Good Morning everyone

This month we have no less than 6 new releases from John, as you all know I already think these are brilliant. We saw most of this is the prototype stage when we visited him in Hong Kong in April and seeing them come to life is really outstanding.

I would highly recommend the Log Cabin, for use is any diorama of this period and of course the British flag set.

I hope you enjoy the latest releases as much as I do. I will have these on the web site later on today.

Very best regards
Mike

BATTLE ON SNOWSHOES

A Battalion of the of the Regiment de La Reine was one of 6 battalions of French regular infantry that was sent out to Canada in 1755.

During the voyage from France, 4 of the companies were captured when their transport ship was intercepted by the Royal Navy off Newfoundland. The remaining men of the La Reine battalion were to be one of the first Regular troops to be engaged in battle in North America.

One company from the Regiment de La Reine, accompanied Lagy’s French force and played a part in the defeat of Roger’s Rangers at the Battle On Snowshoes.

This was approximately one sixth of the men who took part in the action at Chippewa on the American side.

28th REGIMENT OF FOOT
Also this month for The Battle Of The Plains Of Abraham Collection, is the first set of a new Infantry Regiment.

The 28th Regiment of Foot, Bragge’s Regiment (named after its commanding officer) was originally raised in 1694 and was known as “Sir John Gibson’s Regiment”

It was re-named the 28th Regiment of Foot in 1751.

The 28th arrived in Canada in 1757 and although held in reserve, played a part in the siege and capture of Louisburg in 1758.

The 28th were one of the first regiments which scaled the heights to the Plains of Abraham, and helped form the main battle line against the French.

The Regiment was later knick-named “The Old Braggs”

The usual additional variations of the firing line sets will be added at a later date, along with Grenadiers and command sets

THE RAID ON ST. FRANCIS

This month to add to the Stockade and Blockhouse sets, is another useful addition to the Raid on St. Francis series. This Log Cabin can be used on its own, or together with the previously released Stockade and Blockhouse sets.

The cabin can be incorporated into the Stockade, or situated inside the fort itself.

The roof can be removed, and the door can be opened.

The flexibility of this piece once again allows the possibility for lots of fun, and to help display and bring your figures to life.

All great stuff as usual, but some repetitive poses and prices appear to be creeping up. The release numbers are all over the place again.

You're killing me here Mike. I certainly will get the 44th Standard Bearer, at least 2 cabins, and the Chippawa wounded set. I thought the Chippawa command set w/drummer was going to be issued too?? Thanks for the great pics of things to come -

Mike

Now, that log cabin is a very fine item and can be used with many other lines as well.
Great work!

Combat,

On your comments:

I agree the poses are again the same or similar for the BM-11, SF-03, QB-09 & QB-11. USCH-06 is different. But that is the trouble with Toy Soldier poses from 1700, 1800 & 1900 they were very set piece like.

Prices again I agree, but I do not think we have seen the last rise. John's first sets started at $23 per figure now going $28 per figure (+22%). For the quality and limited number $28 each a bargain. Wait to end of next year when they are $35 per figure.

On the release number comment, no disagree except for the BM-11.

USCH-06 x 500 sets as per other USCH sets.

Log Cabin x 350 sets (+100 sets more than Blockhouse)

SF-03 x 500 sets as per other Snowshoes sets.

BM-11 x 400 sets, do not know how that works when only 250 sets of BM-03 made (Regimental Colors)

QB-09 & QB-20 x 750 sets as per other Quebec sets.

Great figures again.

Mestell,

Chippawa command set w/drummer USCH-10 was released this month, these are August 2008 releases. Dealer already have USCH-10 or should.

Great releases as normal. I especially like USCH-06 - Scott’s Brigade - 4 Wounded Figures. The expressions on their faces are extremely realistic. Superb!

I discovered that this aftenoon Aussie when I visited the Sierra site and the Treefrog site. Missed it altogether  I thought I had it preordered, but apparently not. Now I have another set I can buy in August. :) I am supposed to be semi-retired. With my JJD habit and my new addiction to the K&C Crusader series I might have to go back to working full time

COOL - but when will we see a WWII version - say a German Bunker with removable roof etc. Maybe that has limitations but is was a good scene on Saving Private Ryan where the GI's attacked one from the front with flame throwers and shot the guys coming out the back door.

It was brought to my attention that the VM-04 figures were smaller then other sets.I set these figures up against indians I have and they matched up pretty well but when I stood them against the Beaujeu figure he towered over them.Someone else on another forum put the standing firing figure against the same type figures in VM-02 and BM-08 and it was smaller. Now humans vary in size so it doesn't bother me but what do the rest of the Jenkins gang think. One collector is going to email Mr.Jenkins to bring this to his attention.

The scale issue is more problematic to me with vehicles which were built at standardized sizes. Anyone who has attend a reenactment can tell you there are all types of human sizes and shapes that vary a lot more than these figures. I heard someone say that the minimum French height limitation during that period was 4'9. George Washington was over 6 feet. So imagine that contrast. Ideally, they would be uniform, but not a big deal so long as the difference is not too drastic.

I recieved notification that BM-11 and SF-03 are on their way to me.Not the log cabin yet .

Well, we haven't seen much discussion here, but the commie Olympics appear to be impacting our toy soldier releases. Probably due to the pollution from the factories. Everything is kaput until the journalists leave.

They are not commie anymore, they became ordinary fascists ( the Government I mean ), although after all both things are the same:D:D:D.
