Papa Zulu...RIP... (1 Viewer)

This is really sad news. My condolences to his family.

Joe was inspirational and highly encouraging in the setup and photography of scenes featuring the toy soldiers/military miniatures we all enjoy. It used to always make me smile when he would talk about play time. I'm going to miss his Zulu scenes

Such sad news. Joe always encouraged me with my dios. He was such a positive force on the forum. He will be greatly missed. Chris

I really hope Joe's sister gets to read this; Terry, if you do, 43 replies and over 800 views should tell you all you need to know about how well thought of on this forum your brother was, a really great guy.

My Dad also is sad over this as well, I've been ill the past couple of days, told him this morning, he was pretty upset, he told me to tell you he's sorry for your loss.

George...

I'm going to send this link to her...
I'm sure she will enjoy reading all the nice comments about her brother and seeing the photos Tim posted......

I had just spoken to him about joining The International Society of Battleground Artists (ISBA) a few months ago and he said he would love to become a member and would contact me as soon as he got a few projects out of the way.

This is very shocking news as I was looking forward to a closer relationship with him in regards to our shared interest in developing dioramas.

My condolences to his family.

Very sad and Joe will be greatly missed. He was always so encouraging about everyone's posts and such a terrific photographer. Tommy

We've been talking recently about how many members we actually have because some people have left the hobby, don't come on here after joining or maybe have passed on and maybe removing non active members in some way.My one request is that Joe always remains a member as long as the forum exists.

This is such sad news. I noticed I didn't get a Christmas card featuring the Little Captain this year but I hadn't realized Joe was ill. On behalf of the whole Treefrog Treasures team, our deepest condolences to his family and sweet little puppy.
He, along with his zeal for all things AZW will be greatly missed here on the Treefrog forum.

Sincerely,
Shannon Reuss

Shannon made a special category called Memorium members for people like Doug Stork and Chuck Harris who, like Joe, were great individuals and men. I used to talk to Chuck pretty regularly until he got really ill and I went to Doug's wake; it was very sad. All three will be and are remembered by those who knew them.

We are all members of a unique fraternity, brothers united by our enthusiasm for toy soldier collecting. It does not matter what manufacturers you collect, scale etc., if you love toy soldiers you are one of us. I only knew Joe through his posts and that in and of itself makes me realize that our forum has lost a true presence. Thankfully his passion for this hobby will live on in all of us.

Best thoughts to Joe and his family.

-Jason

My sympathies for Joe's family. He will be missed by his fellow forum members and his family. We are better people for knowing Joe.
Goodbye, LT.

Brian

Rest in peace Joe.... You will be missed greatly... He helped me out when I got into collecting Zulu War figures... Thinking about it he was the reason I started collecting Zulu War. Just seeing all his awesome scenes and photos.

I am sadden to hear about Joe's passing. I will miss his e-mails and talks. I never met Joe personally but we talked for years. I will miss this great gentleman. RIP
Joe. John

Joe was a true gentleman and my friend. I had visited him many times in his home to do toy soldier repairs...work on photographs...and any other excuse we could find for TS camaraderie. I admired his passion for this hobby, his love of history, and his unrelenting commitment and generosity to his friends.

I visited with Joe for the last time tonight at his wake in Methuen MA. I would like to think that I was there on behalf of all his Treefrog friends who could not be. Joe's family are as warm and sweet as he and a tribute to the quality in a man that so many appreciated and respected.

I will miss him.

His passing has made for a sad Christmas indeed. He was a true gentlemen and one of the most joyful and enthusiastic practitioners of the hobby I have ever known. I feel very fortunate to have met him and truly enjoyed his prolific photographic postings and kind and encouraging emails. He truly will be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family.

As far as TS forums go, for me, 'The LT' was AZW

It was marvelling at his dios that got me into collecting the WB AZW range

Loved his passion for the subject and he was a true gentleman

Will miss his dios, calendars and chats

RIP Lt.

Nicholas I hope you told his family how we are so very sorry for their loss and that he seemed like family to us even those who never met him.
