NBA news........... (1 Viewer)

I don't pay much attention to the NBA since Bird and Magic retired but I do have a favorites list from the mists of time...
From the Celtics:
Russell
Havlicek
Cousy
Bird
From the Lakers:
Wilt
West
Baylor
Jabbar
And just because they were great:
Big O
Dr. J
Earl the Pearl
Wes Unseld
That's all folks. -- Al

I liked Wes Unseld, but you are putting him in some very good company there. Maybe a little of that DC bias showing. LOL. I think Elvin Hayes was probably the best player on that Bullets championship team. They were not pretty to watch but good. There were some good players on that team like Bobby Dandridge and Kevin Grevey. Mostly long forgotten now. Abe Pollen was so cheap I remember he hired a weiner dog as the mascot. The dog pulled around some type of tiny wagon on the court during the breaks. They probably would have alleged animal cruelty today.

DC bias, no doubt, but Baltimore Bullet bias, as well. Grevey and Chenier were good players, as was the team. Unseld really is underrated. He was what made those teams work. Without Unseld the Bullets were an afterthought. I also remember Jack Marin and Kevin Loughery, other steady Bullets. No underrating the Big E. He was a beast. Gus Johnson was another Bullet cornerstone. Good ballplayers. -- Al

The Washington Bullets is still my favorite mascot/moniker of any team name in sports.

Jason, it was a huge fuss locally when Washington decided to change it's team nickname to the Wizards. Bullets was seen as politically incorrect by some but others believe the Wizards (I among them) is much worse. It is open to too many interpretations. First off, a close study of the team emblem of the Wizard reveals a shape not unlike a certain bent-armed cross. Second, the nickname Wizards has a really unfortunate connection to a certain hate organization not known for it's tolerance of different races, religions, etc. All in all, the old Bullets nickname was much better and there has been talk of returning to it. -- Al

He's a knucklehead but he hit a huge three against the Celts in the finals. So I suppose they owe him a chance.

I agree with the first part of your statement...

he will bring some toughness and hustle...

and also on the plus side...he gets along with Kobe...

but how bad of shape do you have to be in to need him?

well...at least Kobe will have someone close to his age to talk to...

they can discuss their upcoming social security benefits...

sounds like another ugly season ahead for me...

He's not a knucklehead, calling him a knucklehead is insulting to knuckleheads everywhere.

Moron is more like it.

And leave it to that @#$%ing @#$%)@#& to hit that three, OF ALL PLAYERS, IT HAD TO BE HIM, thanks for the reminder,.

Wanted to pick my TV up and throw it through the window when he hit that dagger.

Saw that Moses Malone has passed away just a few weeks after Daryl Dawkins. Amazing how many athletes die at an early age.

saw both of them play the Rockets in my younger years...

both were very physical and really dominated in the paint...

never saw 2 guys that perspired so much in my life...

they literally left puddles on the court...
