Hi all, well with all the discussion that went on about pricing of the new Resin/plastic line and from what I gather from the past weeks London show I thought there would be more talk?? So if I'm correct it sounds like you buy 2 soldiers for around 29 bucks, (if I read it correctly) which to me is a very good deal from the looks of the soldiers that were posted at the show, the Sherman on the other hand still to me is lacking to much detail for the price, but again for the individual soldier sets I think K&C have a good thing going there...Sammy

I agree here about the tank and the figure price. Not sure though trying to change folks who have moved on from plastic when predominantly kids to metal will work?? I am a metal kind of person and have no interest in beginning to start buying plastic again.

I am sure with the higher prices and month after month increases that some will buy these because they are K&C and like the product name and, that they can afford them to build the multiple lines they once had and, good luck but, not sure this is turning the hobby on its head introducing plastic but, each to their own!!

I guess I'm a metal guy as well, and don't think that will change but as for K&C collectors who want to use multiples/ fill ins I think the soldiers at the London show will find a nice niche in this hobby, as long as decent quality remains this line should do well, I mentioned on Canada that if Conte had kept up with their plastic line and pricing he would be doing very well...Sammy

Hi Sammy, the prices I quoted in my show post were the ones Andy gave me while I was taking the photos. Having held these in my hand and having a good look all I can say is that they give value for money - I can't think of any other painted plastic figures that are available to this standard.

Agree Jeff, from the photos that you all posted they looked pretty good to me, did Andy mention what lines would be covered in this new product??...Sammy

As a devout Alamo collector I have to say I wasn't all that impressed by the pictures posted from the show . I am also at a loss to explain that if these figures are primarily being issued to pad out dioramas then why on earth do we get a Santa Anna as by my recollection there was only 1 of him at the siege.

Im afraid I won't be investing in them and just keep to the metal lines .

From the pictures they look very nice. As it is, if the figure is going to sit on a shelf to admire, what diference does it make if it's plastic or not? The only time the difference is going to be noticable is when you pick it up. Yeah, metal does 'feel' better than plastic, I understand that. But I wouldn't base all my purchases on how it actually feels.
As far as the tank, I can see why that seems less appealing. However, for some, this is just a blank slate to customize as you'd like. Again, does it just come down to how it feels?

I like K&C, but with a fixed retirement income can't buy a lot of what I like in metal. This will be a nice way to do so. I'm for it. I hope the range expands.

I attended the London Show last Saturday and went home with one of the new KnC Shermans. I thought it looked a lot better in reality than the photos that preceded its release. I have alway wished to add a Sherman to my D-day collection and this seemed a good, and fairly cheap way to achieve it. I understand that the mark of Sherman modelled may not be appropriate for date and theatre but I, for one, can happily live with that. Sixty-nine pounds is not cheap (but about the current rate here in the UK for a FoV model which are of course 1/32). It is certainly easier on the pocket than the two-hundred pound plus being charged, say for the new Jagdpanther. So the chance to have access to vehicles that are cheaper and only slightly less detailed than their polystone cousins is to be appaluded and a development I for one welcome. It will be interesting to see what the next vehicle in the KnC range will be. For myself I would like to see a StuG.

I do not collect the "Alamo" range but the plastic Mexican soldiers on display on the K&C stand looked perfectly acceptable and impressive en masse. If I was a Napoleonic collector I would be looking forward to the potential that such a development opens up. From what Andy was saying last Saturday I got the impression however, that the World War II figure ranges will remain a metal preserve. Which now doubt will be regarded by many as good news.

As I collect kits I have metal and resin and sitting on the shelf you can't tell the difference.I do not know why people down resin as you can get much better detail.Does it break, sure it does but so does metal.I can understand it if you talk about soft plastic with the floppy guns and swords.

Or perhaps some will buy them because they are nice figures for a good price no matter who makes them.

Mitch, you assume that K&C collectors are blind followers who buy for the name on the label. A lot of people actually like the products!

This thread wasn't created to start a war of words but just my personal opinion on the new line that K&C have developed, and for that price and detail I would surely be in line to buy some if I collected any of those lines, right now anything that can possibly lower pricing in our hobby is a good thing, most every company in the toy soldier hobby have increased over the last so many years and now maybe companies will all be involved in getting prices lowered again and keeping us middle income folks involved in this great hobby, and I believe this is a step in the right direction...Sammy

Excellent post! I think this innovation is good for the hobby and I applaud K&C for embarking on it.

Will these new KC Alamo figures be
available by the Westcoaster ?

I would think figures painted such as these KnC Alamo Mexican figures with an asking price of 2 Figures for $29.00 / $14.50 each is an affordable and very good value...............IMO
My own current collecting interest is WWII European Theater. I have always had an interest in the Alamo figures but did not want to take away spending funds allocated to buy WWII.
Now with this price point I may just go out and get an Alamo Dio Façade, a few Texan defenders and add in these new Mexican figures......maybe 6 for $87.00 ! Works for me.

The Santa Anna figure may be the metal one or could have plastic made one so it would be more affordable for some.

Assembled....painted...and all set to go, $29,that is value for money...I was looking at a plastic 1/35 kit of a single figure at about $20/30 the other day and thought I would have to paint and assemble it but that was okay if it interested me ....if K&C make painted plastic that I am interested in I will be the first to buy them.....though I am not that interested in 1/30 scale.....cheers TomB
