As someone who has only been collecting K&C for a wee while, I have no idea if Andy and the team have ever produced WW2 8th Army figures, charging with "fixed bayonets"??:confused:

If not, I figure they are way over due and would make a welcome addition to the currant Western Desert range.:D

Maybe a set of 3/4 figures on the rampage?

With a lot of emphasis on AV's and artillery during this campaign, its easy to forget how often it was left up to the infantry to clear out a position by sheer guts and cold steel.

Having spoken too many Kiwi WW2 veterans over the years, about the desert war, its clear the infantry were regularly called upon to use this tactic.

For example, soldiers from the 28th Maori Battalion were notorious for bayonet charges after a good old fashioned "Haka"......used to scare the c...p :eek::eek:out of the poor Jerries & Italians.

How about it Andy?

That'd be great!

There's a photo around of Australian 6th Division troops (who spent a lot of time with the kiwis) going into either Derna or Bardia with bayonets fixed, wearing WWI-style greatcoats that looks good to me (full disclosure: paternal grandfather was 2/11 battalion, 6th division, 2AIF - Derna, Bardia, Tobruk, Greece, Crete (wounded in action), New Guinea ... whew).

Desert kiwi...

They have acouple of sets at the moment with fixed bayonets that look good don't know if the are the desert rats but, you could use them for that. Without sounding like a complaint which, its not I think we need action sets added to the 8th army stuff and hope august dispatches goes south!!!

Cheers Todd & Mitch.....thanks heaps for the great feedback!!;):D

Yeah there are some fantastic photographs around depicting Allied Infantry charging past wrecked vehicles etc, during the desert campaign.

Just thought it would be nice to see some more attacking figures, after all the recent great AK releases.:)

Desert Kiwi & Rethymno,
Guys, I like you have been waiting patiently for more EA sets to complete a dio of the Battle of Carrier Hill which took place outside Toburk on 22nd April 1941. "C" Company, 2/48th Battalion accompanied by 5 Carriers of the 2/48th Carrier Platoon, 3 Infantry Tanks (Matildas) of the 7th RTR and 4 x 2lb A/T guns on Portee of "M" Battery 3rd RHA attacked a AK position outside the wire of Tobruk. Over 300 POWs taken and much eqpt captured with little lose on the allied side. Heavy hand to hand fighting.
I have the Matilda (EA07), the Carrier (EA41) and some of the Infantry (EA09and EA15) but await the arrival of more attacking infantry and wait also in hope of a 2lb A/T gun mounted on Portee.
Cheers Howard

There are some sets of 8th Army attacking infantry by K&C.

http://www.toysoldiersusa.com/cgi-local/show_detail.cgi?item_id=EA001
http://www.toysoldiersusa.com/cgi-local/show_detail.cgi?item_id=EA003

http://www.toysoldiersusa.com/cgi-local/show_detail.cgi?item_id=EA015

Unfortunately, the first 3 are long retired or sold out. But they do show up on e-bay at reasonable prices. EA015 can still be bought from dealers at retail.

I reckon it's time we had some more Aussie sets in this range.

The Two retired Aussie sets (EA003 "Australian Attack" and EA006 "Bren Gun") are still popular world-wide on eBay but they need reinforcements.

Some suggestions for new Aussie sets:

* Lewis Gun Crew
* Mortar Crew
* Anti tank gun
