I want to clarify a couple things about the new policy.

This is a rolling 30 day maximium posts policy. If you post 250 posts on day #1, you will not be able to post again until day #31. If you post 125 posts on day #1 and 125 posts on day #2, you will not be able to post again until day 31 when you will have 125 posts available.

It had been my impression that the software would only start counting the number of posts going forward. That appears to not be the case. I have temporarily increased the number of posts allowed. One week from today I will change it back to the 250 limit. If you have a large volume of posts in the past few weeks, you may want to hold off a bit to allow the posts from 4 weeks ago to 'clear out' of your post count.

To view your # of posts, go to your profile page. On the left column you can click on the 'Find latest posts.' That will list them in groups of 25...so see how many pages it takes to get back to 30 days ago and do the math.

If you have questions about this policy or the way that it is implemented, please PM me.

I love new software...or not!

Here's the deal. We had intended for the 'clock' to start ticking for the 250 per month today. The software didn't do that...it kicked in immediately.

My previous post was an attempt to fix the situation...but for many reasons it is not feasible.

So, here's how this will roll out. The software is now turned off and will be for 21 days. On August 12 it will be turned on with 250 being the max number of posts. Every post that is made within a 30 day period will count towards your 250, so even though it is not 'on' it is counting. If you go over that 250 in the 30 days prior to 8/12 you will be unable to post for a bit to allow some of the day's worth of posts to clear.

I apologize for the confusion.

I haven't forgotten that today was D-Day for integrating the Max Use Policy. We're having a very minor technical glitch which we're taking care of. I expect to be up and running with it tomorrow.

We will kick things off with a post limit of 400 (since 30 days ago nobody knew about the coming policy). On Sept. 1 that number will revert to 275 (a bit higher than originally announced).

With the new chat feature...and the ability to 'like' a posts...I think this will be very usable for folks.

More details tomorrow...

Does liking a post count as a post?

If not, it would save on many of the nice dio responses by replacing some of them with likes.

Terry, I don't think its does count as a post, its partly to help cut down your number of posts, because you really do post often Terry{eek3}:wink2::tongue:

The new policy is underway!

Two areas of the forum that are not included in the post count are the Show reports and 'Game time' (this is where we moved the Movie and Song threads).

The 'Like' feature is a way to keep the post count low...they are not included when the number of posts are tallied...so 'Like' away!

I think the updated editing of the 'Like' feature makes it look a lot better!

Thanks Pete, so today for the last thirty days only we are allowed 400 posts?

Cheers

Yes...since it's a rolling 30 day limit, any posts made in the last 30 days count. If you are able to post...you must not be at the limit :)

Each day the posts from 31 days previously are erased from the count list.

On Sept. 1 we will bring it back down to 275. We set it at 400 now as a way to ease into it.

Did you choose a temporary limit of 400 so that Rob could post? ^&grin^&grin Do you realize that is like giving a case of wine to an alcoholic on the promise that he will drink only one bottle a day. :rolleyes2:^&grin

There is a spanner in the works here somewhere as I can't post a new thread but can reply to posts, this can't be right surely, kind of pointless if so.^&confuse

Starting a thread cost more points think it fifty points per new thread .

I THINK I have the problem pinned down and fixed. Let me know if there are still problems.

Hi all,

Just so you are aware, I have made a new forum area in the Chat Lounge for The Movie Title and Song Title games called Game Time which does not count toward post count. Shows and Show Reports are also not counted toward post count.

Finally, take note of the new 'like' and 'chat' features recently implemented as well.
Lots of nice new improvements and enhancements as a result of creative suggestions from members--although you can thank Pete Reuss for coming up with the idea to add a chat feature. He did a lot of research on this and put a lot of work into finding the best chat software for our forum. We don't mind paying more to bring you an even better experience on the Frog. Enjoy!

If the Movie and Song Threads do not count, I will never make Officer! Get ready everyone for a bucketload of 'nice dio' and 'I agree'.{sm4}

Hi all,

..Shows and Show Reports are also not counted toward post count...

I hate to open a can of worms, but there's a bit of a dilemma with show reports. If they're not counted towards the post count quota, are they also not counted towards forum rank? I ask because on the one hand, I can see that we don't want to penalize someone by racking up posts towards the 30-day limit. Posting a show report can mean a large number of individual posts, all at one pop. On the other hand, show reports are useful to the forum, and we'd want to reward someone who shares show info with everyone, by increasing his post count towards the next rank.

I recognize, of course, that the ranks are a light-hearted feature of the forum, something for fun on the forum that don't really mean anything, and I also recognize that we probably can't have it both ways with the webpage software.

Interesting question to consider...

Prosit!

Brad, speaking for myself I'd rather have my posts not counted than worry about promotion, you see next promotion for me is ' Pope' , and I've sinned far too much for that job anyway:wink2:

Best

Rob
