Anybody in on this bracketwise? Great game tonight as Michigan came from 10 down with 3 minutes left to beat Kansas in OT, took a 22-8 run to get to overtime.

I've got Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State and Syracuse going to the final four, have Louisville winning it all.

I'm 4-2 so far this weekend, have Michigan State over Duke, Florida over Georgetown, who got knocked out by FGCU, whoever they are.............seems like every year some school I never heard of makes a run, Butler, Gonzaga, Valparaso, now we've got FUGU or FUNGU or FUNGOUL or FGCU or whoever...........

Well just like Cinderella, last night around midnight the ride ended for FUGU/FSGU/FGCU/whoever, but I have to give them credit; based on the crowd shots at the game last night, some of their fans are total, total smokeshows.

Pulling for Ohio State and Syracuse today; if both win, half of my final four are set.

Seems to be a lot of interest in this tournament here based on all the posts in this thread, looks like we've got quite a few college hoop fans here.

Cricket/Rugby/"football" anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller??

Hi George. I'm something of a college hoops fan, mainly ACC, and mainly UMd Terps. Since they didn't make the big dance, they went NIT, so that's where my attention has been. I see Duke is still in the mix in the big dance, so even though they are arch-enemies of my Terps, I will support them as the ACC rep. Not sure I like their chances against Louisville. On the other hand, UMd has a decent shot in the NIT semis against Iowa on Tuesday. -- Al

Down goes Ohio State. Definitely didn't see that one coming. MSU and Indiana are out too. That team from the state up north is still in it though.

Oh well, on to the "real" sport in the state of Ohio. Braxton Miller and that spread offense are going to be difficult to stop.

:)

Glad to see the Orange, as one of the founding members of the Big East get to the FF and will be pulling for them. I think Boeheim has a great shot to get his 2nd title.

As mens college basketball gets more and more watered down (you can declare for the draft after one year of school; that's really a brilliant idea), seems like lately some team comes from nowhere to get to the final four; Wichita State wasn't even rankeed in the top 25, yet on they go to the final four.

The West was a bracket killer for most people with both Gonzaga, New Mexico and Ohio State being the favorites to get to the final four, all three went down in flames.

Should be two great games today, Iv'e got Louisville and Michigan advancing, we'll see what happens.

They sure don't play like it is watered down. Wichita State just played better than Ohio yesterday; their passing and patience for the good shots was most impressive. I think it is great when the lower rated teams shake things up. It just shows that in sports, as in many things, expert opinions are still just "opinions". Otherwise, why even have multiple rounds?

I don't know that it's watered down, just that there's a lot of talent out there. Cinderella teams always come out of nowhere because you can just focus on a game at a time, as opposed to worrying about the whole season, particularly when knocking off a high seed can make your whole season. The Shockers have done this before as have schools by the likes of Austin Peay.

As far as Gonzaga goes, throughout the season they weren't viewed as that strong a team and not taken all that seriously. I also didn't think OSU had played all that well throughout the opening rounds and were extremely lucky to get to the 16.

I've never been a huge Pitino fan so I'm rooting for Duke, as well as Michigan.

Kentucky was far and away the best team last year, several underclassmen went pro, the team was gutted and they didn't even make the field of 64, they went to the NIT and lost in the first round.

It's a watered down product.

I'm not a basketball fan (so take this for what it's worth), but it seems to me that the difference between the NCAA Tournament and the NBA playoffs is somewhat similar to the difference between the NFL playoffs and MLB playoffs. In both the NCAA and the NFL, the playoffs are single elimination, so the best team has a lot better chance of getting knocked out, while a hot team, playing well at the right time as a lot better chance of advancing. In the NBA and MLB playoffs, with the best of 7 format, the better team almost always advances, because one bad game, or one big play, will only win one of the four games needed to advance. In football, because of the violent physical nature of the game, you really have no choice but to have a single elimination, and, frankly, I can live with it, because there is so much parity in the league, that I really don't pay that much attention to regular season record (if you took a 10-6 team from one of the brutally tough divisions like the NFC East, AFC North or NFC North, like the 2005 Steelers, the 2007 Giants or the 2011 Packers and dropped them into a cupcake Division like the AFC South or the AFC East, they would post 12-4 or 13-3 records like the Colts or Patriots perineally do - that's why those teams each won the Superbowl without a terrific regular season record).

Yeah, that's great; so in the NFL, all you need is lucky bounces/blown coverages/bogus penalties and bingo, a 9-7/10-6 team can win it all.

Anyway, what a curb stomping by Michigan today, they are peaking at the right time, Michigan/Syracuse next week is going to be a great game.................

You wouldn't be talkin' about the Giants would you? ^&grin

That was sure true. Michigan came out on fire and never really looked back. I don't think Ohio adjusted very well at all but there is not doubt Michigan was hot.

Final 4 is set. I don't see Louisville losing and I don't know who wins Mich v 'Cuse. Louisville v Michigan, on a whim. Will be a good bunch of games. -- Al

With their defense I see the Orange winning. However, Louisville will be tough. The final will be fitting: a Big East final, the last one.

Not a Pitino fan, but would love to see Louisville win it. Back to back local teams, with UK winning it last yr, would be great. The fans here (UK and UofL) hate each other.
THat leg break of Kevin Ware was horrendous. He may not make it back. He was going to be UofL's point guard next yr after Siva leaves. Chris

I've got Louisville in both of my pools winning it all, so we'll see.

That was the most horrific sports related injury I've ever seen, so glad they did not show a replay of that, although I am sure nitwits everywhere will post that all over the internet.

A spectacular catch in the final drive of the Super Bowl doesn't ever seem to hurt either. ^&grin

Agreed; that was just the start of things for Tyree, he's gone to what, 4 or 5 pro bowls since that catch, putting up first ballot HOF numbers in the process.

I thought when the Giants signed him to a brand new 6 year 80 million dollar contract right after the Super Bowl they were crazy, but I guess I was wrong as he's put up incredible numbers since then..................................................................

I actually saw him the other day; he was wearing a paper hat and asked me "Do you want fries with that?"
