NBA news........... (2 Viewers)

Thanks for the comments Mike and you are right, I used to be a big NBA fan.

That's before a ref got busted for rigging games; and speaking of rigged, tell me that draft lottery they run isn't rigged too.

If you can find it, watch game 6 of the ECF, Celtics/Heat.

And tell me that wasn't rigged.

And yes, the league IMO is rigged.

personally...I don't it's rigged...

but if you think it's rigged...
I can understand how you would distance yourself from it and drop it completely as a fan...

George...
I can't watch 5 seconds of WWE or WWF...
or whatever they call that fake wrestling...
but...
lots of people do...
maybe I could watch the ring girls...^&grin...
but that's about it...

Wait; pro wrestling is fixed??????...................:wink2:

Yeah, I'm done with it Mike, I don't find it entertaining in the least.

Any league that has to install a foul for flopping is not legit to me.

And to be honest, I'm not exactly in love with the NFL either; you've got a guy in charge who holds grudges and has an ax to grind and who thinks it's all about HIM.

He's a Ginger haired stooge..............................

I haven't seen an entire NBA game this year with the demise of the Lakers, but going with the Golden State Warriors because I used to collect basketball cards and one wacky facts I remember printed on the back was that Clifford Ray saved a dolphin at Marine World by reaching down its throat to remove something it had swallowed. Apparently his arm was like 4 feet long and the vets hadn't been able to reach the object. Good karma like that can only mean one thing! Warriors in seven. I'm also placing confidence in the Cleveland curse and whoever coaches that team to ensure defeat.

I'm not an NBA fan but this is a case of anyone but Cleveland so I will root for GS. The last time I did that Rick Barry was still there.{eek3} -- Al

Since I call the Bay Area home half of the time I will admit that it is nice having the Warriors in the finals. The other half of the year I am in San Antonio and the Spurs won it last year. NBA championships back to back in the places I live would be nice.

Took your advice Mike and have watched most of the games so far; pretty good stuff, James is on another planet.

Well, he was in the first three games; he and the Cadavers crashed back to earth last night, they look totally gassed.

When it's him and four cardboard cut outs, it's tough to keep it going for seven games.

We'll see what happens, it's a best of three now.................

George...yea...Lebron is the shiznit for sure...

that camera man put some big hickies on his scalp last night...
I didn't think it was a particularly dirty foul...
just a bizarre ending to his fall...

with Irving out...
if Lebron doesn't score 40...
combining for a triple doubles every night..
Cleveland doesn't look very good...

I think that last night's game will cost them the finals...

There's only so much Lebron can do, other than replicate himself.

Just as the Warriors made adjustments, the Cavs will need to make some adjustments for game 5.

If game 5 is like game 4, lights out.

LeBron looks like a man playing among boys out there. Unfortunately for him though several of those boys are on his own team. Curry was unbelievable though. I can't believe there is an NBA player that shoots 1-10 from the FT line playing in the NBA finals. That was ridiculous.

LeBron James is the best basketball player on the planet right now. The Golden State Warriors are the best basketball team on the planet right now.

The best team will win, not the best player.

The Spurs won it last year and this year it is the Warriors. You throw the Giants into the mix with their World Series Wins and I am doing pretty well as far as my local sports teams go.

It is still nowhere near George's run when the Pats won, the Sox won, the Celtics won and the Bruins won all in a short time frame but I will take it.

Have to give LeBron credit for not only being the best player on the court but his desire to win. The Cavs were outcoached and outmanned, but LeBron did his part. I don't care much for his celebrity following, but I do respect that he plays hard and winning matters to him. I think he is 2-4 now in the finals and one Ray Allen miracle shot from being 1-5, but as a Lakers fan who has seen them win plenty and lose plenty getting to the finals is no easy feat and it is a tough nut to beat the top team in the NBA once you get there.

He's a very good player, not in my top 5 in my lifetime, not in my top 10 all time either.

And your point about him being a miracle shot away from 1-5 in the finals speaks volumes.

My top five;

Jordan
Russell
Magic
Bird
Kobe

My top ten;

Jordan
Russell
Magic
Bird
Kobe
Duncan
The Big O
West
Wilt
Jabbar

In this group Russell is clearly the best ever. He has 11 rings. 11 rings? If greatness is measured in championships then he is the greatest of all time. And if that is not enough he won those 11 rings in 13 years as a pro.

I read George's list and I have one question, how does a Boston man leave John Havlicek and Bob Cousy off any list of greatest players?:wink2: Those Celtic teams were unbelievable and the trio of Russell, Havlicek, and Cousy should never be seperated. They were the definition of 'Team' and what all other teams should strive to emulate. As Dumas said, "One for all and all for one." Those three men were the greatest player, ever. -- Al

Didn't want to be too biased as there were two Celtics in there already.

I could make a case that Lebron isn't in the top 15 all time as well now that I think about it.

He's a miracle Ray Allen shot miss away from being 1-5 in the finals, and the one he did win, they had to come back down 3-2 vs the Celtics in the ECF. That game 6 "win" sending the series back to Miami did it for me as far as my interest in the NBA, the bag jobs of all bag jobs IMO.

Wilt averaged 50 points per game one season and he couldn't shoot FTs. The Celts had the greatest team in sports history in the 60s but I would take Wilt in his prime over anyone even Jordan. My top ten would be

1) Wilt
2) Jordan
3) Russell
4) Magic
5) Bird
6) Kareem
7) Oscar Robertson
8) Jerry West
9) Bob Cousy
10) Dr. J

I don't pay much attention to the NBA since Bird and Magic retired but I do have a favorites list from the mists of time...
From the Celtics:
Russell
Havlicek
Cousy
Bird
From the Lakers:
Wilt
West
Baylor
Jabbar
And just because they were great:
Big O
Dr. J
Earl the Pearl
Wes Unseld
That's all folks. -- Al

Good call on the Big O.
