New Monthly Max Use Policy (1 Viewer)

It's not quite as complicated as all that...

The post count (towards promotion) and the post count (towards the max post amount) are calculated seperately.

Just remember, no matter how much people increase in rank, they still remain under the COMMANDER IN CHIEF! {sm0}

Brad, speaking for myself I'd rather have my posts not counted than worry about promotion, you see next promotion for me is ' Pope' , and I've sinned far too much for that job anyway:wink2:

QUOTE=theBaron;514864]I hate to open a can of worms, but there's a bit of a dilemma with show reports. If they're not counted towards the post count quota, are they also not counted towards forum rank? I ask because on the one hand, I can see that we don't want to penalize someone by racking up posts towards the 30-day limit. Posting a show report can mean a large number of individual posts, all at one pop. On the other hand, show reports are useful to the forum, and we'd want to reward someone who shares show info with everyone, by increasing his post count towards the next rank.

I recognize, of course, that the ranks are a light-hearted feature of the forum, something for fun on the forum that don't really mean anything, and I also recognize that we probably can't have it both ways with the webpage software.

Interesting question to consider...

Prosit!

You are getting ahead of yourself Rob - Cardinal comes first.

Before you sign up, though, Rob - you do know what the word celibate means don't you?

With all the talk about post totals, promotions, and such, I'm curious about how many posts are neccesary to become fully vested in the Treefrog Forum retirement benefits program, and exactly how much the pension payments are on a monthly payout basis. Anyone? -- Al

Does that mean when you goad someone selling something on ebay???

Ok, if it means what I think it really means I'm not prepared to make the sacrifice to wear the holy robes of office, I'll settle for Prime minister or Mayor of London:wink2:

Do you mean under Rob? {eek3}{eek3}

Brad, if Shannon ever decides she's finally had enough of us all and sets sail for some peaceful exotic Island somewhere, I would of course step forward, but it would be like the final scene in the fall of the Roman empire around here:wink2:

I never had much of an opinion on this monthly use policy either way until this morning when it was brought to my attention that one of the best known and most respected members of this forum, Martyn (GICOP), has had to suffer the indignity of been shuffled off to Post Limit Prison. For me this just serves to point out what an unfair, senseless and ridiculous rule the post limit really is.

I agree with both of you regarding this policy as all that was needed to be done was ban the few and let the rest of us get on with it

I agree. ATTICA! ATTICA! -- Al

I don't think Martyn has ever participated in one single arguement...he is extremely passionate about this hobby and loves to show off his collection in photos...he has nothing but compliments for other forum members and is a first class act...

Peter...it's your forum of course...but maybe the system is not working the way you intended...maybe it's time to re-think the new policy...I know you didn't have anything like this in mind...

The restriction policy is nonsense.People can argue whether they are allowed 50 posts or 1000.BOTH ts forums are turning a lot of people off lately.
Mark

the forum belongs to Peter and Shannon...

I'm sure they spend a small fortune and an enormous amount of time maintaining it and monitoring it...not to mention software upgrades...which I think Peter figures out and does himself...I'm sure it's one headache after another...

we're all guests here...and I enjoy being able to participate...

I'm just saying...

maybe this new policy is not having the desired results Peter had hoped for...maybe some of the "negatives" on post restrictions are being filtered down to the wrong people...

Peter...I'm curious...was this new policy instigated because of your file capacity size being in jeopardy...

After spending all morning and half the afternoon painting the walls and ceiling in my living room, after which taking a nice long shower and shave, and then drinkging several glasses of red wine, I ask this question . . . . Am I the only that's confused and what in the world has happened to Martyn. Posting limits . . . what the hey . . . . . Total nonsense . . .
:smile2: Mike

Indeed, this post limit is just a bad idea! Just ban those that are the problem which has been done recently and the forum has been better for it.

I agree with the views below on the limit and the plight of Martyn but i also understand the difficulties that Peter and Shannon have in trying to keep it fair for everyone. I personally think that people that cause issues on the forum should be given several warnings and if they persist then a suspension followed by totally being banned if they still persist after that. If someone causes a major issue on the forum then just ban them altogether.

Tom

There already is a warning, suspension and banning system to deal with members that cause issues on the forum, the new monthly posting limit was put in place for a different reason.

It was intended to keep specific people from monopolizing conversations with multiple posts, crowding out other posters, wasn't it? I'm not sure that it's having that effect, or that it could have that effect.

Prost!
Brad

Thanks for all the support guys and a special thank you to Joe (The Lt) for keeping the 66th Regiment thread running for me in the Trophy section:salute:::salute:::salute::

I’m do my utmost to keep within the monthly thread count after all I voted that I thought it a good idea ^&grin

Now back to the Happy Hobby of Toy Soldier collecting

Cheers all

Martyn:)
