Thank you, Martyn
Mike exceeded my expectations this time
Sudan is well done and we are ready for Omdurman!
Are the most of NB sets, you showed, "standard" line issues or Mike made them as specials? I start thinking about placing a large "Sudan order" with LL...NB is almost perfect in my book and I am looking forward seeing the Sudan artillery sets (NB did not handle cannons in Sudan only machine guns)... LL needs to improve slightly their horse sculpturing and make some "vignette" sets more realistic IMHO then they are ready to take from where Trophy left it

Hi All,
Any one knows when Mike from LL will enlighten us with a carriage based maxim......It is not that hard, he has the maxim on a Naval pedestal for the boats, he has the carriage for the gatling....it is just a question of doing some " cross over" to borrow a car manufacturers vocabulary.....What fun part is that back in 2010 I sent him a Mountford infantry maxim on a carriage and he assembled it for me.....and even added some great garrison troops ( The Mountford used to come with Naval ratings as standard ). See the pics....
At least the way I see it, if guys like Mike do not roll out maxims for land battles ( be it on carriages or tripods ) the collector has the following options: (1) Sticks to dios of battles up to the First Sudan Invasion and part of the Second Afeghan Invasion, but no chance of setting up the Second invasion of Sudan, Omdurman and all the subsequent Northwestern Frontier little wars, or scavanges the fairs for the few still existing maxims for the British Army.......
To try and expand 1890s to 1901 British Miliarty actions be it in Sudan, india, or Central Africa without adding the maxim as supporting fire power is not being accurate as to the battalion displacements of the time....by then a Rifle Company was not all that was sent out to the field.....the maxims were the ones to tip the scale........
Would love to see them roll out of a regular catalogue........See a few pics on how great that would be!!!!!
thanks al.
One of the things i like about the vast majority of the ll nb sets is they never saw light of day in a trophy format
naval brigade, standing at the ready
cheers

Patience Luiz my friend, Mike says his cast will be off in a couple weeks or so ..... then hopefully, he'll be back at his workbench busy filling out orders for Martyn, Brian, Chris, myself and others that have been piling up while his wrist is mending ..... so figure about another year or two and you should see your carriage mounted maxim gun .....^&grin
