New valentine (1 Viewer)

The new Valentine is a cracker but i think a captured one in AK markings would be a good release as well.

Tom

Here is an Ak example to ponder upon....................

A simple job to re-decal. I can see one going grey and like the idea of a Russian one for a Kursk dio where they were with Grants and Cromwell's

Good idea see what John reckons......................^&grin

I think you mean Lees and Churchills!

The Allies sent no Grants and only 6 Cromwells to Russia. For anyone who wants to do AFV conversion to Russian markings, here is a list of Lend Lease equipment the Allies sent to Russia.

USA

M3 Lee 1400
M4A2 Sherman 4100
M17 Quad MG 1000

Halftracks 1200
M3A1 Scout Car 3300
Jeep 78000
1-1/2 ton truck 151000
2-1/2 ton truck 201000

And the Valentine fits in well with the current emphasis on 1942 Russia. Present in the the Operation Blue/Caucasus battles

The Germans did capture and use Valentine tanks in North Afrika. There are numerous examples. They were tough little tanks. German 37mm AP was ineffective against it. 50mm AP had to be within 600m of the side armour to penetrate. But the Valentines 2 pdr could penetrate the front armour of a Panzer III at 1000m, and the side armour of Panzer III and IV at 1900m. It took the introduction of the 75mm gun to make the Valentine vulnerable at long range.
