North Africa 1941-43 (2 Viewers)

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like them.

Brent,
This latest scene is pretty much all dio. The sky is a 36" x 24" backdrop I had made. The scenics are a combination of Build-a-Rama and JG Miniatures and the sand is the deco sand I found at Michaels (10 bags worth).

Larry,
There is definitely good quality equipment (camera, lenses, lights, tripods etc.) involved. It really is a case of diminishing returns though. I'm amazed at some of the quality pictures people post that were taken with point and shoot cameras.

One more from the same scene:

Before I put this scene away I thought I would try the Pz.III in it.

By changing the lighting and camera angle a radically different picture emerges.

Excellent once again . . . I especially like these two especially the last photo . . . . Sometimes when I view the fantastic results that you are able to get, I think perhaps I should buy a more expensive camera and lens system before purchasing any further TS. Its a matter of deciding whether I like collecting TS or the photogaphy of TS that I consider my main interest of the hobby. Although I get satisfactory results with my inexpensive Vivitar "point and shoot", my photos are no where close as good as yours are Frank. A good digital SLR Nikon body and lens equates to a lot of FL figures though . . . . hmmmmm what ever should I do . . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Thanks Al and Mike,

Mike, for me photography is a hobby in its own right so I would have had the camera regardless of collecting toy soldiers. I have purchased a couple items specifically to photograph miniatures (a macro lens and two lights). I don't have many permanent displays so photography is an important element of the toy soldier hobby for me as it allows me to enjoy the scenes long after I put the various elements away. It also allows my artistic side to get a workout.

Frank,

Amazing work with the lighting effects! Keep it up, you really bring the best out.

Ken

Frank your kill'n me, everytime I talk myself into staying with Stalingrad only, you post some awesome pics of DAK,:) ...I'm hang'n tough but gets tougher with every DAK release...Sammy

Very nice {bravo}} thanks for sharing....... regards Gebhard

Frank,

That's about a perfect as a blending of background to military miniatures as I think I've seen. You can feel the heat streaming off the sand.

Excellent Photo's the FL PanzerIII DAK Model is simply the best AFV model ever produced in 1:30 scale....Hope we will see the Big Cats soon

Thanks Brad, I took a few pictures of the setup of this dio with my point and shoot but I can't locate the USB cable to upload them. Once I locate a cable I'll post them.

Frank, you deliver pictures of always the same high quality at a consistent pace. Thank you for that.

I wish you would venture into an additional line to expand not only your but also out enjoyment of the FL products.

I'm actually quite tempted by the new Landsknechte. Fantastic looking figures. Not sure how to pay for them and keep up WWII though.

I agree. WW II being one of the "flagship" ranges, it is quite pecuniarily intense.

I had to limit my WW II collection to Stalingrad.

Frank mate,
Outstanding use of the camera cobber. I wish I could do the same. The blend of sand to sky to figures and AFV is amazing. Keep em coming.
Cheers Howard
