Next "Limited Edition Warbirds" (2 Viewers)

Simon,

Thanks. I've put an offer. In response to Louis' comment about the other pilot, K & C said it was Del Prado but I haven't seen or been able to find that one either.

Simon,

Thanks for your help again. Bought and paid for the figure so it should be on its way to me soon. However, the seller (very nice by the way), whose ebay store name is Drum and Flag, and who has seven pages of Del Prado listings had never seen the pilot in the photo so it remains a mystery. In addition, it's not listed on the Del Prado site. Maybe it's a future offering.

Hmmmm,

The seller, Rupert Mitchell, is a fairly well established e-seller in the UK. I'm not that well up on Del Prado.

I still think its going to appear in a future K&C release involving an Allied aircraft/aircrew. Either that or its a prototype for a Del Prado item not yet released.

I think the latter because King and Country said it was Del Prado and it's got a Del Prado base, not your usual King and Country base.

Sorry Jazzuem for getting the dealers name completely wrong but great to know you got your man. Put it down to too little sleep.

My vintage K&C Corsair arrives tomorrow! To me all the old and new wood warbirds are works of art.

That is a joke . The cost is far to much for a plane that doesn't look that great anyway. You are making this for the rich and only to make money.Your work is good but remember there toys not the cost of a morgage.Maybe your wealth has got into the way you reason these days and think everything you make is worth the price of a arm and leg. Will not buy these and am thinking why are they so dear. The cost of poly resin hasn't increased that much.

Wow, these comments I'm sure are going to warrant a great response from some collectors. I'm guessing that the cost is high due to the amount of man hours it takes to build as I'm sure each one is custom made. Just think if they were manufactured in America they would for sure cost three times as much. Additionally, that picture showing the Typhoon doesn’t do it justice at all. In my opinion, the plane itself is a knock out. No doubt due to countless hours of attention to detail and impeccable craftsmanship. That’s just my take on it. I do respect and like that you posted your true opinion and feelings about the Warbirds, even though I take massive exception to it.

Have a great day

These are built in Asia were $25.00 US is a good wage a month for working people.Having travelled alot in third world countries I no how much they depend on the west. The profit on these planes is well over the top.I would love to buy these planes but over $600.00 US your kidding.

Well if cost is your concern try CORGI,they do a excellent but somewhat limited 1/32 range, try ebay you can get a Corgi Bf109 and crew for about £75-$150 plus postage and i have seen Douglas Baders Hurricane for £39-$80 ,they also do a Mosquito in 1/32nd but i have not seen that in person. All King&country have to do is offer some aircrew and groud support for say the major nations in ww2,problem solved:confused:

The Corsair is beautiful Louis. I have one and it is one of my favorites. I have to agree on the objections to the high price of the limited warbirds, but I have to say that's why there are only 12 or so planes being produced. If you want an exclusive, you have to be willing to pay for it. I buy the 21st century and Forces of Valor planes. They are made well and fit well into the defense budget.

I agree with Chris. While Simpson is certainly entitled to his opinion about the cost (they are certainly expensive) the planes are incredibly detailed, hand made from mohagony, and extremely limited production from the most collectible name in the toy soldier hobby. I think they are best compared to the level of quality and detail available from Aeroart St. Petersburg. So with all due respect for Simpson's opinion, I will keep collecting them.

Ditto that. There have been many a person who says what is the big deal about these Warbirds and then when they see them in person, all you hear is oohs and aahs and "Now, I know what you what were talking about." And that is about the old Warbirds. The detail on the new ones are incredible, a quantum leap from the old ones, which are amazing in and of themselves.

Yeah, these are expensive, no doubt about it. Toys can be expensive and frankly I don't see anybody screaming about the new cost of the iPhone from Apple. People just like their toys, whatever it costs.

As far as Andy's profit, that's frankly a question for Andy. I'm a collector and not a businessman.

Who knows or cares how much it costs KC to make these planes. The only important question is how much collectors will spend to purchase them. The fact that a company is out to make a profit - even a large one - is not a legitimate source of criticism. They are not a charity. That's how they stay in business. If these planes are overpriced, then no one will buy them. However, they seem to be selling well.

Which version do you have? I know of WWII USN and USMC, Korean War USMC, post-war French Navy, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and Australian Navy versions (and there could be more).

Hahahahaha :p

Man, Nothing like stiring the pot for the old reaction - huh Simpson? ;)

Well, believe it or not - I agree with your opinion the price for the New Warbirds is way out of hand - but, Andy wants to appeal to a certain collector - thats his call. I am sure there are plenty guys like Louis out there who can throw down that kind of money for a single plane for their collections. For me - no.

I will wait on the sidelines for the mass production item and enjoy the next level down on K&C Warbird production. Nothing against the other guys who want the "High End" - but, at some point in my collecting there has to be a limit - my personal defense budget isnt on the scale of the Pentagon :D
