The only thing worse than the officiating and non-contact etc. is the amount of commercials. I am amazed at how many times the play is interrupted for a commercial break. I can see having commercials after a touchdown, but a new set of commercials after the kick off following a TD? I don't think we are far from having commercials in between each down. I watched the Pats and Broncos tonight and the amount of commercials pretty much ruined it for me.
What a shame for a game like this to end that way. It probably would have been fitting to have ended in a tie. I'd hate to be that guy right now.
Last night's game was a wonderful game. If you couldn't enjoy that, well, time for another sport.
I can't imagine playing (or watching) in those conditions. Brutal.
Peyton just doesn't do well in cold.
Had a couple of calls gone their way, the Pats would be 10-1.
Nope, he's built for a dome, which begs the question what was he thinking going to Denver.
And he's lucky Talib committed a dumb PI penalty on that INT he threw when it was 31-24, that would have iced the game for New England.
And you are right, the Patriots could very well be 10-1, even 11-0 if you think about it.
Not to use injuries as an excuse, but their offense was a train wreck vs the Bengals, they had a first and goal at the 2 and could not score, they lost 13-6, they lost the Jets game on a horrible call and lost the Carolina game on a non call in the end zone, all by a combined 17 points.
The fact that they could be 11-0 and are flawed so badly defensively speaks volumes for how weak the NFL really is.
I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to anyone that wasted their time watching the Monday Night game involving the Redskins. What a terrible example of 'pro' football by the Redskins. It was an embarrassment for Washington and it's fans. Congratulations to the 49er's for winning. Boy, they just need to blow the Redskins up and start over.:redface2: -- Al

George, the sad truth is that last season was a fluke, fueled by RG3, and everyone knew a repeat was going to be tough. Even if RG3 hadn't been injured, this season was going to be hit or miss. The Redskins simply don't have very good personal, especially to support a learning Qb, and especially with the Shanahan's running things. Just no continuity in any aspect of the game, with the defense, special teams, and the passing game being just awful. Shanahan has worn out his welcome with 3 of his 4 seasons being terrible and his one good year, last year, being an obvious fluke. This whole organization needs an overhaul. -- AlI feel badly for you Al, I caught bits and pieces of that game; at one point with about seven minutes left in the game the Redskins had zero first downs in the second half.
As in none.
What happened to them, they were a playoff team last year, they are just terrible.
You and the rest of the fans deserve better, that is for sure.
And that Giants/Redskins game next Sunday night is going to be a feast for the eyes, can't wait.

I am not so sure RG3 was the real reason for the team success last year. The biggest difference was they made far fewer mistakes and did not get behind early. Power running teams have trouble when they get behind and the Skins are no different this year. The learning QB problem is nothing new. It is a fact that the most sought after QBs go to the least successful teams from the prior season. Such is the way of the draft. That often means that these teams struggle for several years or that those QBs have to learn faster than others drafted later. Unfortunately for the Skins, the price paid to get RG3 may in fact have been just too high, at least for the short term and while the team has some solid talent at many positions, it definitely has gapping holes at others. Couple that with the salary cap "change the rules" fiasco which cost them some valuable free agents and their lack of success is not surprising.George, the sad truth is that last season was a fluke, fueled by RG3, and everyone knew a repeat was going to be tough. The change also shows how defenses have adjusted to the more mobile QB offenses using players like both Kapernick and RG3. It further shows that you need to make good decisions as a QB and we are not seeing that from RG3 this year. I always had the fear that he was more a runner than a passer and his passing success last year mostly came when his running caused his receivers to be extremely open. That is not the NFL norm. Good QBs find the open man and make the tight passes work. We are not seeing either from him at that moment. A big arm is nice but other attributes, like accuracy and decision making are far more important. QBs like Brees, Manning, Rogers and Brady demonstrate that nearly every week.
RG3 may or may not have what it takes to become a great QB; at this point it is less than clear that he can become a good QB. He has many talents but he is fragile and his response to adversity this year has been underwhelming. He looked lost last night, as he has for most of this season. Yes the blocking could be better but amusingly it is better than last year. He is just holding the ball to long or making decisions too late. Funny thing is that the Skins best success has come with good QBs, not great ones, with a lot of grit and determination from the rest of the team. I worry that drafting him was yet another example of the grabbing for a quick fix mentality that has left the team without much success for the last two decades. Thus whether RG3 is the right fit for this team remains a real question for me, as it was last year.
