New Dispatchs look great!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

New WW2 stuff is great but must say the guy taking a dump is done in poor taste

Am I the only one here who doesn't see taking a crap as a big deal? Last time I checked we all do it, so I am sure they did it in combat. I think it is no more in poor taste than depicting wounded or dead soldiers, or grusome combat trophies. I also think it evidences a certain sense of humanity, not to mention a rather cheeky sense of humor.

You guys really like this new batch?? Its just more of the same,, same of German with the camo colors! And that scwigwaggen is on the germans' few ugly vehicles.. And it would have been better if andy made the full size halftrack.. But i guess that is "what sells"!

Wow, controversy, guranteed to sell!

I dunno, not really a big deal, it is humorous.

Possibilities, I think it presents are interesting. Imagine the dio:

Schwim parked on a down slope, near a lake..................T34 coming over the hill.:eek:

History is history and yes this was a part of history. I think it will be like anything else, buy or don't buy it, personal choice. I find it no different then the Egyptian Dancing Girls or the John Eden Roman set. These 2 are highly historically accurate. Both of those empires were filled with debauchery and excess or at the time, it was viewed as normalcy. I think everything has to be taken in the context of its time to truly understand it.

As for this release, I think you can chalk it up to humor.

The winner this month for me has to be the SdKfz 250/1. I really hope the paint on this model is a sign of things to come. The colors are much more authentic. The Dunkelgelb RAL 7028 is less yellow and less bright and the Rotbraun RAL 8017 is less orangey and a much richer brown. Excellent!

I agree I would have liked to see a full size 1/2 track as well, However this new one looks very well done and it will be on the top of my list for items to buy in Sept.

I am in agreement with you Louis. Don't really know what all the fuss is about.

When I said that the guy taking a dump was in poor taste I was talking about how you would display it. Yes it is funny but I may never take the figure out of the box. I have spent a lot of time to make my displays and dioramas very detailed and accurate----I don't want a figure hiding in the bushes or behind a building taking a ........ I think it would have been better to have the schwimmwagen with a figure I could use---especially at $109. I would post some pictures of my dioramas but can't seem to figure out how to scale down the pictures from my camera.

I don't think it's too funny and I think it's in extremely poor taste. Any threads, such as the one I just deleted, will be dealt with in the same way.

This is a forum that kids also visit and we do have several teenagers on here. Although I can't change what Andy has done, we don't need to propagate it here however.

Brad, I must agree with you on this point. The scult is at best "silly"....will not be on my list to purchase......as I said in another post the cost of toy soldiers is becomming too expensive to waste a purchase.....many other subjects of interest......

Several years ago I met Don Troiani, in my opinion the number one military artist alive, and asked him why his battle paintings were so "antiseptic". Did his bloodless paintings glamorize war and diminish the sacrifices that so many soldiers made for their countries or causes.
Mr. Troiani stated that if he wanted that kind of "realism" he could paint a camp scene depicting dysentary which was so common among troops during the ACW and ARW. His philosophy was to depict the soldier accurately in uniform, setting and demeanor.
The point is that most collectors of combat figures and paintings are interested in a historical perspective, uniform depiction and the art of sculpting and painting. It is simply impossible to duplicate the horrors of war through toy soldiers or paintings.
K&C gives us options on where we want to go with our collecting strategies.
Personally I would not buy the set with the Saracen holding the severed head of a Crusader.
K&C's choice to depict a soldier doing his "personal business" can be termed as either whimsical or "artistic license", no more and no less.

Yep this is one of those love it or hate it figures guaranteed to stir up a bit of controversy. I'll give it a miss personally as It would be so out of place amongst my other figures and I just plain don't like it. It seems a missed opportunity to me.

No problem here. Suspect the figure is somewhat aggravating to those who like the vehicle but don't want the unusual pose that goes with it. That pose reminds me of a couple of rotorheads in one of my units landing in a field in Germany... you get the idea:D:rolleyes:.

It is true we all do it and males like to make jokes about it ("is Farmer Brown here?") but do we need to sink to the lowest common demoninator and bathroom humor. Using the line everybody does it is an excuse for everything. I think that we as human beings are a little better than that. Apparently not.

Its a shame because all the talk about the squatting guy is overshadowing how superb that half track is.Don't know if you guys agree but i think it looks like one of the best vehicles K&C have done, wonderful camo and great figures.I think this going to be a 'Get straight away job' like the crusader and ambulance.

I'm with you on this one Rob. The halftrack is really spectacular.

Brad,
I get this point too. In the end, I am on the fence with it. Due to cost, is it worth addiing this set just to let a figure potentially sit in the box? Not sure, the original wagen trades at $400 plus and is usually missing pieces, so at 109, is it more economical to just let the "strange" figure sit in the box, maybe?

I tried to make light of the issue with my dio scenario. Again, to each is own, although I usually tend to gloss over these issues as I am a big proponent of no censorship no matter how poorly taste could be perceived. When you try to limit taste, you end up on a slippery slope with no winners.

SO, Again, chalk this up to one man's humor and make a personal choice of whether to buy or not to buy!

Looks like everything is going up now. Constantly things are being retired witch is a good thing. But I need to do some ketchup on my ak stuff.
