George
So Revis is gone , he went for the money
Do u think he will be going to the SB with the Jets, don't think so
They need more than Revis
There going nowhere with Babba Smith at Qb
The pats they always find a way to get a guy or two
that fits the demand
Well let see how it will turnout
Brady and the boys

I saw the details of his contract; looks pretty team friendly to me, I have no idea why the Patriots did not resign him if those where the numbers they needed to match.

Also, I have no idea why they cut Browner either.

The AFC is wide open this year and they were the frontrunner on Tuesday morning; a day later, they are just another team now.

Revis is a HOF player, it's impossible to replace him.

"Back where he belongs"...........I guess once you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, right Brad?............:rolleyes2:

Why don't they bring back Cromartie too just to piss Rex off, might as well bring Sanchez back too while they're at it.

What a clownshow.

You may call it a clownshow but Rex has left town and this new administration is a whole different kettle of fish and by their movies, they are showing they are not fooling around. They won't make headlines like Rex did. They may not be good this year but in a couple of years they will.

The Bills are not screwing around either.

If I were you, I'd worry who is going to stop the other team's receivers and who's going to protect your QB, now that Suh is in the division.

It's going to a very tight division. I'd still favor your team, but not by a heck of a lot.

Yup, once you're a Jets, you're a Jet all the way. Wonder if the Pats have as good a song :wink2:

He has his ring and went where the money is. Careers are short in the NFL so you can't begrudge anyone the money.

I'm glad he's back. Back where he belongs.

Revis is the only guy I can remember that seems to Be a free agent every year?

I read today that Jason Worields is retiring?? Also Willis, Locker all retiring at early ages??

Using the word "contract" in the NFL is a bit of a misnomer because so few of them are guaranteed unlike baseball where they are all guaranteed (which is why in the NFL distinctions are drawn between non-guaranteed and guaranteed contracts).

In the case of Revis, I recall that in the last year of his contract with the Jets, they couldn't agree on the next one (and he may have been threatening to hold out again) so they traded him and I believe he signed a new one with Tampa Bay, which I believe wasn't guaranteed as they released him a year ago. I believe -- but could be wrong -- that he then signed a two year with the Pats, with the second one being the Pats club option for $20 million, which they wisely -- from a financial perspective -- declined.

I call it a clownshow because it is a clownshow, been that way for close to 40 years.

And say what you want about Rex, but he had that team ready to go everytime they played the Patriots.

Woody is a moron; the only guy I know who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.

He saw a shiny toy in Revis that he wanted, he said as much BEFORE free agency started, which is tampering. Revis was away on vacation, yet he had a Jets helmet with him at the hotel for those pictures he posted after he agreed to the contract; nothing fishy there right Brad? If the Patriots pulled a stunt like that, every fan in the NFL would be screaming about tampering, but Roger will let the Jets slide, don't worry.

As far as the way the Patriots run their team; the owner stays out of it, he lets the football people make football decisions. They put a value on each position and don't exceed it, the Revis thing just proves it. If they signed him, they'd have to cut several players; so you have one great player and a bunch of tomato cans.

Nope, not the way they do things; since 2001, 14 division titles, 10 AFCCG's, 6 Super Bowls and 4 wins.

They are the model franchise in the NFL that all other teams want to be; as long as the coach and the QB are there, I'll take my chances.

As far as other teams in the division, we still have the best QB and the best coach; the run has to end sometime, nothing lasts forever, it's been an embarassment of riches.

It ends when it ends; as a fan, I couldn't ask for more from my team.

End of story.

Have to give credit where credit is due; Revis is not only a great CB, he's an even better businessman.

Has he signed a contract yet not loaded with loopholes to let him weasel out of it?

Thanks for the Super Bowl title Revis, you can now go into Canton as a Jet, good for you.

I was driving back from a meeting and Jim Rome made the same point you did: he may not be the best CB in the game but he's probably the best businessman. He also made the point that when this contract is up, he'll probably go sign with another team.

Based on past experience, after the third year of this agreement, he'll probably hold out in order to get another agreement.

As it's a business, I can't blame him for wanting to get the most that he can.

It's not about sports anymore, it's about money; players go where they can make the most, owners do their best to keep as much as possible in their pockets.

Millionaires playing for Billionaires.

And you are right; since the contract is front loaded, in years four and five, he'll "only" be making 11 million per, so he probably will hold out.

Based on what I am reading so far today, he just wanted to go home and play for the team that drafted him.

Nothing wrong with that; naturally, they offered the most money too, which is really the key.

As noted in previous posts, I can't stand Ndamukong Suh.

However I do tip my cap to him and his response to the question of why he signed with the Dolphins:

"Asked about his decision to sign with the Dolphins, Suh said, ""I would say money was the most important factor."

The more I read about this Revis thing, the more it becomes obvious the Patriots had no shot at him. The Jets had 50 million in cap space, the Patriots about 14 million.

So again, if they signed Revis, they'd have to cut several players to make room for Revis and their draft picks.

Not sure how they came so up against the cap, but there it is; you can't sign a guy if you don't have the space.

So adios Revis.

Sorry, but they are truly screwed, they'll be going back to zone coverage.

Not good.

Oh well, such is life.

The signings are coming fast and furious now; Demarco Murray leaves big D and goes to the Iggles.

Word is the Saints are having a firesale, anyone and everyone is up for grabs; and with that, they signed Brandon Browner to a three year deal. Won't be long before they're back to being the "Aints."

The Jets, in a bid to go back to the future and redo 2010, have brought Cromartie back, 4/32.

Not sure if that is 4 years/32 million or 4 women/32 children.

Maybe they should bring Sanchez, Tomlinsin, Holmes and Scott back too.

I think the Saints moves relate to the current ownership issues. Tom Benson's family is trying to wrest control of the team from him citing his age etc.

so disappointed to see Murray leave...
I saw fans already burning his jersey today....
I thought Jerry would have opened up the wallet for him...
hope their offensive line is a good as they think it is...
they have been claiming you could plug in anybody at running back and they could get 1,400 yards...
maybe I should call them and tell them I'm available if they need me...

Love the fans who get so torked off they burn the jerseys; Cadaver fans probably regret burning their Lebron jerseys, much like the Jets fans who burned their Revis jerseys.

I remember that boob Joe Beningno or whatever his name is babbling about how he was going to burn his Revis jersey if he went to New England; he's back the Jets now you coconut head, might want to rethink that one...................

I don't know that that the current Saints moves are connected with the family troubles between the owner and his daughter and grandchildren; otherwise we might see wholesale departures. They have not been a good team the last couple of years and something has to happen.

Incidentally, Tom Benson has sued the trustee of family trusts to remove the Saints and Pelicans from the family trust in exchange for about $550 million in promissory notes so he can assure that wife number 3 gets ownership of the teams. The Trustee had previously blocked his attempt to do so without compensation. Apparently, Benson's daughter and granddaughters approve of the latest move as they will be compensated.

Don't knock Joe B. We love him down here! A great rags to riches story. He was a sports fan like you and me who used to call in, then he won a competition to be a fill in on WFAN and they put him on the graveyard shift. Management liked him so much they kept him (was supposed to be only a temporary gig) and eventually they moved him to the mid-day spot, where they do very well. He and his sidekick Evan Roberts are the only guys who Francesa will let sit in for him.

Maybe they should except for the fact that Holmes, Scott and LT are retired and Sanchez is under contract with the Eagles.

that is so true...it's like the plateau of idiocy...

I just wonder what they are thinking when they do that...

"Here you go...I'll burn my jersey that cost me $100...that will teach you."

Agreed; he's a good guy. They've had him on our local talk radio several times, he's beyond hysterical; his rants Mondays after Jets losses are legendary.

Joe is basically Joe Fan. Just gets it off his chest and as a Mets, Jets and Knicks fan, there is a lot to complain about!
