This is update on upcoming World War II movie and tv projects.

THE DAM BUSTERS--Peter Jackson said in a December, 2012 interview about his remake of the 1955 movie, "DAM BUSTERS is on hold while I finish THE HOBBIT. THE HOBBIT wasn't something I intended to get involved in [as much] as I did, so there was an option at one stage I'd be shooting THE DAM BUSTERS while Guillermo [del Toro] was shooting THE HOBBIT, but as things ended up going, THE DAM BUSTERS has just had to sit on the sidelines...But it's there. The Lancasters are built. We've got ten built for us sitting in storage. And it's ready to go as soon as we possibly can." Les Munro, the last surviving member of the Dam Busters raid, has signed on as a technical adviser.

Dale Dye (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, BAND OF BROTHERS), who is the writer/director, was scouting filming locations in Louisiana in January.It is not known if the original cast is still with the movie, but Max Martini (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN) and James Madio (BAND OF BROTHERS) were in the original cast.

Two competing theatrical movies about the Flying Tigers from Tom Cruise and John Woo were announced several years ago, but nothing has been mentioned about either one of them since. Woo said at the time that he wanted Liam Neeson to play Claire Chennault and his movie would have, "The most spectacular aerial battle scenes ever seen in Chinese cinema."

Thanks for posting all this info. Some very interesting things being done. ^&cool -- Al

Thanks for the intel; can`t wait to see these on the big screen!

Dam Busters looks good, wonder if Peter Jackson asked the owners of the only flying Lanc if it could be used in the film. Panzer 88 looks dodgy, not sure if i would like a movie about an entity running around on the battlefield! {sm2}

Tom

Monte Cassino and men at Arnhem sound like they will be very interesting.

Great info and much appreciated post. Many of these look quite fun, especially Dam Busters and Flying Tigers but you lost me on the SS Zombies, can't Sean find better work than that?:(

Thanks for the update. Includes some I had not heard of before this.
Whatever happened to "The Few", supposed to be a movie about BIlly FIske, an American in the RAF starring Tom Cruise?
Chris

What may happen is the next generation of WW II films will mythologize the war as a good vs. evil epic. Not a bad thing in general.
