New releases in Toy Soldier Magazine (3 Viewers)

I saw the Toy Soldier magazine and there was an advert for new First Legion figures, the new series that lept out at me were the Pirates, they did look great, all very distinctive. My first question would be "Does there need to be an opposing group?" They did look like pictures of actual figures, so First Legion must have had the masters done and that would have been a significant outlay.

I read this on another post as well that FL previewed some new figures. I'd love to see the pics of these new figures from all ranges if anyone has them. Thanks!

Wow, the figures are amazing. I have always been a fan of Ancient Assyrians. I dont really drink, dont smoke and dont gamble but still dont think i could afford them. I am awaiting to see how much the Franco Prussian War artillery will be. That has come up in a thread in recent times

10.Franco-Prussian war Cuirassiers

I would think that it will take multiple months to release the above...

Assyrians look great but at $95 a figure I will pass.
Let's see the Franco-Prussian War sets which hopefully are more reasonably priced for my collecting.

Sort of agree - there has been complaining about prices forever, but i do think the new stuff is very expensive. I think this is more compounded by the increase and nature of competition in the TS market. K & C, JJD, T Gunn and new players such as Warpark are offering the collector a multitude of eras/ranges [released at regular intervals] at a more affordable price, with generally 2 figures for the price of a single F Legion figure. With quality not being any or signifiantly higher.

I don’t want to position myself as the high priest of FL because I have a lot of K & C and some JJD and TG in my collection but these companies aren’t on the same level of quality or detail of FL. That is one of the reasons they cost more. It’s the same reason why Russian figures cost more than any other figures. No one denies FL is expensive but so are a lot of things. As an aside, I can’t actually believe we are having this conversation again.

No one doubts FL quality but with these prices, there is zero competition with other toy soldiers companies.

I'm sure there are many collectors out there who can afford these. Peter Jackson comes to mind, as does Rod Stewart, Phil Collins and I'm sure many more with deep deep pockets.

There never seems to be any shortage of collectors purchasing Russian figures and they are far more expensive than FL. Just the other day, a retired early FL Stalingrad figure sold for $230, an amount that took me by surprise. In addition, the prices that people will pay for collectibles dwarfs the prices for FL figures. My son collects graded Pokémon cards and the prices people pay for some of them run into the hundreds and thousands.

What I am saying is that the prices charged by FL are not the province of the wealthy but the ordinary collector.

I agree, great figures.
Some can afford it - or they just collect less sets/year.

Also, I have solved your financial problems. Still don't drink or smoke (good job) but gamble on everything and win... Oh, and cut out eating, it's expensive:wink2:
