NFL 2015 Season (1 Viewer)

Jets got a good one yesterday, one of the top players in the draft, Leonard Williams. He's already endeared himself to Jet fans: says he can't wait to sack Tom Brady. He will have to wait awhile though. They don't play each other until the 7th game of the season.

Actually, he said that he hopes his first sack comes vs Brady.

Going into game seven, he'd better have more than 0 sacks.

He's raw but a great pickup. They also picked up a WR. They just don't have anyone who can throw to him.

They just picked up Bryce Pettty. He's the best quarterback in the class after the top two.

Could be good!

There are pros running this franchise now.

How about the NFL finally reaching some conclusions on deflategate? Issuing the report in May after the draft when there is zero interest in the NFL. This must have been more complicated than the Lindbergh kinapping to take that long to solve. Maybe they hired Boss Hogg and Barney Fife after they cleared Winston down in Florida. I bet there are stiff penalties coming like suspending Brady until Sept when the season starts. That will teach him. Throw in a $59 fine to make it really hurt.

Yep, the NFL spend the equivalent of the gross national product of the continent of South America on this garbage.

Looks like Belichick, Kraft and the organization has been cleared and the finger points right at Brady.

You know what; I really don't give a **** anymore, I really don't.

The Patriots laid the wood to the Colts in the second half AFTER the balls were properly inflated and Brady had a lights out 4th quarter vs the greatest defense of all time in the Super Bowl with properly inflated footballs.

They won the Super Bowl and Brady has won four Super Bowls and IMO, he is the GOAT, deflated balls and all (insert snarky comments here).

As a Patriots fan, that's all I care about; fans of other teams are going to go nuts over this and all the "CHEATERS!!!" crap will start again.

Fine, let them whine and complain till their blue in the face.

Haters gonna hate, right there Mike?

I think this would not have been a big deal if Brady had come clean instead of lying. He basically hung the equipment managers out to save himself. No NFL player believed the equipment manager would touch those balls without Brady's knowledge. Everyone knew this the day after the story broke. The investigation was just a farce to avoid disrupting the cash cow Super Bowl. I'm sure Brady will pay off the folks that get fired and be issued some minor fine. And the lesson learned is lie and delay. The NFL is as corrupt as it gets. All about the money.

You and I both know as he gave that press conference prior to the Patriots leaving for the Super Bowl he looked like a deer in headlights, the jig was up. Belichick and Kraft had no knowledge of this, I'm sure of that, which is why there will be no loss of draft picks or fines vs the organization.

I think Brady will be fined and possibly suspended for two, maybe four games, we'll see.

Out in Vegas, the Patriots home opener vs the Steelers has come off the board and Vegas usually knows the behind the scenes stuff regarding sports.

So the NFL is going to suspend Brady for the first game then? Or two?

Awesome, way to go Rog.............

For what it is worth, the guy who handles my friendly wagers has the over/under on games suspended at 1 which is essentially an all or nothing bet.

He refused to share any emails or texts with the investigators, a telling indication.

I see Kraft had a temper tantrum in his statement, but then says we'll accept the verdict.

Of course, now Goodell is in the hot seat and actually has to do something that will tick off one the most important owners in the sport. Goodell is not too good when he actually had to make a decision.

George probably won't like this article but here it is.

It's not my legacy, it's his.

My main concern when deflategate broke was that it would be a distraction to the team and they would lose the super bowl, but they won, so as a fan, all I care about is winning games and championships.

If his legacy takes a hit, that's on him.

I expect fans around the country to harp on this now; let them harp all they want.

I really don't care what other fans think, just like Ravens fans, Dolphins fans, Broncos fans, Steelers fans, Saints fans, Browns fans, Falcons fans and Colts fans don't care what other fans think of Ray and Ray, Bullying, Salary cap manipulation, steroid use in the 70's, bountygate, text messages, piped in crowd noise and tanking a season to get Luck.

cannot believe such an incriminating text trail was left...the content of the text was ****ing...what a bunch of idiots...to discuss this through texts...incredible...I never thought they would be able to prove a thing...not that it didn't happen...but I never thought they could prove it...sending texts...stupid...stupid...stupid...

while New England probably didn't need to do this to win...for some reason...Brady felt he needed the advantage and got caught...how embarrassing for the New England organization...especially the fans...and most especially Mr. Kraft...he seems like such a stand up guy...after demanding an apology from the NFL...as he really trusted Tom and Bill...standing up for his organization...he must be mortified with the findings...

the equipment manager and locker room attendant...they could have refused to do this...but I'm sure Brady would have had the organization dismiss them...and they did all of this for autographed Brady memorabilia...I wonder what that is worth now?

when Brady seemed amused and bewildered at the first press conference questioning his involvement in deflating the balls...I kind of thought maybe he was innocent...but now...refusing to hand over his emails...I guess he had me fooled...

I feel sorry for the New England fans...I don't think anyone would argue that the balls made no difference to the final results...but as a fan...I wouldn't want to live with this over my head...a sad day for football...

I think when it comes to texts, emails or posting stupid stuff on Facebook or Twitter, people simply don't grasp that they can come back to bite them. It's almost a naive attitude but people just don't think about the consequences of a paper or electronic trail.

Brad...the trend seems to be to speak before you think...Greg Hardy (Cowboys) made a stupid comment about the twin towers last week that rubbed people the wrong way...he has since closed his account...the electronic trail is more public than people think...

Brady reminds me a lot of Lance Armstrong. An arrogant, golden boy who has come to believe there are no rules that apply to him. Lie, deny, cheat, cover up, delay, throw others under the bus and lie again. I assume the mandatory PR apology is next up once the minor fines and suspensions are announced. He will have regrets, admit mistakes were made, lessons learned etc. Whatever his PR advisors tell him to say. He basically hung the equipment managers out to dry with his lies. There is zero chance they deflate the balls on their own. They are a couple of nobodies hero-worshipping Brady. They would have jumped off a bridge if that that is what he wanted them to do. The NFL has done everything possible to downplay this including the timing of the report. No reasonable person had any doubt prior to the Super Bowl what had happened. The NFL stuck its head in the sand to avoid disrupting their cash cow. The net result will be that Brady will pay off his stooges and return to his palace none the worse. I do think the impact of the deflated balls has been downplayed because the Pats destroyed the Colts. But who knows how long that has been going on? How many games the Pats gained an advantage in due to that? I bet it didn't start in the Colts game. Someone also ran numbers on the Pats fumbles and it is wildly out of line with the rest of the league. Coincidence? If the NFL had any honor, Brady would be toast. The Pete Rose of the NFL. And a big asterisk would appear next to that Super Bowl win. Never going to happen though in a league that lacks honor and integrity. They will impose a token penalty and suggest it addresses the problem. Then hope this blows over given the short news cycle.

I read this also....the lack of fumbles by New England compared to other NFL teams was staggering...it never dawned on me the implication of low ball pressure to decrease fumbles was plausible...but it seems valid...maybe it has been going on for a while...

I think Brady's image is pretty much destroyed at this point though...this will be the joke of the NFL for months/years to come...I think most NFL fans perceive him as a cheat and a liar now...I agree...he will issue a public apology and life will move on but fans will never forget...the apology will be forthcoming...but I don't think people will care...I'm not sure at this point if the entire organization should be penalized though...Belichick...Mr. Kraft...the other players...they may have been totally unaware of this...this move have been Brady on his own...

I wish he would release his emails...but I doubt he will...I think they would expose his complicity and I don't think his ego could handle it...if that happens...I think he will wash out like Tiger Woods did after his affair became public...I think his lose of public appeal would destroy him...

You have greater faith in the public than I do. I've seen it time and again in college football where players lie, cheat, rape, assault and get away with it. Johnny Halftime and Winston being the most recent examples. The fans defend them tooth and nail. The only thing that matters to them is whether the player helps the team to win. Brady is a golden boy. Maybe the greatest NFL QB in history. Handsome and articulate. People want to like him. Pat fans will rally around him because he is their hero. He will say all the right things once someone tells him what that is. The NFL has a vested interest in minimizing this story. Time will pass and memories fade. Brady will be potrayed as the victim of a smear. The takeaway will be that any advantage gained was meaningless because the Pats stomped the Colts. So any cheating didn't matter. Making a mountain out of a molehill. Others are just jealous of the Pats success etc. The sports culture in this society has made people lose perspective on morality. Winning is all that matters. People bought Ray Lewis' jersey hand over fist even though most wouldn't have bothered to spit on him if he was on fire had he not played football.

The above judgments are based on a standard of more probable than not but they read as if the evidence clearly found him guilty of the offenses, when it does not.

More probable than not is a very weak evidentiary standard. Basically, that means that if by the margin of 50.1 to 49.9 a trier of fact determines that an event took place, it is considered more probable than not that it took place. On that basis, it holds little water for me, which is why the Patriots, understandably, are incensed.

Now, if you told me that Brady did such and such by a preponderance of the evidence, that would provide me with greater assurance that the event did indeed take place.

I don't understand texting that well...I'm not a high tech guy...in fact...I don't text...

but even if Brady won't allow the NFL investigators to look at his texts on his personal phone...
which is basically letting someone look through your personal life...
which I personally wouldn't do...

and the ball handlers have already given up their phones to investigators for review...

can't the investigators see the responses TB allegedly had with the ball handlers on the ball handler's phone...

I mean...wouldn't there be responses from TB to them in their inbox from him?

there is no mention of them to the media...

they have referred to at least of 2 others texts where TB asked "if they were good"...

a friend told me that it is possible to permanently remove incriminating texts from your phone in 3 ways...
leaving no trace or trail...

they are written over with new data as the file is full...
the phone settings are reset to default...
or there is a software app that you can install to permanently delete them...

as the ball handlers obviously did none of these to destroy evidence...
how come we don't see any TB messages in their inbox that are incriminating?

if I were the ball handlers...
and TB actually told me to do this...
and I was stupid enough to document it through texting on my phone...
why would I delete TB's messages...
but leave a conversation on there with someone else about doing this?
