Not So Good Hamleys Hussars (2 Viewers)

Here is my slant on this. And it may not apply to others maybe I am the only one ???

I was never a fan of history, wars, etc.... but I do love my toy soldiers :D Which has only recently become a passion of mine. I buy purely what I like and I don't do dioramas. The 9th Lancers mounted band was a set I admired because I thought they looked neat so I purchased them. They don't mean anything to me and I really don't know anything about them. I don't really care either.
My point is though how may people buy a set JUST because it looks neat. I also ask (and not being sure of the regiments I apologize) that if they make the 11th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st etc Hussars and then you have the 9th, 17th etc Lancers to the ordinary person ie ME they all end up looking the same.

Sorry to seem longwinded and I hope you get my drift.

Well said and to the point.

Yo Troopers, this is how my Hamleys turned up, looks like they where in "The Charge of the Light Brigade" really gutted over this. Who are the expert repair people what about you Vampire, two of the lugs have broken off in the arm, the mounted on the right has lost paint between his legs, and one horse has a paint chip. They will have to reduce price a lot from £150.00. What you reckon Troopers its worth in this condition. It would be alright for your Dio on Balaklava Dick lol.
Bernard.:(

Bernard,

Just to update you, I have begun repairs to the above. The lugs turned out to be chunks of dried paint and glue and so after I cleaned off all the surplus crap the arms fitted better. These have been fixed back on with gel super glue. The bits and bobs which required black I have touched up already and tomorrow the remaining chips and joints will be finished. Give it a few days for the paint to dry and I will get them in the post to you.
I will post a photo tomorrow when they are complete.

Regards,

Jeff

Jeff

That's the great thing with Jeff. His hobbies are mostly 'armless.

Sorry

Great job Jeff!

But Simon you must agree which you have he not as 'armless as he seems. Once again Jeff very nicely done.....The Lt.

Thanks.......they appeared to have been in the wars somewhat! The good thing with gloss paint is that with a bit of trial and error you can mix up most colours to get a reasonably good match. Hope trooper Bernard thinks so....;)

Jeff

Nearly there . I've been doing half an hour or so a night. I'll get some photos up of where I'm at.

Yo Surgeon General, Trooper Bernard is delighted they look great, thanks a million Jeff. Just wait for the verdict off "Damian" to see if these are good enough to pose around Hyde Park for the ladies.
Bernard.

Yo Jeff, another thing the photo's are superb, what camera do you use, I can never get photo's that good, and what do you use for the background for photo's.
Bernard.

Bernard,

My pleasure :) It's a nice looking set, I used to have some of the Britains Limited Edition sets years ago including the Lifeguards, wish I had kept them now.

Bernard,

It's a Sony Cybershot (7.2 Megapixels) and just a sheet of curved artists paper.

Yo trooper Dave, just been re-wound up on this topic again. Britains & Cavalry. Have a look at ebay UK listed today Yeomanry Cavalry, this is what I was trying to get across to Britains, and if all these dont sell for good dollars, I will eat my 7th Hussars lol.
Bernard.
Hope you are watching Britains for your comments. ???????

I just paid attention to this thread and what a great looking set and what a great job Jeff did. We better delete the words "Not So Good" from this thread. Jeff does really super work.
