new AK sets (3 Viewers)

If you guys are going to continue these excellent and informative debates, would you be interested in a new forum category entitled "Historical Discussion" or something to that effect? Then the threads won't get buried in weird places such as "new AK sets" for example. What do you think?

Oh yeah, I forgot about the new AK sets. Aren't they cool. :D

Works for me.

Before this gets moved, I just ran across a book that may be of interest. It hasn't been published yet in the USA but it is available in the UK entitled "Together We Stand North Africa 1942-1943: Turning Tide in the West." Author is James Holland and talks about how the Allies in North Africa managed to pick themselves up and beat the Germans.

Yes in all the Rommel talk i'd quite forgotten the thread!.Love that new gun,the crew figures look superb.I am hoping they have that on sale at the London show in March. Each time i consider buying from someone other than K&C,i see whats coming next and i never bother!.A question for you K&C experts out there. What do you think the odds are that one day (oh glorious day!)Andy might produce another 88mm for the AK range?.

Rob.

I think it must be a huge possibility. And it would be the best version ever! :)

The new Historical Debate section sounds like a great idea. Lots of scope for discussion there.

Shall we save Louis's Malmedy discussion until it opens? It's a topic i don't know much about beyond the bare facts but would be interested in hearing other members opinions.

I know there has been a film on the Malmedy massacre recently called "Saints and Soldiers". I haven't seen it but i think it got mixed reviews.

Hi guys, pending Shannon starting a new forum, I posted a Malmedy discussion thread under 'Historical Discussions' in the Miscellaneous forum - see you there :)

I'd recommend them all to be honest for the fantastic photgraphs alone. Not to mention you get articles written by people like Zhukov.

Here's a link to a set in Canada. it looks like it was published by Marshall Cavendish in North America.

Standout issues for me are 2 devoted to the opening stages of Operation Barbarossa. Amazing large colour photos.

Eazy,

I got outbid on the US one (fell asleep and missed the end:( ) but I found a US seller that has several of these and have bought 10 for starters.

I received my 10 copies today and from the looks of it they appear to be really good and chock full of information, photos and drawing so I'd recommend these to anybody.

I thought you'd like them. You can get them pretty cheaply and they are well worth it.

Anyone know when the new AK sets will shipped and available for purchase in the US?

We just received the Greifs today, with the rest of the AK sets to follow tomorrow. They are beginning to ship out ...

Thanks Peter. That is excellent news. Seems like we have been waiting forever.

Com' on Pete, Tell us how it looks up close and personal, as if I had to ask.

Hi Carlos, if you actually hit the order button, which I have, you are told it is no longer available. So the short answer is "yes, it's wishful thinking!":D

Too bad, I guess it was. Maybe that website should say "sold out" before you press the "buy" button. Otherwise it seems little an unintentional "tease".

Carlos

I picked up AK27 set (10.5cm Field Gun) last week at the West Coaster and I have to say, its a thing of beauty. It's obviously smaller than previous FLAK 88 release by KC, but I think its the best artillery set released by them.

What do you guys think?

Carlos

Carlos, I cav't tell you how many times I've had my hopes crushed by seeing a retired or hard get K&V piece listed on a dealer web site, put an order in and get an email back later in the day or the following day saying that the item is longer in stock. But every once and a while you get lucky and find that last one in stock and it makes your day.

Fred

Hey Carlos, glad to hear you like the 10.5, I'm waiting for the one I have on order and was thinking of getting another, one to put in firing position and have the other being towed by halftrack. What do think of the new Desert Transport, I haven't heard anyone say much about it and looks like a nice piece, thanks.
