It is a wonderful tank, a throwback to K/C vintage offerings. Open hatches, multiple crew, and enough stowage to make it lived in. Plus the bonus of open track suspension and no crud mass:salute::..Michael

Rec'd mine Friday. Great model to go with the other figs and the Tiger. Very plsd with this addition to my collection and brings alot of great memories of one of my favorite movies, which I guess is one of the objects of collecting. No reservations concerning scale, tracks, etc. Thanks KC for a unique and special piece. Chris

I hope this tank comes with a piece of pipe so the crew can stick it on the end of the gun barrel so the kraut's think it's a 90mm gun.................:wink2:

This tank and his two others are being held in reserve in case the Germans mount a counteroffensive on Paris........or New York..................{sm2}{sm3}{sm4}

Hi George, the barrel is sized to simulate a 90mm gun. :wink2: Chris

Thanks Andy for the shout out in the latest Collector Magazine on the tank. Let me take a moment to publically thank you for taking me up on my idea and model and getting it made! Also, as soon as the bank facade is in place and fountain, I will take a photo of the 3 Mighty Tigers firing up!

All the best
Tom

On my original model, there was the extra piece of pipe to put over the barrel, I am guessing that when they made it they just decided to go one piece and make it 90mm. You could always craft a little oversized wrap of metal or similar if you want the "pipe" to stick over the barrel!

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for all the very favourable comments and feedback on our K&C version of “Oddball’s Sherman”...And a very big THANKYOU to fellow collector and “Toy Soldier Show” attendee TOM DUBEL...

As some of you may know Tom is a regular attendee at Toy Soldier Shows in Chicago, LA and I’m sure others around the States.

He has also been an extremely useful, unpaid “Volunteer” in the K&C room and on the K&C stands at many of these same events over the years.

It was well over a year ago when, after a few beers (or was it bourbon and diet cokes), that our usual late night talks turned around to favourite “war movies”...”Kelly’s Heroes” was a particular favourite of Tom’s, Han’s, Chris’, Gordon’s and yours truly’s...All the "Usual Suspects” who, among others, gathered in the K&C “Ready Room” late at night and into the wee small hours to discuss toy soldiers, the state of the nation (the U.S. and the U.K. that is) and lots of other “Boys’ Stuff”.

Tom told us he had had a custom-model made for him of “Oddball’s Tank” and would be happy to let K&C borrow it for reference. Tom had also “posted” pix of the same tank on Treefrog as well.

So, never one to look a gift horse in the month, I accepted Tom’s generous offer.

We agreed that, in return, Tom would receive the very first of the “counter samples” of the K&C version when it was made.

Jump forward to now and “Karl Otto’s Tiger” and “Oddball’s Sherman” are already on the streets, so to speak.

Once more, I’m delighted to say that, a K&C’s collectors’ direct input has proved providential as well as inspirational to a major K&C release.

Thankyou Tom, you helped make this one happen...Looking forward to Chicago and...a few more late nights!

All the best and happy collecting,

Andy

Love the tank and the correct size to match KC figures...Always said that KC"s Armour/Vehicles were too small, that said i still keep buying the stuff!!. What i don"t like so much is the colour..(at least in photographs) much to green IMO, Looks more like British armour green.....This is not a tank for me,I"m not really a Movie/personality collector, what i just might be tempted to open the purse strings for is the upcoming Fury Sherman....Let"s hope that KC uses the correct
US. Olive drab for this tank!!!.

Remember that as a "movie personality" the M4A3E4 tanks in "Kelly's Heroes" were not painted in US olive drab - they were Yugoslavian Army green - that's who the tanks came from. All versions of the movie and stills show that the vehicles in "Kelly's Heroes" were a lighter, more green color than any US tank. Fury was painted correctly for a US tank in NW Europe - dark OD with a black overspray and lots of dirt.

For all you Kelly' Heroes fans (and you Where Eagles Dare fans, as well), there are 2 publications dedicated to these movies. They are available at RZM.com and are paperback/magazine form. Published by Cinema Retro, Where Eagles Dare is 116 pages and costs $15.95 while the Kelly's Heroes mag is 80 pages and costs $11.95. Both are heavily illustrated with inside stories, interviews, etc. -- Al
