Hey Carlos, glad to hear you like the 10.5, I'm waiting for the one I have on order and was thinking of getting another, one to put in firing position and have the other being towed by halftrack. What do think of the new Desert Transport, I haven't heard anyone say much about it and looks like a nice piece, thanks.

Fred

The Desert Transport is good value all around for the money. Isn't it $79?

The vehicle itself is a basic in nature as it was in real life. But I'm glad I have it and it does look very nice towing the 10.5 gun. I have my second 10.5 piece being shipment and will display it being towed by the Desert transport like you.

The artillery team that will come with my second gun I'll use with my Flak 88 (21st Century) expertly painted by Mark at "Build-A-Rama.

That with a Desert camo net from Build-A-Rama is going to look HOT!

The difference is size.

Sorry for sounding like a commercial but these items seem to work for this scene.

Carlos

I appreciate your input and advice, Carlos. And no , you don't sound like a commercial, I've been admiring your work on the "bored tonight...post a diarama" thread, anyone with that kind of talent for displays can me give all the tips and hints that you're willing to share. I'm just a rank amatuer here, but willing to listen and learn. P.S., I wish I had an 88 to put the second 10.5gun figures around, I only hope Andy does an Afrika Corp version some time in the (near) future.

Carlos, I cav't tell you how many times I've had my hopes crushed by seeing a retired or hard get K&V piece listed on a dealer web site, put an order in and get an email back later in the day or the following day saying that the item is longer in stock. But every once and a while you get lucky and find that last one in stock and it makes your day.

Fred

Hi Fred!
It's a horrible feeing that's for sure! It took a couple of those experiences to learn to e-mail or call before ordering. :) Live and learn, eh?

Hi Carlos!
I'll second that! Your post didn't sound like a commerial. :) In fact, I'd like to thank you for the information. An Afrika Korps 88 is, well, something I had hoped to find but never thought I'd see. I've just recently discovered this great hobby and it just keeps getting better and better! Thanks again for the info.

Justin,

Check out the DAK Flak 88 that was posted in Treefrog's Photo Gallery section, page 4.

I belive this picture were taken Dec. 2005. Mark V. at Build of Rama does a great job weathering and painting doesn't he?

Carlos,
Thanks for the link! Cool pics! You seem to have a sizeable collection. Do you collect WW2 pieces exclusively?
Yes, he does a great job indeed. Can't wait to get ahold of one! It's like finding hidden treasure, this 88. :)
Justin

Yes Justin, I do collect WWII exclusively. It's a matter of finances otherwise I'd be collecting ACW as well.

Carlos

Justin,

While I have never met Carlos personally, I have read many of his postings to this forum and I have viewed his many wonderful dioramas. I think his response to your question regarding his exclusively collecting WW II figures is incomplete.

If finances were not an issue, not only would he collect ACW in addition to his WW II figures, but he would also collect Napoleonics, WW I, American Revolution, French and Indian War, Zulu War, Knights, Crimean War, Samurai, Boxer Rebellion, etc., etc., etc.

Am I correct Carlos?

Smiles and Warm regards,

Pat

That's kind of funny, but I know where you're coming from.

If I had unless finances, plenty of space and time, I'd probably collect WWII, WWI, ACW, Napoleonic, Romans and Medieval. However, it’s probably good that I have limited finances, space and time.

Why, I need a little balance. LOL.

Good collecting, and have some fun too.

Carlos

Carlos,
I'm pretty much into the WW2 as well. I hear you on the finances. I may branch off from time to time if the budget permits. (K&C American Revolution and Figarti Iraq figures are catching my eye. D'oh!) It would be nice to try out a lot of other ranges. But on the bright side, it does teach you discipline. :)

I was collecting only WWII and in view of the upcoming Aremican Revolution serie figures and Barbarians, I pre-ordered near ten AR (the indians look fabulous) and all the Barbarians. I also ordered the actually available indians and bought some retired figures (42nd Highlanders and one BR14 set). They are really great. I will start soon the Imperial Collection and I will buy some SOHK figures as they will be retired. In fact, I have less and less interest in the WS serie and I did not have any of the BOBG one (I don't collect Allies at the exception of the 8th Army).

In my opinion, go now for the AR and try to buy the retired ones right away, you will not regret it.

Hi Pierre!
We're in the same boat then. The upcoming AR figures made my decision for me. The fact that they are available individually made them even more appealing. :) Now that I'm more or less caught up with the essential sets (Well, after I pick up the custom-painted 88), it's time to branch out. I'll definitely check out the retired AR sets. Thanks for the suggestion! But darn it, you have me thinking about the Romans now. My wallet might be their next conquest. :D
Justin

Just curious what exactly is included in AK sets 1-10 (assuming they exist) and if there are any pictures available. Don't recall having seen them or heard them discussed on the board.

Combat,
Look at my websie and you will see the sets you are looking for www.toysoldiersusa.com . They are pictures of my personal set. They are probably some of the hardest sets to find.

Thanks Bill. Those are really fantastic. I had never seen them before. Any idea what the single most valuable KC piece or set would be?

That may depend on how rare a piece is. The person to probably answer the question is Louis. Some of the wooden tanks are very expensive. Last year or end of 2004 one went on ebay for approximately $2,000. I think it would be more now. Some of the planes are also very rare. I'd estimate that a Horsa Glider or a B 17 would easily be $2,500. Louis has many one of a kind pieces. Something like them are priceless in the truest sense of the word.

Combat,
Brad is right about the pricing. K&C pieces that are old are hard to set a price for since there is not much to compare them to. There are several pieces that are well over the $1000 mark. The AK series figure sets are probably at least $450 and up. The motorcycle is probably close to $800. These are only a rough idea of value again because there is not much to compare to.

So they're not worth anything? :)

Hi Justin,

I missed you post in march, sorry.

Did you ordered the Barbarians? I'm supposed to have mine next week, can't wait especially after seeing them in the display made by K&C in their website.

If you go for the Romans and have difficulties finding particular figures, let me know, I'll check for you here in Montréal at D'Artagnan, they still have them, except Julius Caius Ceasar.

Best regards,
Pierre.
