I find desert scenes are the most difficult to light (white balance, intensity, direction) followed closely by snow scenes.

Prior to cleaning up my photography table I wanted to take a shot of the prime mover towing the 15cm field howitzer. The lighting in this series is better than the first series IMO.

Incredibly cold here in southern Wisconsin and snowy. 5 inches of the white fluffy stuff fell last night and tomorrow's HIGH will only be -7 F with wind chills of -30 F or more. It doesn't take long for "cabin fever" to take hold with outside conditions like this. This has given me some time to reorganize some TS storage space that's been long overdue. Here are a few photos of a diorama base I made several years ago that I used with my K&C Crusaders and Saracens when I collected that range. The Crusaders and their foe have been long gone, having been used to finance new TS range interest. However, I kept the dio base because I have always been fascinated with desert warfare and scenery and thought that one day I might be able to use it again. When I rediscovered this base a few days ago I wondered . . . . oh what could I use this with . . . . any suggestions :wink2: Stay tuned and see . . .

I made the base using materials I easily obtained from my local Michaels Craft Store, along with some K&C scenics (desert well), JG Minatures (desert rocks, desert plants), and Departement 55 scenics (plam trees, ancient city walls and gate).

I wasn't to hard to do at all Brad . . . . Somewhere in the archieves I have a thread on this dio and how I made it, step by step. I'll try and find it and if successful I will post the link for it.

CORRECTION on materials used:

I made the base using materials I easily obtained from my local Michaels Craft Store, along with some K&C scenics (desert well), JG Minatures (desert rocks, desert plants), and Departement 55 scenics (plam trees, ancient city walls and gate).

I don't have any scenics for this range yet but i just couldn't help myself. I re-purposed my steppe terrain mat and took a picture of the wonderful DAK Sd.Kfz.232. If this vehicle is an indication of what is to come I'm really looking forward to this range.

You should take your photos and put them in a 12 month calendar to sell to members. They are really well done and I think I calendar with your photos in it would generate discussion as well as please the eye when people see it. They are amazing.{sm3}
