New release: Hetzer made in the usa! (2 Viewers)

Great looking Vehicle,Hetzers every where,now you lucky folks in the US will be able to head to Texas and take tours of the factory.
Anyone on the Forum apply for a job there,if a TS company came to Perth i would be first in line for work..............^&grin i can't paint but i can pack.
Will you be doing tours Brian?
I know Brad did one of the Figarti factory that would be awesome to see the whole process.

I wouldn't wanna do a tour of a TS factory, i would never come out!! ^&grin

Any chance we could get the production costs for this model in the US versus China? Maybe not exact figures but some sort of sample comparison.

Even if costs the same there would be savings on shipment and also cut down on trips to China and make quality control easier.

Certainly an interesting move by Brian and CS and to be commended for it as it creates jobs in USA.

Can't see that happening

We don't usually agree on much.... but I definitely agree with your post.

USA...USA...USA....^&grin
Excellent news and very very impressive tank Brian.
This tank and the Sherman will be included in my collection {sm4}

Hetzer vehicle detail looks great as do the figures. Also kudos for moving production to the US.

But I gotta ask, does anyone else think the green on the Normandy version looks too bright? To me it looks a little lime green. The green on the treads looks darker/better and seems to go with the darker green of previous German AFVs.

Is this color representative of the final product, as many previous vehicles when released have looked slightly different than their "New Release" press photo.

Three colour camo often is done poorly on models with the green too dark and the Brown too light. The Rotbraun Dark Brown should be the darkest colour followed by green and Dunklegelb Yellow is the lightest. That's the order of darkness they should stay in even when dust covered or faded. The top photo is the most faded and you can see how light the yellow is, and even the green is fairly light with a lime tinge. The second photo is less faded and the 3rd photo looks closest to factory fresh. Note that the Brown is always the darkest colour, then Green then Yellow.

Terry,

Thanks for the explanation and comparison pics. I think the middle King Tiger picture you posted is very representative of the coloring and paint schemes of my CS Panther, Pz IV, King Tiger etc. The impression I had may also just be due to the fact that green is the dominant color on the Hetzer where other vehicles had a lot more brown and yellow in them. As long as the green on the Normandy Hetzer is the same shade as all CS's previous releases I mentioned I will be happy.

The detail on it looks great especially the MG34. It looks very realistic.

I prefer AFVs that don't look exactly the same anyway. There was always some variation in the field - older tanks beside new replacement vehicles.

There are a couple of photos of Hetzer #214s on the internet with somewhat similar paint schemes (shown from the right side).
Is the CS Hetzer #214 based on a real one?.....If so, does anyone have any detailed history on it in terms of unit, etc?

A nice model of a pragmatic AFV.

As for the colors, I think they are consistent stylistically with CS other AFVs which tend to be quite bright. I think the wavey winter camo is an improvement over the older solid style which was too even for my liking and didn't look like it was field applied. This looks hastily sprayed on by a maintenance unit. {bravo}}

Re Terry's point regarding the standard German colors. Here is an example:

Note how you can make out the three distinct shades.

Here are some shots of factory fresh Hetzers featuring both standard hard edged and hard edged disk factory camo schemes
