NFL 2015 Season (2 Viewers)

You should do some research on the owner of the Panthers before spouting more anti southern class nonsense. He was a stud football player at tiny Wofford and played in the NFL himself. He parlayed his NFL money into the Hardee's franchise, building it from almost nothing. He later became CEO of a large food service company. Essentially though he built his wealth from scratch.

He was instrumental in locking out the Players in the 2011 lockout, which admittedly is one reason I admire him. Bust them Unions! Lol

He refused to sign Greg Hardy due to domestic violence charges, saying " we do the right thing".

Who are South Carolina fans going to cheer for? The $&#^%} Falcons?? I live in Atlanta and I struggle with that. Get real. Most of the South is focused on college football regardless. See Clemson vs Alabama in the championship game, for why. The South absolutely and utterly dominates college football.
Didn't root for the Panthers but I have a soft spot for owner Jerry Richardson, who's brief 2-year NFL career was spent with the Baltimore Colts and included catching a Unitas TD pass in the 1959 NFL championship game.
And the SEC rules. Roll Tide! -- Al

I agree with the previous two comments (other than the busting unions comments).

I think the Boss Hogg comment betrays a little sectionalism. As far as praying (if that's what he was doing), I'm not sure I see anything wrong with that.

As far as playing the game in LA, where? the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum? I could see the Rose Bowl as they've played before but this is always about the money. You'll see the game in LA when they build that new stadium for the Rams.

It seems that the SB has become just an excuse for one big commercial or this or that interest. The game has become incidental to selling.

Brad,
It would have been nice to have the game back at it's original site, the coliseum.

As far as the pre game introductions of the previous 49 Super Bowl MVP's; booing Brady was about as classless as it gets, same for Deion Branch and I think Rodgers of all people had a smattering of boos too.

REGARDLESS of whether Brady is a Patriot or not; the event was a celebration of the previous 49 Super Bowls and it's MVP's, the most iconic sporting event in this country and to boo anyone is moronic and classless, a true mouth breather move. It's at a neutral site celebrating the game; lose your laundry crap and have some class.

A friend of mine was at the game with his wife she's a huge Carolina fan and he took her to the game; he said the majority of the fans booing were Denver fans as they outnumbered Carolina fans 3 to 1, he said it was almost like a home game for Denver, loads of Denver fans there.

It's at an event celebrating a sport that is important to you, which is why you're at the game; it's a celebration of American sports history and to boo there is idiotic.

I hate Peyton Manning with the fire of 10,000 suns, but I respect him and what he's done in his career; if the shoe was on the other foot and I was at the game, I wouldn't boo him, I'd give him a polite golf clap.......................some people are just clueless.

Interesting fact involving Manning's win in the SB. He went into the game with 199 career wins (regular and post-season), tied with Favre for most in NFL history. The SB win gives Manning 200 wins and the all-time record. It's a record with an extremely short life-span as in should be passed by mid-season in 2016. It will be passed by Tom Brady, who currently has 194 career wins. Manning has a lifetime record of 200-92, while Brady is currently 194-60. It is obvious that Brady will soon own the record for most career wins and highest winning percentage before he is done. Just for the record, Favre was 199-123, lifetime. -- Al

George,

The Coliseum is old and not up to NFL standards. In fact, USC plans to spend around $270 million to upgrade it.

Fans are going to boo, that's just the name of the game. I wouldn't boo either but then I never boo. I liked the ceremony and thought it was pretty nice to bring back all MVPs.

As an aside I've heard some Denver fans saying that Manning should go into the HOF as a Bronco. How dumb is that :rolleyes2:

Brad

I was completely wrong, Denver's defense held the Panthers to 10 points and even scored a touchdown. Peyton Manning was more Trent Dilfer than Joe Montana but the record books do not discern winners based on style points. Cam Newton showed his true identity during the post-game press conference, or as Yahoo Sports put it, Superman turned in the Incredible Sulk.

Congrats to all of the Bronco fans.

That's too bad, didn't know the old girl was that banged up.

If I'm not mistaken, the last Super Bowl played there was the 1984 Super Bowl when the Raiders demolished the Redskins 38-7; that game featured two of the games most iconic moments, the boneheaded PIC 6 Theisman floated out there to the immortal Jack Squirek and that reverse field Marcus Allen thing of beauty that he took all the way to the house.

Fans at a neutral site should not be booing anyone, show some class.

The Taxman cometh. Looks like it behooves Manning to retire. At least this tax year.
http://www.foxbusiness.com/features/2016/02/08/taxman-coming-for-super-bowl-champion-broncos.html

Manning got 2 million for making the Super Bowl, then another 2 million for winning it?

Good Lord.

That works out to about 400,000.00 for each first down and 20 grand for each yard of total offense.

Beats working for a living.

That performance yesterday reminds me of the original Griswald family vacation with Clarke's aunt strapped to the roof of the car; the Denver defense strapped Manning to the roof of their defensive machine and drove him to another Lombardi.

Francesa on WFAN mentioned that he received $2 or $3 M for winning the AFC crown.

He made a lot of money selling crappy food and once played football. Wow I'm surprised he is not governor of "Carolina." The NFL owners are ruthless scum. It is not limited to the southern owners if that makes you feel any better.

I can't figure out where the boos for Brady came from? He is actually very well liked in the Bay Area. When he is in town he does local radio shows and receives tons of praise from hosts etc.

Denver fans; why I don't know as Denver is 2-0 in the AFCCG vs New England with Brady as the QB, 3-1 overall.
Carolina fans; Patriots beat them in the Super Bowl back in 2004.
Neutral fans; haters gonna hate.
Yahoo corporate morons who are there being wined and dined;see neutral fans comment.

I don't get the whole neutral fans angle; if you are not a Denver or Carolina fan, why on earth would you attend a Super Bowl, it costs 3 or 4 grand to attend the game; I'm not dropping that much coin unless my team is in it.

Booing someone just because they beat you is pretty sad. Booing someone because of their accomplishments is even more pathetic.

That is like saying the Gettysburg battlefield is not up to Civil War tourist standards and so all future events will be held at Disneyland. There would have been no better place to play the 50th Super Bowl than in the same stadium where they played the first one. The Rams are playing there next year. The place holds 90k. It is a perfectly functional NFL stadium and historic venue. Those are not mutually exclusive unless you buy into the owners' mindset that taxpayers need to fund new multimillion dollar stadiums with lots of luxury boxes for their wealthy buddies. I think this decision boiled down to the fact that the NFL plays Super Bowls only in places where they have teams and they did not have a team in LA when the decision was made.

You clearly have never had a Hardee's sausage egg and cheese biscuit. Fantastic.

Besides, gosh, if the food was so "crappy" how the heck did he make all that money selling it? Sounds like it should be a Harvard case study.

Spend a lot of time in "Carolina" do you? I do. My mother and brother live in Highlands and Charlotte NC, respectively, and my father lives in Charleston SC. All three are quite spectacular places to live, and populated by many intelligent, wonderful people who care about a lot of things a lot more than football, NFL or otherwise.

Ruthless scum, eh? Lol. Class warfare is your game, not mine. Although admittedly, as I hinted before, I would loudly applaud the death of every single Union in America.

And I feel fine thanks, certainly about the south. Apparently the hordes of Yankess that have, are and will move down here every day do too. It's almost like we won the war in the long run! Haha

Hardees; good Christ..............i ate there once, that was enough.

If push came to shove, I'd rather commit a crime and be thrown in jail and get prison food for a meal than eat there again, just God awful.

Making a **** ton of money selling food does not mean said food is any good, see Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, they all sell food and make loads of money, yet what they sell is pure and utter garbage.

That's such a poor comparison it's not even worth comment.

It is just not up to their standards. That's the facts, whether you like them or not. Moreover, if they want them to have luxury boxes, etc., that's their decision as the NFL is a private enterprise. If the Coliseum was in such a great condition, why is USC spending almost $300 M to make renovations.

Well, there are worse ways to make your fortune, and our actual governor here is a lot worse (my opinion anyway).

This has nothing to do with the quality of the food, which is quite irrelevant. He built something out of nothing. You two seem to have a problem with that and the anti Southern bias I'm seeing here is a little troubling.
