NHL Playoffs (2 Viewers)

I think this could still be a series, the Pens gas tank has gotta be running near empty.......................

Nope, not gonna happen and like Doug said, no way, no how Nashville beats Pittsburg 4 out of 5.

They were pelting Murray all night long, then Pittsburg rushes up ice, shoots the puck, it deflects off the organ players head and into the net.

Tip your cap and move on...............................it's comical how Pittsburg changes goalies and Murray is a brick wall back there; if Nashville swapped out Rinne for the back up, the Penguins would probably win 72-3.

I'm not surrendering on the Preds behalf. Just noting that victory may no longer be attainable. LOL. I think the Preds win game three and then game four can go either way. But it's going to be a tough nut to win four out of five.

I was going to run my mouth (keyboard) about how Nashville has no business having an NHL franchise. Then I remembered that many people said the same thing about San Jose when they got the Sharks. It all came down to dollars and cents. Silicon Valley was flush with money at the time and the NHL wanted a piece of that pie.

The Sharks were pretty bad for their first few years and ownership could have cared less. They sold out every game and their team merchandise was the top seller in the NHL. They only put some money into the roster when people stopped going to the games and true fans came out when the internet bubble burst.

Nowadays, like every other sporting venue in the Bay Area it is not about the sport but about being seen and saying you have season tickets. True hockey fans in the Bay Area are difficult to find. Sure they might know who Wayne Gretzky is but ask them who Gordie Howe is and they will tell you he is the co-founder of Intel (that would be Gordon Moore).

Pens seemed flat after their first goal.

And am I the only one who thinks that Nashville's "Let's Go Preds" cheer sounds like "Let's Go Pens"?

I think "Let's go Pens" sounds like "Let's go Preds" myself..............man was that joint rocking last night. Quite a party in the streets of Nashville after the game too; those rabid, die hard, knowledgeable fans know that you have to win FOUR games to win the Stanley Cup, right?

Gee, I hope so...................someone should have interviewed Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman after the game to get their thoughts on the neutral zone trap and if they prefer a standard defense or the 1 3 1................................and also what is a puck made out of....................

If the Preds couldn't win a must win game in their first home Stanley Cup game they were getting swept. The test will be whether they can bring that intensity again. I was struck with how much better they played when the pace of the game picked up. They skated circles around the Pens. When the game bogs down the Pens start blocking every shot and shutting them down.

Pens got flat after the first goal as Jason said, Preds are a fast team, Pens need to take them out of their game to win. I am hopeful Pens come back and take a 3-1 back to Pittsburgh.

Must win for the Preds again tonight. Their only hope is to win out at home and maybe steal one in Pittsburgh. Interested to see if they can maintain the intensity of game three and come out flying. Get the Pens on their heels. Forsberg still hasn't shown up. He is the best player on Nashville and overdue for a big game.

Unless I get a barrage of scoring in the 3rd, going back to Pitt tied up. GD it.

Yup, just my luck, now tied at 2-2. Home ice seems huge in this series, Pens need to win Game 5 to regain momentum. Need scoring.

Everything was pretty even in the game, shots, penalties, shots on goal etc. The scoring has simply not been there for the Pens.

Another entertaining game. I thought the Pens played their best game of the series and had a lot of great chances but the Rinne shut them down. He had an amazing game. Crosby played his best game of the series and maybe playoffs. The Preds are tough at home. Imagine what that atmosphere will be like if they come back for game six with a chance to win the Cup.

Home ice is a advantage in this series so far for sure. I think the Pens have to win Game 5 to break the momentum. As you said, it seems like these games go in streaks, and after blow outs, the other team returns the favor, I am hoping the Pens can reset. I think as I said before it is not an often chance to repeat, to do so is very tough and they have a great chance here. You don't get two players like Crosby and Malkin on the same side of the ice often, have to take advantage of it. My only concern which has been throughout the playoffs is how much gas is left in their tank, they seem like they have "moved mountains" to get this far even as one of the favorites.

Winning the Cup is a real grind. Both teams are at 100+ games for the year. The Pens looked a bit more tired and beat up to me. Maybe because this is the second year in a row they have got to the finals. I actually thought they played much better last night than the two games they won. Rinne just shut the door on them. Both teams have played well on the road. So I will not be surprised if the home streak comes to an end. The long break between games four and five likely helps the Pens but if I like the Preds chances better of stealing game five than a game seven in Pittsburgh. The playoff experience advantage comes into play big time in game seven. I think the Pens have been outshot in every game now. It seems like a tough nut to win a series if you get outshot every game but I suppose anything is possible. I would rank the Pens chances as 60-40 now of winning. Down from 100-0 after game two. LOL.

Doug,
I agree, I would be lying if as a fan I would say I am not nervous! They need to win Game 5 as Nashville found their mojo, I am just hoping a reset at home is just what the doctor ordered. I think the Pens have the horsepower to win, just have to restart the proverbial engine. They need to find the net.

I just read that the Pens beat the Sharks last year without a single goal from Crosby. Granted there is more to his game than scoring goals, but it does prove that Pittsburgh has the depth to win even when their top player is not putting the puck in the net.

My Kings didn't make the cut this year but they just signed a guy named Bokondji "Boko" Imama. I'm not sure if he is any good but that has to be my new favorite NHL name.
