NFL 2015 Season (2 Viewers)

I still can't believe this is such a huge story. If it's anyone but the uber-successful Pats, this story gets buried on the last page, next to the classifieds. With all the important stuff the NFL has to deal with, like the concussion and health problems, or the misbehaving athletes constantly in the spotlight, this crap story is what makes the headlines? Please. The NFL is seriously considering suspending the most successful Qb and one of the most popular players in the game over under-inflated footballs, with little or no hard evidence? This is a disgrace and a public relations disaster for the NFL, a real no-win situation that needs to go away. -- Al

Al...I know you and George are good friends...I know you are in close contact with him as you go to a few shows and work for him...and I appreciate your loyalty to him...that's admirable...

but the reason this is such a huge story is that Brady stood up and told the world like Sgt. Klink..."I know nothing"...he lied...he just lied to all of us and expects us to believe him...

if he had just done like Pettitte and fessed up...he would have been forgiven and it wouldn't be such a big story...but his ego won't allow that...

so I think he deserves everything he gets...you can't make a fool out of everyone and get away with it...

Michael, I don't really have a dog in this fight as regards NE as I actually don't care for them as a main rival of the Ravens. My complaint is about the whole fracas in general and the way it has been portrayed in the media and by the NFL. And you are mistaken about my relationship with George. I do consider him a friend and a personal dealer of integrity and great knowledge in regards to the hobby but I have never personally met him, much less ever worked for him. The last TS show I went to might be close to 20 years ago at this point. Just to set the record straight.:wink2: -- Al

I want this post on a bumper sticker.

I figured it was just a question of time before the voice of reason around here weighed in on this.

Sorry Mike, you're wrong on this one; better check your sources.

Well, partially wrong anyway as I do consider Al a friend; if he thought this was such a big deal, I'd respect him if he told me I'm wrong.................................no blind loyalty here, so your wrong.

And thanks for making my point; it's not the nature of the crime, it's the perceived cover up that has you and the rest of the fans in the NFL lighting their torches, grabbing their pitchforks and getting ready to storm the castle.

Speaking of which; have you sold yours yet....................................

George...

Ooooh…I see your logic…so the great and all powerful Oz is due preferential treatment because he helped put the man in office…and now he expects Goodell to go easy on him…is that what you’re saying…that’s foul if that is what you expect…now you’re asking for Goodell to compromise his and the game’s integrity to give Oz a free pass…or else Kraft is gonna have him fired…

That’s the mentality of the whole NE fan base…we are above the law…

The Player’s Union…your other ally in defending Brady for no punishment……that’s their job…they defend every rapist…wife beater…murderer…drug abuser…I would guess…if there is a suspension…the best they could do is get it reduced…

You know…NE is really lucky they had a stellar day against the Colts…very lucky it was a blowout…cause if this had been discovered during the Baltimore game…where they squeaked out a 4 point win…

The biggest argument that NE fans have….that NE would have won anyway…would be thrown out the door…they were very lucky they routed the Colts…

I’m not a NE hater…I have told you time and time again through emails…posts on the forum and phone calls…they were one of my favorite teams…

Their public opinion has floundered…if you’re not from the land of clam chowder and baked beans…then you just can’t get on this wagon with you guys…

It wasn’t that long ago that you told me if they cheated…you would throw all your NE memorabilia out the door…

Now you’re saying you can pry this Tom Brady jersey off my cold dead body…

NE fans will never see it the way the public does…you guys are way too skewed…and all of this doesn’t bother you at all does it…

Jim McNally…aka…”The Deflator”…do you really think he got that moniker from fixing just one game…

I think this has been going on forever…NE is lucky this didn’t come public in the Baltimore game…

You believe what you want to believe…as long as you live in the NE area…you will have a lot of support…

So that's the mansion this guy lives in with all the **** tons of money he's made off of this, selling all that Brady signed memorabilia?

You'd think he's be living high on the hog; what's that on his porch, a can of roach spray?

More solid reporting there, looks like a true "GOTCHA" moment.

Mike,
I think I know the answer to this question already, but I still have to ask; what bothers you more, the actual "crime" or the perceived cover up by Brady of the crime?

The investigation has already come out and cleared Kraft and Belichick of any wrongdoing, they are putting this all on Brady.

So is it the heinous crime he perpetrated or is it his denial of the crime that bothers you?

Had he come clean prior to the Super Bowl and said "Ok, I'll admit it, I told the ballboys to let air out of the balls."

What then; would they have to vacate the AFC Championship and let the Colts go to the Super Bowl? Oh wait; how about a do over, replay the game and see what happens.

Better yet, replay the Ravens game because afterall, like you said, they only won by four.

Although I don't know there Mike; Edelman threw a pass to Amendola on a trick play; maybe if the ball was properly inflated, he overthrows that pass, right?

Oh wait; now I've got it.

Suspend Brady for the Super Bowl and the make the Patriots play with only 10 guys on offense.

Tell you what there Mike; you play commissioner since your so caught up in this story; if Brady came clean prior to the Super Bowl, what would you have done?

I'm all ears.

I'll indulge you...here's my answer...

I don't think you can take the win away from them...that would turn the NFL playoffs completely upside down...that's not practical...but I would give them a financial or draft penalty for 2015...

now...you asked what offended me the most...I'm offended by both...mostly that Brady lied...but also that he knowingly cheated...

if I were commissioner...and Brady told the truth before the Superbowl...I definitely would have suspended him for the Superbowl...and probably not for next season...but Brady's ego wouldn't allow that...

I think you're being a little contrite suggesting a 10 man offense...but I know you like to make those type of comments...but NE does have a back-up quarterback...

so back to you...and I think I know the answer already too...but do me the favor and indulge me...

you play Commissioner now...if Brady had said he knowingly cheated after the playoff game...what would you have done?

I would love to hear a NE fans idea of a penalty...

If Brady came clean and admitted he told the ballboys to let air out of the footballs as he prefers them that way; sorry, you cannot suspend him for the Super Bowl.

That would be a farce; so in the biggest game of the season they go with a rookie back up QB.

That would be moronic.

As the commissioner, I would do what he did; launch an investigation and see what they come up with; how deep does this go, how long has it been going on, get all of my ducks in a row.

Once the investigation is complete and the evidence is there in black and white, I'd decide on a punishment that would go into effect in the following season.

To suspend him knee jerk like that prior to the Super Bowl would turn the game into a complete and utter farce.

Tell you what; I'm looking forward now to Goodell suspending Brady and the NFLPA Lawyers ripping this Wells report to shreds, because the evidence is NOT there in black and white, it's nothing but grey.

I'd say it if it was Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Flacco or whoever it was.

This is going to be great; will give the NFL world something to talk about all off season long.

Can't wait.

wow...really...well...it wasn't Manning...or Rodgers...or Flacco...

it was your guy...Brady...

so that's easy for a NE fan to say...

but I get the feeling if Flacco was caught doing this in their game...you would be dredging it up for years to come on here...

okay..so even if he admitted he cheated to win that game...
you would allow him play the Super Bowl...
then you would take a suspension...

while public support dwindles for Brady and New England...mine included...

New England fans seem to feel Brady is above the law...

allowing Brady to play...
after he admitted cheating...

would you...
the most ardent NE fan I know...
would you even put the ominous asterisk in the records on the win???

You asked me a question, I gave you an answer.

Go ahead and put an asterisk next to all four super bowl wins for all I care.

And to be brutally frank with you Mike; I really don't care what the rest of the fans around the league think of my team.

Like Al said; if this was ANY other team, people would give a **** less, like the Saints and bountygate, the Falcons piping in crowd noise, the Browns with their texting, the Dolphins and bullying and the Ravens and Ray Rice.

It's the Patriots, so let's all get whipped up into a BS media driven frenzy over a minor, nothing thing.

If you think low PSI gave the Patriots this huge advantage all these years, you aren't as knowledgeable as I thought you were about the NFL.

Remember way back in the 1970's (when the Cowboys used to be good) and they were referred to as America's team; most fans around the league hated them.

Why; because they won and their teams did not.

Well, they beat tomato cans like the Broncos and the pre dynasty Dolphins but got curb stomped when they played a real team like the Steelers (Jackie Smith says hello).

The Patriots have become the Cowboys of the 1970's and you know what there Mike; it's great to be king.

As far as the Patriots; go ahead and hate us because you ain't us.

We'll talk again Mike when our teams meet up in Dallas this year; maybe I'll make a trip down to death star six, that monstrosity Jerrah built as a monument to himself and take in the game.

Oh and I almost forgot; I saw your team signed Collins, the kid nobody would touch on draft day with a ten foot pole because they were concerned about his involvement with his ex girlfriends murder.

The Cowboys signed him, so fans say "Wow, Dallas is going for it this year"; had the Patriots signed that kid, fans would say "Same old CHEATRIOTS, always looking for a way to get over on the rest of the teams."

Nah, no bias when it comes to New England now is there.

I'm obviously no lover of the Patriots as they regularly beat up on the Jets but I think this has been overblown somewhat. It's not like this is the first time this has happened in the league or in sports overall; Gaylord Perry made a living by hitters thinking he was throwing the splitter.

And if you say I'm just saying this because George is my friend, you're darn right :wink2:

My beef isn't so much with deflating the balls. It's the outrageous arrogance and lying being done by Brady. If he had simply admitted this, he gets a fine and everybody moves on. He reminds me a lot of Lance Armstrong, however. Still denying even though the entire world knows he is lying. It's creepy. I can't see how anyone believes the evidence is flimsy. The report concludes the equipment guys deflated the balls in a bathroom. And refers to them as the deflators. I'm not sure what more evidence there can be. Brady is surrounded by sycophants telling him he is too great to be subject to the same rules as mere mortals. It's not his fault but the haters jealous of his greatness! He's the victim. LOL I do agree the union will have any penalty reduced since anything less than mass murder in the NFL is not subject to meaningful punishment. Brady is just a liar and cheat. The one eyed man in the land of the morally blind.

Again, for the the third or fourth time, the evidentiary standard is weak; more probable than not is not a strong standard on which to make the judgment that he is a liar or cheat. If you think this doesn't matter, well it does because on the basis of a very weak standard, Roger Goodell will be imposing punishment.

Have you read the report? The basic fact are that the equipment guys intentionally deflated the balls. They know who did it and how. The only out for Brady is if you believe these lackeys did this on their own without his knowledge. The chances of that are about zero. Brady even lied about knowing the names of these guys. They have texts to them from Brady that are incriminating as well. The guy is not too bright. It's a rock solid case.

not only did he lie about knowing them...

he omitted that he even talked to them...

he had 6 phone calls to one of them spanning over 1 hour...

"are you good?"

then he says he doesn't even know them...

now he won't disclose his phone records...

Yes, I did and it's a house of cards built on a shaky foundation. Of course, I wouldn't expect anyone but a lawyer to appreciate the finer points.
