They were playing clips on the afternoon talk radio show today of Carroll's interview on the Today Show where he defended his decision to thrown second down and blow the Super Bowl.

Seriously?

Jesus Pete, please just stop talking.

Go away for a vacation to an island with the coed you were shacking up with at USC and STOP already.

This guy was made for a West Coast market; if he blew a Super Bowl like he did and he was the coach of the Patriots, Giants, Eagles or Redskins, he wouldn't be able to leave his house. In Seattle, it's all hugs, kisses, "It's ok Petey, we still love you, the 12's have your back, go get em next year coach!!"

Grady Little had a brain fart in the 2003 ALCS, left Pedro in too long and got fired; Pete the poodle is a hero in Seattle.

In my mind, he'll always be remembered for this epic gag job and for getting his head handed to him in a post game press conference by a sports writer up here named Ron Borges when he coached the Patriots. Have never seen a reporter before or since lay into a professional coach like that and he just stood there with his mouth open.

Mr "Pumped and jacked."

Yes we love Pete and it's just a game and yes we are nice people in the Pacific Northwest :wink2:. We will back next year and BTW there is a new little Sherman today :rolleyes2: That said congrats again to the Patriots...

Check out the footage of him wired for sound on the NFL network running up and down the sideline on every play, laughing and pumping his fists, jumping up and down, shadow boxing or whatever he's doing. His "OH NO!!" and dropping of his headset on the INT is being played over and over and over.

Wilson walks over to him afterward and says "What happened?".....................Seriously; what happened? You threw the ball and were standing right there, how could you not know what happened?

Run the read option on second down and either hand it off to Lynch or run it yourself. If that doesn't work, call your last time out, then throw on third down and if that doesn't work, give it to Lynch, last play of the game and see what happens.

Pretty simple.

And after seeing the segment where Lynch and Gronk play a video game, Lynch is a cool guy IMO, just misunderstood. He's one Hell of player too, truly a beast. This media thing is way overblown; he's ok in my book, major respect for him and how he plays the game. And Wilson is a nice guy too, doesn't run his mouth, just plays the game.

Sherman...........................well, great talent, talks on the field way too much, but that was a classy move at the end of the game between him and Brady. He's a great, great talent, that is for sure, very smart guy too.

I hope the team can put this behind them, you wonder how they view Carroll now, time will tell.........................

You're a little too tough on Pete, George. Yes, he's a West Coast guy from San Francisco area and people see things a little differently, which I think it's good. He's taking the responsibility for the mistake, which is what he should do. After having observed him for the last two weeks, I kind of like him.

By the way, there is no guarantee that they win the game if Lynch runs the ball. I believe the Patriots were in a goal line defense.

If that play turns out differently, Bellicheck is getting roasted. Instead, it's Pete that's on the griddle.

By the way, I never heard of that press conference so I'm sure most haven't either.

He followed Parcells here from 1997-1999, he inherited a Super Bowl runner up, a young, up and coming team with Bledsoe as the QB, Terry Glenn and Ben Coates, Curtis Martin and a very good defense, Lawyer Milloy, Teddy Bruschi, Ted Johnson among others and they proceeded to go 10-6, 9-7 and 8-8 and he was gone.

I'm not being hard on him, I'm being honest.

He was also the head coach of the Jets for a year and bombed there too.

Two East Coast cities, 0-2.

He found a perfect spot at USC, but he burned that program to the ground and left the mess for someone else to clean up.

As far as the press conference, it made national headlines, surprised the NY Post didn't run with it; nice headlines from them the past few weeks too with all the cheap shots vs the Patriots.

They've got nothing on the National Enquirer......................

You were talking about Pete in the present earlier, not early Pete. Yes, he had mixed success and he was gone. That press conference was, what, 10 years ago? Does anybody really care, except maybe in Boston?

He obviously came into his own out on the West Coast and has found a home in Seattle. The city seems tailor made for him.

Not everybody succeeds initially. Belichek had trouble in Cleveland (although not all his fault) but found a home where he is.

Pete has been a magnanimous loser. You guys won. Not sure what more you want.

Season's over. Time to move on to preparing for next year.

PS I don't look at the Post; reading is a bit too strong a word when it comes to that rag. However, the NY media will give it to the Pats when they can. That's just the rivalry between the two cities. Anyway, the Pats had the last laugh. Isn't that what counts? :wink2:

ESPN is reporting the Bills are on the verge of signing Richie Incognito.

Wow.

Seriously?

Way to go Rex.

Don't ever change.

Unbelievable. Why would anyone sign that guy?

Well Rex did say something about wanting to be bullies..............:rolleyes2:

Maybe to grab headlines?

Time will tell.....................

As much as he was a media star and had initial success in New York, I think Brad might admit he's glad the guy is gone, the circus has left town so to speak.................

Yes, I'm glad he's gone. He will be doing the same thing in Buffalo he did here. Good luck to those fans.

I have to imagine that the truly innovative coaching staffs out there are looking at that play in the SB and, God Im hoping, the NFL is starting to face the reality of just how deeply ingrained the pass mentaility is across the board. I was so proud of Dallas showing some innovation and building up the line and keeping to what has always made them succesful in years past- the run game. The NFL has just gone more and more and more to the pass that you can take a phenomenal coach like PC and have him even suffer from pass envy. My 8 year old son was sitting on the couch next to me and said "Lynch up the gut.....wait....what????" If an 8 year old with 2 years of smurf football experience can see it then something is clearly wrong with the overall mentality in the NFL.

No doubt a RB will be a first rounder this year.

And all the arm tackling lets strip the ball instead of putting a helmet on a guy safetys and corners will be getting blown onto their backsides and the shoddy tackling the NFL suffers from will be exposed as well.
