Photobucket appears to have responded to the acrimony among its users, at least, among the paying customers. I just got this email from PB:

"An Exclusive Offer Just for You!

You Spoke, We Listened.
Photobucket is now offering a monthly plan
Congratulations! You're part of Photobucket's Elite Beta Group! You have been hand selected out of millions of users to be an essential part of our team of influencers. Best part so far? We have created a monthly option for our Plus 500 Plan. And YOU get the first crack at it. It's only available from the link below, so click below to get started!
Start Your Monthly Plan Now

For more detailed information, please refer to Photobucket’s Terms of Use."

How they think that offering a monthly option is going to get people to sign up is still not clear.

Or to quote Adam Sandler, doing an impression of Jerry Seinfeld, "Who are the ad wizards who came up with this one?!"

Prost!

I've left PB and I won't look back . . . . Found out that I really don't need them . . .

I think they really stuck it to their subscribers...

no notice to download or remove your photos...

no notice to save them somewhere else...

they just slammed the door...

somebody should sue them...

some people have what they consider priceless photos of children...family...friends...deceased...weddings...etc...

and now they can't retrieve them to share...

that was wrong of PB to pull that one...

Can you not still download your photos and put them somewhere else? I have never used them for anything other than a place to dump copies of photos for posting online. I have plenty of electronic storage at our house to save the photos.

Tom

you can?

maybe I misunderstood...I thought PB was holding all stored photos captive...

Yes, you can download them. PB has stopped providing 3rd-party hosting, for the non-paying users right now, and for paid subscribers up to the end of 2018. So wherever in the Internet there is a link to an image stored at Photobucket, by a non-paying customer, Photobucket no longer responds to display the image. But you can still access the site and remove your files.

Yes, they have mishandled this. It will be interesting to see how it continues to play out. It looks like there is an exodus away from Photobucket, and I wonder if they bleed enough, if they might reverse themselves somehow.

Whoever made this decision ranks right up there with the Fox programming execs who canceled "Firefly" for short-sightedness and poor judgment.

Prost!

I agree with this. Their business is really going down. A bad business decision from the very beginning. PB turned their customers away, plain and simple.
They turned away non-paying Users. Good business decision. The only bad aspect is that they could have used more
finesse. Maintaining all those servers is an expense.

Do businesses advertise with a company whose base is shrinking?

The businesses aren't advertising on Photobucket. They are using Photobucket to
host Ads on other sites. Much like Google. Businesses will use what ever advertising rates are cheapest.
Besides they pay by number of hits.

Has anyone had any luck downloading albums from Photobucket? I keep going through the steps, but nothing happens.
