My father has started making some tanks in order to take a break from the rigging of WW1 aircraft. His life expectancy just took a jump ... so did Mum's!

Tell ya, Dad, to keep making this WW2 beast as this is superb, much better than that stressful WW1 stuff ^&grin

Hey Martin, tell the builder that he did a nice job with his tank model!

Honestly, there's a downside to just about all kit building. True, rigging biplanes is a pain. However, I find painting complex canopy frames on many monoplanes to be just as bad. When it comes to tanks, many of the newer/better kits come with individual track-links which have to be glued/strung together one at a time. Also, I've found brushing (or spraying) the rubber rims around the road-wheels to be quite tedious. I don't mind this if the finished product suits me, but the process of getting "it" there can take weeks...or months.:redface2:

I think he is actually very pleased with the way this one turned out. I did laugh though when he made the observation that some people who make models of tanks are really particular about small historical inaccuracies! I feel like starting a thread and asking if anyone else has noticed!

Have a Merry Christmas in the land of the free and the home of the brave. It will be hot and uncomfortable here!

There does seem to be something about tank modeling, particularly that which involves German armor, that attracts "obsessive personalities." I witnessed the same phenomena in wargaming, BTW. A fella might not know the rules well enough to complete a turn, but he could tell me all about the differences beteween one model of Stug III and another..and how the game failed to simulate them so miserably!:rolleyes2:

Merry Xmas to you, too, Martin, and don't lament your summer. Just four (or five) more months to go!
