I just saw that the home team in these Finals has scored 24 goals while the visiting team has only scored 6 goals.
Game 6 should be great and I think this series goes 7.
The Preds got steamrolled, crushed, and humiliated last night. But if you are going to lose, then lose big. It seems like almost every blowout is followed up by a good performance. The refs were atrocious last night. They give the Pens the obligatory power play in the first minute of the game. 1-0. Crosby pummels a defenseless player's head into the ground while the ref ignores it like nothing is going on and then calls a penalty on Subban. Even the biased NBC commenters laughed at that one. The Pens get another goal in 4-4 play instead of a Preds power play. Later, Crosby throws a water bottle on the ice. Instead of calling a penalty or ejecting him the refs ignore it. Another Pens goal a few seconds later. The Pens outplayed them all night so the refs didn't alter the outcome of the game just the margin but it was otherwise awful.
PENS! Stanley Cup Champs - Back to Back.
Say all what can be said, but the best talent did it and it was an outstanding game to end it. Nashville deserves a lot of credit, they made an outstanding run and I am glad the last game did the finals justice.

The Pens are a great team. They were very resilient this year with all the injuries and grind it takes to get back to back cups. Very deserving of the Cup. With that said the officiating in this series was disgraceful. The NHL should be ashamed to decide games with refs like these. Good grief. In a game like this one that could decide who wins it all and they blow a whistle on the only puck that goes into the net in 58 minutes of play? That was awful. That ref should never see the ice again. That one and the phantom offside call that negated the Preds goal in game one were killers. A real shame that the refs didn't let the players decide the outcome.
The officiating goes both ways as in all sports. Look at this game right before the last Predator Power PLay - a Pen is flipped in the air by a stick and lands jawfirst on the ice, how is that not tripping, flagrant, whatever you want to call it. The series was what is was, the last game was pretty exciting and I thought the way a game should be between the 2 finalists. Not the home ice blowouts we saw previously on both sides. The better team won in the end and they capitalized on a loaded talented team. Even with all the superstar talent, you still have to put it together on the ice and they did.
A good analogy is the New England Patriots - they are a dominant dynasty for the last 15 years, but they have not won every Super Bowl, you still have to win each game. The Pens have won 3 with Crosby and Malkin, it just shows how hard it is to win it all.

Penalty calls are one thing. They are sometimes subjective and may or may not impact the outcome. Negating a goal, however, in a game that then goes 58 plus minutes at 0-0 was disgraceful. That was a game and potentially series deciding call that was outright blown by the ref. The ref was out of position and couldn't see the puck was loose. One big takeaway from this season and playoffs is that the goalie interference and offside decisions have to be less subjective. They are often game deciding calls in close games because they are only reviewed when there is a goal. There was absolutely no way the video review of that offside call in game one showed offsides. The call on the ice was onsides. How does a ref justify overturning that call? These games are so close that taking goals off the board are killers.
