NFL 2015 Season (1 Viewer)

Here is the language:

The report found that "it is more probable than not" that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was "at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities" of locker room attendant Jim McNally and equipment assistant John Jastremski.

The report indicated that "based on the evidence, it also is our view that it is more probable than not that Tom Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities ... involving the release of air from Patriots game balls."

A house of cards.

I'm obviously no lover of the Patriots as they regularly beat up on the Jets but I think this has been overblown somewhat. It's not like this is the first time this has happened in the league or in sports overall; Gaylord Perry made a living by hitters thinking he was throwing the splitter.

And if you say I'm just saying this because George is my friend, you're darn right :wink2:

Yes and if Gaylord Perry was caught messing with the ball he was suspended a few games. Michael Pineda was caught last year against the Red Sox and he was suspended. This is the same thing. Brady was caught messing with the balls so he should get probably a 2 game suspension and then come back and play. It's pretty simple. I don't know why the NFL is taking so long to come out with a punishment.

big strong cards that are easy to see...

I wish I cared. If you are a St Louis Rams fan, or should I say was, the NFL would be meaningfull. But here in St Louis , meaning me, I have just about lost interest in the NFL. Why? The Rams have been absolutely horrible for over 10 years. The incident last year where those five Ram thugs, I mean players, came out with their "hands up don,t shoot"
and the fact that there is a 99.9% chance that they are moving to LA for the 2016 season. Oh and on a strickley personal reason, my granddaughter got cut as a Rams Cheerleader!
Gary

I say suspend him after game 1 (I need Brady in the opener!!):)...Sammy

The only reason the Patriots were on a short leash was because the Ravens tipped off the league. They suspected the Pats did the same in their game, which was not a blowout. Thus the Colts were looking out for same. It seems reasonable to assume that Brady got away with it ,all through this seasons' playoffs. If by deflating a football, an aging quarterback gets a better grip than his opponent, then that is cheating by any definition. My hope is that there will be revenge roughing the passer calls on Brady next season, till he cannot get up. That would be football justice..Michael

Yes, I did and it's a house of cards built on a shaky foundation. Of course, I wouldn't expect anyone but a lawyer to appreciate the finer points.

I take that to be a lawyer's evasive response that means you haven't actually read the report. And of course, I wouldn't expect a lawyer to say anything else when trying to put a positive spin on a guilty client. No one needs a lawyer to interpret the "finer points" for us. The report is clear on what happened. Can you cite us to a single NFL player or media outlet that believes Brady had nothing to do with this? Even his own coach knew better.

Isn't Larry Allen a Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive lineman?

Yes he is, he and I are buds............:wink2:

I was a fan of those Dallas teams; Aikman, Smith, Sanders, Irvin, that outstanding offensive line, coach Johnson and coach Switzer, they had several great, great teams, Jerrah ruined that by butting heads with Johnson, they've never recovered.

When Kraft was dumb enough to butt heads with Parcells, at least he learned his lesson when he brought Belichick in and he's let him do his thing and has left him alone, the results speak for themselves.

Right; the Ravens tipped off the league, so the league should have then contacted New England and told them to knock it off. Or, better yet since other teams have done it, at that point, send out a league wide letter.

Just like they did before spygate.

And if New England got caught, then fine, punish them just like they did with spygate.

This was a sting operation set up by the league to nail them.

Just suspend Brady and get it over with; four games appealed down to two, they'll start out 0-2 and go from there.

If they miss the playoffs as a result and teams like the Ravens and Jets miss the playoffs because the Steelers and Bills won two games they probably wouldn't have won had Brady played, I'm sure their fans will understand.

Their teams will miss the playoffs, but it's all about the integrity of the game afterall............:rolleyes2:

Oh and one other thing; since 2006 when the teams were allowed to doctor the balls prior to games, in 65 home games, Brady has thrown 131 TD passes, in 64 road games, he's thrown 138.

Can any of you Wyle E Coyote geniuses who want to see Brady shot in front a firing squad for this heinous offense care to explain those stats away to me?

Ya'll do know that they do not bring their own ballboys on the road, right; the home team supplies them. You fellas know that, right? I hope you do.

And as far as the fumble rate; same thing, I forget the stat, but they fumbled more over that time period at home than on the road.

And as someone else had mentioned; QBs are quirky creatures of habit, much like MLB pitchers who want the mound and the ball a certain way; if Brady DEMANDED balls with lower PSI in them, how could he possibly perform under opposite conditions on the road?

Wouldn't his stats be off the charts in the opposite direction on the road?

Again; I'll wait for any of you geniuses to put your pitchforks and torches down and take a break from storming the castle and explain the stats, the stats don't lie, you can't fudge the stats...........................

I have read the report and the standard of proof is skimpy. To say it is more probable than not that an event took place means a 50.1 to 49.9 probability that it did. That is not convincing evidence on which to impose a sanction. In reading commentary about the report, I've seen numerous attorneys point this out, not just me; I think this is something that evades the public at large.

Oh and I almost forgot; I saw your team signed Collins, the kid nobody would touch on draft day with a ten foot pole because they were concerned about his involvement with his ex girlfriends murder.

The Cowboys signed him, so fans say "Wow, Dallas is going for it this year"; had the Patriots signed that kid, fans would say "Same old CHEATRIOTS, always looking for a way to get over on the rest of the teams."

Nah, no bias when it comes to New England now is there.

George...don't know how current you are on this...

The former LSU offensive lineman went from a sure-fire first-round pick to a undrafted free agent after news broke last week that Baton Rouge police wanted him for questioning following the shooting death of his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend, Brittney Mills, who was pregnant at the time.

Collins was not the father of Mills' newborn that died last week, after surviving the April 24 shooting. The case has been ruled a double homicide.

"We got the test results back today," Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Don Coppola told NOLA.com on Wednesday, "and La'el Collins is not the father of the baby."

Collins also passed a polygraph test in connection with the murder.

*******************Baton Rouge police do not consider Collins a suspect or person of interest in the case.************************

As the results of Collins' paternity test and polygraph test were leaked late Wednesday night, The Advocate reported that the Dallas Cowboys have a meeting scheduled with the 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive tackle

*******************and that almost every NFL franchise has reached out to him.******************************************

I'm not sure why you draw the line at the minimum probability of 50.1%. It is more likely than not that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning. The probability of more likely than not is not capped at 50.1% but can range to 99.9999%. You are putting too much stock in legalese instead of the basic facts in the report. I understand some lawyers are paid to suggest there is doubt when none really exists. That's the nature of the profession. No NFL player, however, that I've seen discuss this issue has said anything other than the equipment guys would not have dared altered those balls without Brady's consent. That's the conclusion the report reaches while citing the scientific evidence and text messages. Even most Pats fans are not arguing that Brady did not lie about this. They are arguing it is no big deal and blown out of proportion due to the success of the Pats. Brady himself is the only person who appears to suggest he is innocent. The only real question now is the severity of the punishment to be imposed.

Brad...

let's make you skip a post without all the non commital legal mumbo jumbo rhetoric...

no mention of.
"evidentiary standards"
and no mention of
"more probable than not"...

lets put you on the spot...

give me a yes or no concrete answer...

just a yes or no opinion...

take a stance...

in your opinion...

just one question...

was Brady in collusion with the ball handlers prior to the game or not?

just a simple yes or no answer...

don't skirt the question...

just a yes or no answer...

if you can't answer with a simple yes or no...

just ignore the post...

No, I'm pretty familiar with it; because it "looked bad" and he "might have been involved sort of maybe, possibly, we're not sure", the kid, who was a sure fire first round pick, did not get drafted.

He got royally, royally screwed, the rush to judgement cost the kid untold millions.

He's stuck now with a three year free agent minimum contract; I hope the kid plays his *** off, gets a new deal in three years and is a multi, multi millionare.

He got screwed because people THOUGHT HE MIGHT be involved with no clear proof; I hope you see where I am going with this.................

The league, per usual screwed the pooch on this.

They should have suspended Brady BEFORE releasing the findings in the report.

Now that they did the opposite, fans want the guy shot at dawn, suspended for life, banned from the league, on and on it goes.

It's one thing for yahoo fans to say it, but when reporters and talking heads on TV say it, all it does is feed into the mob mentality we want justice.

Whatever Goodell decides, it won't be enough.

And whatever he rules, it will be appealed by the NFLPA lawyers and a neutral arbitrator, not a Jets, Dolphins, Ravens, Steelers or Broncos fan will decide the final punishment.

If Goodell gives him four and the arbitrator tosses it out due to flimsy evidence, the NFL world will implode.

I personally think due to the mob vengeance mentality that has ensued, Goodell will give him an 8 game suspension and it will be overturned and he'll get four.

I think it would be ballsy of the Patriots to show up for those four games, not take the field and have the entire team and coaching staff stand on the sideline with their backs to the field, a giant EFF YOU to the league.

As a fan, I'd love to see it and I'd support it 1000%.

Mike,
I really and truly mean it, I hope this kid goes on to a yearly all pro career and ends up as the greatest lineman to ever wear a cowboys uniform.

Man did he get screwed, all due to people assuming he was involved in this when he was not..................time will tell.................

Local drive time talk radio today had a lawyer on; Brad, you'll love this.

He said the league was tipped off by the Colts that the Patriots use inderinflated footballs.

He also said if the league knew this and allowed underinflated footballs into the AFCCG, IN THEIR EYES, this was no big deal. The balls were tested at halftime and found to be underinflated.

When the league went to the Patriots with this, he feels they should have owned up to it and it would have been put to bed; the only reason Wells was brought in and this thing became the crime of the century was because the Patriots denied tampering, so it forced the leagues hand. Like Combat said, it's now become not the crime, but the lying and the cover up that has the league and other fans all worked up.

He concluded with all of that said; if Brady gets a 6 or 8 game suspension for this, he'll be stunned and feels like two games is more than enough, appealed down to one. A 6 or 8 game suspension will be due to public pressure to do it.

Which goes back to my point; Goodell is a moron for allowing the findings in the report to come out BEFORE he handed down punishment.

Which goes back to my other point; he's not long for this job, not because he crossed his binky Kraft, but because he is a piss poor commissioner............................

The ruling is in; Brady suspended four games, Patriots lose a first round pick and a fourth round pick and the team is fined 1 million dollars.

So even though the Wells report found the organization not responsible, they still got whacked.

Hope everyone is happy; as a fan, the 2015 season just got flushed down the toilet.

Wonderful.

should have just fessed up and admitted it with an apology...

most people would have been happy with the truth...
