She is a all what I was hoping for 20 months ago. A great show piece for my collection. If you can go the distance with the cost, confident you will not regret getting this one. I am sure some clever member will write a review soon to assist in your decision. Whilst I have all The War in the Nile items, just at the moment my head set is with the Light Horse series, no doubt I will swing back to this era soon. It seemed therefore not appropriate to post any photos on this thread, but if you are interested in a look at number 4 Nile boat of 100, see my Diorama Thread....Time on my hands. Clever use of the Gun boat in the Diorama thread. Nice to see it survived its Sudan war experience and was put to good use in WWI also. Hopefully we will get to see it under attack by the Mahdists.

For those who might be considering this item I will say the packing is excellent. Cardboard box with big red
Britans box inside. Interior packing very well done and boat lifts out with two straps. Not a cheap item I know but
very well designed and a great conversation piece. Will be interesting to see if others come up with other uses
for the boat.

I was lucky to receive Nos 1-4 and 7 & 8. Number in black marker pen on outside of box is same as number on
certificate.

Nile Gunboat has docked and what a beauty! Here a few pics. Sorry for the poor backdrop, using a tablecloth until I can get something more suitable. If you deduct for the figs and cannon the price for the boat alone comes in around $650, quite a bargain IMO. Chris

This gunboat is fantastic. I set the one up in the shop. The only things I would do are nit-picking only so I will keep those remarks to myself. As I said it is fantastic and a real treat. All of you lucky enough to get one are to be congratulated.!

^&grinMagnificent pictures of a magnificent model ! I first saw this boat at the Toy Soldier Museum in Cresco, PA, USA, at an open house held early this past November. Since the production of this model is only 400 pieces worldwide, anyone with the means in purchasing this item will be lucky.

Was this boat 100% cast and assembled in the UK or China ?
As a retired industrial designer and model maker, few people would know or appreciate all the talent and skills that went into the modeling, tooling and skills required in putting this boat together!

What interested me was how the technology and materials available in the 1840s was applied in the building of these boats.

As a long time skilled modeler who now lives on a fixed income but still mentally twenty, my hobby is supported by what I do. It's the old chicken and egg analogy ! When I sell a handmade model or diorama the funds are used in buying a few miniature figures and other items such as bench lathe and small drill press. For it's a matter of turning my love of history into a three-dimensional item.

It was the inspiration of seeing the Britain gunboat that had me building a version of my own which quickly sold that provided me the funds for the purchase more Britain Civil War figures for myself !
F.Y.I. My great-great grandfather was a member of "Co E", 76th Reg of the Pennsylvania Volunteers, Zuoaves that landed in Hilton Head, SC. I'm trying to make a diorama of this unit !

Mine arrived wednesday, it's a lovely model number 279 well worth the expenditure, also received the 27033 Mahdist Mounted on Camel Charging no.2, 27032 British Dismounted Camel Corps NCO Wounded No.1, and 27030 British Camel Corps Trooper and Pack Camel No.1.
