New old shows have started showing up on a couple of my cable stations. In addition to the Bonanza and Gunsmoke reruns, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, The Lone Ranger, the High Chaperral, Big Valley, and The Virginian are now in regular rotation. My childhood hath returneth. None of these are on my Western Channel either, which already runs Lawman, Have Gun will Travel, Wagon Train, Rawhide, and Gene Autry. We live in a great age.^&grin -- Al

Hi Al,

Have seen Gunsmoke..Bonanza and Virginian on cable (FOX) here in Aust,,,,,not aware of Hopalong and the Singing Cowboys being on cable here....could be....I watch the movie channels mostly with some History and some Doc's thrown in....Hey...Hey...would love to see Hopalong and Have Gun again.....think Trigger was a better actor than Roy (God Bless Him).....bit of luck we might get the good one's here too.....have heard they are making a Lone Ranger movie ( he sure made William Tell famous)...hope they dont stuff it as in most remake's they do....TomB

No 'Cisco Kid'?

We have been getting re-runs of Gunsmoke and High Chaparral on TCM in the UK. I'd like to see Wanted: Dead or Alive with Steve McQueen, it's over 30 years since he died

Cheers

Cisco was in rotation a while back, but I don't remember on what station, although I think it was one of the Hispanic stations. The quality of the recordings were not very good. -- Al

Watching Lone Ranger as I type this.^&grin I can't think of a single TV show that I have ever watched that is more identified with it's theme than the Lone Ranger, although old Roy's Happy Trails comes close. I notice that in the episode I am watching that Glenn Strange is playing a bad guy. Strange played the long suffering bartender, Sam, on Gunsmoke, years after this LR episode. One of the fun things about watching these old reruns is spotting the many actors that appear time and again in so many different shows over many years time. Oddly enough, this is episode 1 in the televised series, where the Lone Ranger got his start. -- Al

Mark, this must be a relatively recent occurence as I have just found them in the last couple of weeks or so. -- Al

I agree, Martyn. It would be great fun to see Steve with his sawed off lever action at work again. I would also like to see Nick Adams in his old series 'The Rebel'. Been a long time since I have seen either of them. -- Al

I'ds like to see the one where Walter Brennen and his grandson was looking for his son.Wasn't that called the Guns of Will Sonnett? Also would like to see Cheyenne,Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone with Fess Parker.

Will Sonnett, No brag, just fact. That was a good one. Cheyenne was being run down here for a long time but I don't think it is in rotation right now. Parker's Daniel Boone was also on but isn't shown currently. I guess these stations pick up a series for a given time then drop them on a regular basis. Stuff just shows up and disappears without notice. -- Al

Cheyenne was another favourite of mine, along with Bronco starring Ty Hardin
