When we consider a diorama, invariably we think of an action scene, but we should consider also other situations, patrol, drilling for example that took a lot of the garrisons time....
Thinking of that I tried to come up with this thread so as to post all the scenes that I have done that were focused on the British complex actions in guarding the Khyber Pass and were not action related, but more of a garrison life style...hope you like it...
Cheers

Thank you Luiz for the nice photos of garrison duty. The figures and scenery is amazing. I am reading the book "Queen Victorias Little Wars", which fits your photos. What are the companies that make the glossy figures from this period? I have some K&C, Frontline and Britain's in my collection. Glossy figures are my favorites. John

Hi John,
Thanks for the note.
In separate threads I have the part of the battalion in fighting...with squares and all....feel free to check my album also with many more pics..:salute:::salute::
The book you are reading is just fantastic I really recommend it, puts you into the mood and into the time of all the great little wars during Victoria´s Reign. You should try Britain´s Forgotten Wars, also a great reading material.
The one Regiment that I have used as focus for these sets was the Royal Irish Fusiliers, so all infantry is realted to that Regiment and the Mounted Troops are the famous 21 Lancers.....
The manufacturers of these sets are Stadden, Tradition From London, TAW - Toy Army Workshop, Miason Militarie some WETs ( William Edwards Toy Soldiers ) and even one machine gun detachment by Yeomanry ( Brian a member of the forum also ) and some of the artillery pieces are either Hinchcliffe, Mountford or Steadfast.....Pitty that only Steadfast, Tradition of London and Maison Militarie have survived these harsh days...
Cheers

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the note and recommended link, it is a great tip...
The Heliograph party is a great set that came to me via a close friend some time ago....Since then I have not seen another, and by surprise I saw one at one of the pictures of the latest London Fair....Lucky guy the one that snapped it..I would have loved to do so, hence having the two sets in a dio communicating to each other....:salute:::salute::
Cheers

Hello Luiz,
Great diorama with wonderful detail, particularly liked the heliograph party communicating from the watch tower. You might be interested in this blog page including a poem by Rudyard Kipling; http://arnhemjim.blogspot.com/2011/06/19th-century-military-communications-at.html .

Jim,
A closer look at the Heliograph section....Cheers Luiz
