You know the 2014 Show is only 2 months away, that,s not a long time. I,ve made my hotel reservations a few months back. To me this will be a very interesting year. Not because of products but about attendance.
Out of the 20 some odd OTSN,s I,ve been to last years was a pretty big disappointment. Again not for the products but attendance, meaning lack of.
Maybe we can start a roll call here, I,ll be there Thur., Fri, & Sat. Although after last years Saturday, that could be an option.

Hi Gary,

I have already made my hotel reservations for the show as well. I plan to arrive on Thursday afternoon and leave on Monday morning.

I agree that attendance last year was way down during the room trading days. However, I thought the show on Sunday was reasonably well attended. At any rate, I am planning on having a very good time this year! :) See you there!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat,

What hotel should I stay at that is walking distance to the show. Never been, but seriously contemplating it.

I'll be there, 18 years and counting. Am leaving Monday afternoon, will be there Tuesday and will be open for business at noon on Wednesday. Will have three rooms; 5340, 5342 and 5344.

And Pat is spot on; the past couple of years, the room trading traffic has been down, but the day of the show has been very, very good.

Myself and Mr Larry look forward to seeing a lot of old faces and also some new ones as well............................

John,

I stay at the Hotel where it is held, the Hyatt Regency Schaumberg in Schaumberg.

Phone number is 847 605 1234.

Just made my reservation. I wouldn't wait too long as they do get full pretty quickly. However, there are other hotels in the area.

I've been going since 2005 (except for two years when business and family obligations called).

Brad

Been to every show since 1991 and have never stayed at the Hyatt. Granted I have a car so that helps, but the last 15 years I have stayed at a LaQuinta. Rates are about 40% cheaper than the Hyatt and a free breakfast. It,s about a half mile away or 15 minute walk.

Nothing like rolling out of bed and walking down the hall to see toy soldiers :wink2:

Gents,

Sorry to disappoint, but as of Yesterday I made two massive K&C purchases that wiped my OTSN funds out. Jazz knows and consulted with me about one of them, the other is top secret and "hush-hush". I am a little bummed as I wanted to meet the lot of yous and have some fun, but man I am completely wiped out this summer on hobby funds. Boo-hoo.

Have fun guys as it is slowly coming. I really, really wanted to eat Chicago style pizza, hoagies, dogs..."Da Bears" style with y'all.

I'll be there Friday through Monday
I wanted to get there thursday, but can't swing it. Looking forward to meeting everyone there

I will be there on Friday. I live less than a 2 hour drive from Schaumburg so its an easy trip for me. I will arrive early Friday morning and will leave Friday evening.

Don't give up the ship yet, maybe something will work out..this show is super. Good luck Ron

Just checked out of curiosity if the Hyatt Regency was completely booked. It appears that they no longer have any rooms available for the weekend of the show unless your a premier or silver member. Like a few others I appear to be in a pickle as well. I will not know until last minute if I can make it this year. I usually like staying on site but it appears I will have to make an exception this year if I do get a chance to go.

I'm pretty sure that it is a Marriott that is across the parking lot from the place, plus another one about a half-mile away. Check Google satellite. They usually have better prices than the Hyatt.

I saw that on their website as well...but when I called they did have rooms still available for the OTSN block. It's worth a call!

GK, we are travelling on Thursday and I plan to to to the show on Friday (assuming all goes according to plan). I want to find the room with the Austin Marines ASAP (insert smile here) then I want to see the new TSSD Germans (and see if they have any info on their Marines). I'm not aware of any other WW2 plastics, but I'm open to suggestions. I want to see First Legion's new Sherman. I also want to go to the K&C room just to see if Andy will kill me at first sight. Got to go visit George (Warrior) to say "Howdy". It would be interesting if Conte shows up.

We are staying about 22 miles away, but that works out for my other interests - enjoying Chicago, doing a little train watching on the UP mainline to the west and (I hope) going over to Wheaton to do more photos of the tanks at the First Division Museum. Looking forward to a good Portillo's "Chicago Style" hot dog and to seeing GK5717 again.

Gary, that is great, I am glad you'll be going to the show.

Sounds like we'll have a fun bunch of collectors attending...................

I finally posted my first round of photos to the Playset Magazine website. You can see them HERE. I will be posting more.

Overall, I think it was a good show.. As usual, slow at times, busy at others... Attendance may have been down somewhat and the air traffic problems definitely kept some people away.

I had a great time and enjoyed seeing old friends and new.

Thx,

Jim
