This set is my personal fave of the releases (MG set)and its good to see CS now releasing US Inf for Normandy. Wonder if there are any Brit paras on the Horizon?:wink2:

The rifle the standing soldier is firing looks like it is long enough to be the one Daniel Day Lewis used in the Last of the Mohicans (a Pennsylvania Flintlock Rifle). I am waiting to see if there is another figure released in this series where the solider is pouring gun powder down the barrel in preparation for the next shot.

The rifles do seem over long in the photos but it should be noted that the M1 Garand rifle was a heafty weapon and at 1100mm/44" in length it was much longer and more powerful weapon than the M1 Carbine that some confuse it with, not saying that anyone here did.

I'm also not saying anything about those members that comment about Collectors Showcase products but rarely if ever make critical comments about 'their' favorite company :wink2:

Yup, I own each one of those rifles so no mistaking it there. Every time I pick the Garand up I am amazed at how heavy it is, I can only imagine what it was like carrying that around all day. I can’t tell if the rifle the figure has is long because it was made that way or if it looks longer because of the bayonet as some have alluded too? I will check it out in person when Sierra gets it in stock.

I do own a few Collectors’ Showcase pieces so I can’t really speak to the second part. Mostly it is not my cup of tea, but I keep looking at their new stuff in the hopes that I will like it enough to purchase it.

The CS M1 is too long, but TGM's M1 is too skinny. KC's M1 is too big, but the best depicted. I have not seen a FL M1. The M1 rifle is heavy, as Panzer Ace stated, but the beauty of its weight makes the M1 rifle very steady and accurate. You can acquire the target very easily. My favorite rifle.

I was just going to ask if the snaps on the ammo pouches are supposed to be brass or black?
So you were not talking about me were you?

For me, it was also not just the length of rifle but, the poor sculpting also. If one looks at it its straight then it bends so, its as I said at the beginning poor and, deflects IMO from the figures.

All manufacturers struggle with weapons and, its the point where they should be getting it right. Weapons etc are concrete in size and, thus scale and accuracy should not be an issue. For me, it looks like poor design and sculpting

I've never owned a 30.06 but borrowed a friends for a time. I had a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser for several years, similar balistics to a 30.06 and although it was an ex military weapon that was well used it was still accurate, and the ammo was cheap. I eventually sold the 6.5 and bought a 243 as an all rounder rifle because the 6.5 was overkill for most Aussie game.

TCS Normandy sets got me back into German stuff and I hope they keep the Waffen SS Figures and Vehicles coming. I know the Grey and Eastern Front sets have gained some ground with collectors but I suspect the Tri Color gear still out sells them.

Yup, when I compare the Garand to my other rifles I am amazed at the quality and heftiness of the rifle. It feels so much sturdier than any of my modern assault rifles. It is such an old rifle too, yet still as accurate as ever.

In the toy soldier world it is very hard to find the perfect depiction of a Garand, especially when I look at the real thing. The same goes for when I look at MG-42’s, some companies nail it others are far off (Before anyone wonders, I do own an MG 42, however it has been demilled and does not fire).

The 2ND US Division is Good looking and should have ADD-ONS a .30CAL Browing Water Cooled MG Team, and a BAZOOKA Team, and Last a MORTAR Team!CHOW BABY! :wink2:^&cool
