This Forum is like our Facebook or Twitter, our social media in other words, and companies need to have a strong presence in order to prosper. You ignore social media at your peril.

This is spot on, Facebook and other forms of social media are necessary in 2018 and beyond, people use social media to gather information and stay up to date on things. It's a tremendous tool for any business at this stage of the game.

Any updates on the release of the 88?

None.

Going back to my post in the Britains at the LTSS, I thought about giving Ken a call but I could feel they were not receptive (and resistant) to my suggestions so I don’t feel it’s worth the effort.

Brad:

Thanks, I guess I will just wait it out and hope that it is eventually produced.

Plenty of other items to collect in the meantime.

Best,
Jason

Agreed, last time I talked to WB it was to renew my membership. I talked to Erica and at that time she said they would have some of the new releases in February or March at the latest. Obviously that did not happen. No sense even trying to get an update on the new releases, not worth the effort. Will just have to wait and see. Hopefully everything works out for the best for everyone's sake. In the mean time, just will enjoy the collection I have.

At this point it seems more likely to find unicorn droppings than get a realistic update on release dates . Just an odd way to run a business , we are not waiting on a friend to move a couch they are taking pre orders from customers not delivering and providing no updates . Que plenty of ex customers .

At this point, I'd just be satisfied knowing whether or not they were about to go out of business.

Agreed. However, I've canceled my WBritains pre-orders that were placed almost a year ago.

I'll place my orders again when actual product have been delivered to the distributor.

I've lost faith in them without communications on their status.

Too bad, I really like them and have purchased many times from them in the past. I'm still routing for them.

Good luck with that one. Seems the operating model is that no news is good news.

At some point someone needs to pull the plug.

I agree when it is quiet there is normally something wrong, how many action films, programmes or book have you seen or read where someone says "it is quiet out" and then the brown sticky stuff hit the whirlie thing and everything go to hell. Plus when your other half/spouse/partner is quiet or the kids are playing upstairs or in the garden and it goes quiet................ you know

the quietness from Ken at W Britains is deafening......

We heard at the London show that there were new stock on the way and they were "on the water as we speak", but as yet nothing, are they crossing the sea of Rhun........

Like many I have been frustrated by the delays in WB releases and lack of communication.

I have spoken to Ken at the past couple of London Collector Club Events and he is always very open and honest in talking about all things toy soldiers, including Britain’s and their delivery issues.

Therefore, I suspect that the lack of communication is probably because they can not comment at this stage because of the issues with production; which are probably commercially sensitive. The production schedule they have will have been the one First Gear had in place (before WB was bought out).

WB knows the strength of feedback on this from collectors; the discussion at the London event in December was somewhat forthright.

It is WB 125 Birthday this year, so I hope they celebrate in style with lots of releases

I have thought about cancelling all of my preorders but have not done it yet. I do get closer everyday to doing it as well as cancelling my membership. Will probably do it some time this year if nothing changes. Will look to see what is on the secondary market and try my hand at modifying figures or try something completely new. Saw WB posted a free symposium, show, sale at their location in Ohio, don't know if it is related to the 125th or not. Would expect to see something from them for the 125th anniversary, hopefully it will happened this year. Saw that note about "on the water" too, we will wait and see. Nothing else we can do really.

Maybe someone should start a pool concerning the release date of WB's 88.
LOL

I don’t collect WB, but I’m saddened to read this thread, after all it’s an iconic TS manufacturer we’re talking about, 125 years old. So to see it in what appears to be a “vegetative state” is really sad, and specially in today’s world, you either deliver (both products and information) or your are dead. I sincerely hope they make their way back of this somewhat dormant state asap, so their collectors don’t go orphans, and help keeping the TS industry strong!

Yes Britains situation is disappointing, however, there is a lot of product on offer. The next phase in hobby/industry will probably be 3D printing and that will be exciting.

I attended a wargaming show back in March and there was a company there selling 28mm figures using a 3D printer and the gimmick was they scan your face and popped a head with your likeness on the figure.

For 40.00.

Unpainted.

I talked to them and they said a 54mm/60mm figure would cost 125.00 to 150.00.

So anyone who wants to pony up that much coin for an unpainted figure and then get it painted to a high level; be my guest.

Ha ha ha ! So your likeness could be a Toy Soldier Napoleon etc ! ^&grin

I'd of thought there'd be a better market for them assuming they could get permission from Museums, if they scanned busts of long dead people such as Roman Emperors, for those wanting a true to life likeness and with a top notch paint job, they might find a wider market.

All new technologies start expensive and then get much, much cheaper. A computer that took up three buildings not sits on your wrist and has more computing power.

This technology will change the toy solder market in someway. Time will tell exactly how.
