NFL 2015 Season (2 Viewers)

He refused to share any emails or texts with the investigators, a telling indication.

I see Kraft had a temper tantrum in his statement, but then says we'll accept the verdict.

Of course, now Goodell is in the hot seat and actually has to do something that will tick off one the most important owners in the sport. Goodell is not too good when he actually had to make a decision.

Actually, Goodell, who is friends with Kraft, has no punishment powers. It is passed on to another FB executive for discipline matters. Kraft and Jones talked Goodell into giving up these duties, in order to avoid conflict of issue moments, such as these. My guess is 3 games suspension, mostly because of Brady's lying. Nothing to the organisation..Michael

Been away from the forum for a few days, been sort of busy with the Valley Forge Show.

Very, very entertaining read this thread is.

Don't ever change fellas.

Haters gonna hate; keep looking for reasons why the Patriots have dominated the NFL the past 15 years, spygate, deflategate, tackle eligible/RB ineligible plays, on and on it goes, keep looking, they'll keep winning.

This is really awesome.

LMFAO.

Look, Im sorry to say this is much ado about nearly nothing.

Is outright cheating disgusting and should it be severely punished? Yes. If there is no integrity, there is no game.

This is somewhere in the middle. When big money is at stake people will push the envelope. To think or pretend otherwise is foolishly naive.

Of course now that this "trick" has been revealed, I presume it will be officially made against league rules. Henceforth, any instances of the same behavior should be, as I said earlier, punished severely. So a non issue going forward.

But of course something else will come up in the future. And whatever it is wont end the world, or cure cancer, or solve or worsen the other of thousands of more serious problems that plague humanity. If whether a football that is used by overpaid kids, playing a game, was purposely inflated, gets you really riled, I think you probably need to take a break from the boob tube and the sports talk radio. There is a guy at work who watches a ton of sports and knows a lot about them but good grief, he can hardly walk around the block. If the energy spent on this went toward some of the other of thousands of more pressing issues, that would be a very positive development.

And as I have said before, whether "your" team wins or loses doesnt mean jack diddly squat in the scheme of things. Anybody can be a fan. It doesnt take skill, knowledge, talent, discipline or anything other than declaring it. I hardly see where that gives someone bragging rights. The only people with bragging rights are the folks directly involved in the product on the field. Everyone else is just a customer.

Tom Brady could be on the sideline to start the 2015 season.
Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported Friday that the New England Patriots quarterback will indeed be suspended by Roger Goodell for his role in the Deflategate scandal. Goodell’s decision is expected to come next week.

“In conversations I’ve had with several key sources who always have a good sense of what goes on at 345 Park Avenue, there is little doubt Goodell considers Brady’s role in Deflategate a serious violation,” Myers writes.

According to Myers, the Wells report that was released Wednesday provided the commissioner with enough reason to lay the hammer down on Brady. Myers wrote “the feeling” is that Brady’s refusal to give up any emails or text messages related to the investigation and finding “it was more probable than not” that he was aware of any wrongdoing led the commissioner to hit the star with a suspension.
“The NFL is convinced, according to sources, that connecting all the dots of the evidence supplied by Wells leads to one conclusion: Brady cheated,” Myers added.

It’s unknown how many games Brady will be suspended for. There have been rumors of a year-long suspension, while a CSNNE.com report, citing sources, said the Patriots are “fearful” of a 6-8 game suspension.

The NFL may ultimately suspend New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for his involvement in the Deflategate scandal, but the league does not want people to think a decision has already been made.

On Friday, a report from Gary Myers of the NY Daily News said Brady is going to be suspended and an announcement could come next week. Myers cited unnamed sources who have "a good sense of what goes on" at the NFL’s headquarters.

But on Saturday, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello insisted the league has not yet made a decision and addressed Myers’ report directly.
“It is Gary Myers’ prediction,” Aiello wrote in an email to Boston.com. “The headline is misleading.”

The headline could be “misleading” in the sense that it makes it sound like the NFL has already made a ruling, but Aiello’s response doesn’t mean Brady won’t be suspended.

Almost everything that has been reported since the Ted Wells report was released indicates that Brady is going to miss some time. Even a media outlet based in the Boston area claims the Patriots organization is bracing itself for a “lengthy” suspension for its star quarterback.
While many have argued that the Wells report uncovered no hard evidence, it concluded that it is “more probable than not” that the Patriots illegally deflated footballs and Brady was aware of what was going on. That is the standard of proof the league uses in cases like this, so the report basically slaps the guilty tag on Brady and the Pats.

We know at least one NFL quarterback who believes Brady should be left alone, but a suspension almost seems inevitable at this point.

As I previously indicated "more probable than not" is a weak evidentiary standard. If he gets suspended on that standard, to the extent he has other available remedies, he should fight it.

The battle lines have clearly been drawn. Brady will lose. He's white and speaks English.
Also good looking and rich. Has a good looking wife, who's also rich. Doesn't beat his
wife or get caught DUI. His star power draw trumps coach and owners. The first family of
football.

If I was him I'd retire to one of his multi-million dollar estates and continue to make wise
investments, and enjoy his family.

His wife runs that family.......He only has hair, because she made him. Michael

A six to eight game suspension?

So the Patriots will be toast next year then and Brady will be one year closer to retirement.

Goodell will be run out of office on a rail, Kraft will have his head on a platter and the union will go postal over it.

Go for it Roger; if you have any balls at all, do it, knowing full well you'll lose you cushy 40 million dollar a year gig.

As a Patriots fan, I dare you to do it.

You'll be signing your own pink slip.

The NFL really is a clownshow; they inflate the footballs and then hand them over to the home team and now they want to set an example?

Go ahead and try it Roger.

it sounds like you're saying New England can do anything they want to do cause they are untouchable...

Kraft pushed to get Goodell that job Mike; he can also push to get him out of office.

He's arguably the most powerful owner in the league, he was instrumental in getting the last labor deal done.

If Goodell suspends Brady for 8 games Mike, do you honestly think the players union will just say "Oh, ok Rog, you have no smoking gun, no 100% proof, just 51% proof, we'll allow you to suspend one of the most popular players in the league for 8 games, no problem and totally torpedo the 2015 season for the Patriots."

Integrity of the game; where's the integrity there?

I've seen some of the people ranting and raving over this; all of them are biased Patriots haters, they have zero credibility. That boob Woody Page out in Denver, the Broncos honk that he is, wants Brady suspended for a year. This from a guy who's "team" worked the salary cap to perfection in the late 1990's, allowing them to go to two Super Bowls, the same team that perfected cut blocking which ended several players careers, a technique that is now outlawed.

Yeah, he's a credible guy..................:rolleyes2:

Seriously Mike?

Brady and Manning were the two QB's who pushed for the teams to get ahold of the footballs prior to the game and scuff them up; do you think Manning never had any of the ball boys mess with the football
PSI?

Did you see the video of the Panthers holding footballs up against the heaters on the sideline? Has Cam Newton been suspended yet?

Did you see the comments from Aaron Rodgers that he has his ballboys inflate the balls as he likes the ball harder?

When is he getting suspended?

This is a clownshow, plain and simple.

Spin it anyway you want to make it out to be the crime of the century.

It's not, sorry to tell you that, it's a nothing thing.

The hung 5 touchdowns on the Colts AFTER the balls were reinflated.

Also, Brady torched the best secondary in the NFL in the Super Bowl with properly inflated footballs.

The only national people I see pissing and moaning over this are Patriots haters, same deal with the fans. Impartial, level headed people view this as a nothing thing; it's the haters who are making this into the second coming of the Brinx job.

Sell this nonsense somewhere else, I'm not buying it.

I think George is generally correct.

First, the evidence is flimsy.

Second, Goodell is not starting from a strong position and Kraft has expressed his displeasure with him. Anything but a couple of games will eventually lead to his dismissal.

Third, I don't think the Union will let any suspension of any significance go unchallenged.

Brad

I still can't believe this is such a huge story. If it's anyone but the uber-successful Pats, this story gets buried on the last page, next to the classifieds. With all the important stuff the NFL has to deal with, like the concussion and health problems, or the misbehaving athletes constantly in the spotlight, this crap story is what makes the headlines? Please. The NFL is seriously considering suspending the most successful Qb and one of the most popular players in the game over under-inflated footballs, with little or no hard evidence? This is a disgrace and a public relations disaster for the NFL, a real no-win situation that needs to go away. -- Al

George...

Ooooh…I see your logic…so the great and all powerful Oz is due preferential treatment because he helped put the man in office…and now he expects Goodell to go easy on him…is that what you’re saying…that’s foul if that is what you expect…now you’re asking for Goodell to compromise his and the game’s integrity to give Oz a free pass…or else Kraft is gonna have him fired…

That’s the mentality of the whole NE fan base…we are above the law…

The Player’s Union…your other ally in defending Brady for no punishment……that’s their job…they defend every rapist…wife beater…murderer…drug abuser…I would guess…if there is a suspension…the best they could do is get it reduced…

You know…NE is really lucky they had a stellar day against the Colts…very lucky it was a blowout…cause if this had been discovered during the Baltimore game…where they squeaked out a 4 point win…

The biggest argument that NE fans have….that NE would have won anyway…would be thrown out the door…they were very lucky they routed the Colts…

I’m not a NE hater…I have told you time and time again through emails…posts on the forum and phone calls…they were one of my favorite teams…

Their public opinion has floundered…if you’re not from the land of clam chowder and baked beans…then you just can’t get on this wagon with you guys…

It wasn’t that long ago that you told me if they cheated…you would throw all your NE memorabilia out the door…

Now you’re saying you can pry this Tom Brady jersey off my cold dead body…

NE fans will never see it the way the public does…you guys are way too skewed…and all of this doesn’t bother you at all does it…

Jim McNally…aka…”The Deflator”…do you really think he got that moniker from fixing just one game…

I think this has been going on forever…NE is lucky this didn’t come public in the Baltimore game…

You believe what you want to believe…as long as you live in the NE area…you will have a lot of support…
