Please make a dead Bin Laden (1 Viewer)

I fully agree! K&C already issued a "capture of BL" some years ago, and as far as I know nobody set a jihad on them. I already mentioned this shortly ago on a "dispatches today?" thread, and I think that releasing a special forces set depicting SEALS and Deltas are certainly in place. After all this is an iconic historical event, and staying bellow of radar just because of fear of retribution is giving the thug a longer life.... Putting it simply, the ongoing war (which is far from over) was mainly shaped under a reaction to this man`s actions, and the military importance of this raid certainly ranks among the most celebrated operations in war history. Not only do I support whichever toy soldier company that may manufacture such figures as well as I will promptly buy them and proudly display!{sm4}

I whole hartedly agree! I don't own a figure depcting anything past WWI, but I would buy his set. With all of the crazy chaos right now, this is like a beam of hope. Better-a beam of pride. For one moment let us say that it sparks retribution. Does fear mean we should sacrifice our liberties and happyness? Does one act of terror mean we should live in fear? If one of my friends died in an attack, I would not live in fear, I would fight those who did it! I totally get where those who disagree are coming from. I just disagree.
Vive la Republique!

Imagine the security nightmare and all the do-gooders saying this and that no the best thing has happened he is dead end of story and it hasn't cost anymore money what a nightmare to bring him to trial,feed him etc etc he isn't worth it the dog got what he deserved.

Good point Wayne...didn't think of all that at first....but would have liked to have seen a more painful ending for someone so diabolical....Your right not worth it..Gone is better in this case......Certainly have no interest in a creating/owning TS images for this criminal

First, want to apologize if I injected politics into TS collecting or came off as flip about it. I was living in NY during 9/11 and know a number of people who lost their lives and/or lost love ones. I in part figured that a dead OBL was one thing everyone could agree on, and I think I was also caught up in the moment.

Whether or not K&C should make a dead OBL or anyone else is certainly debatable.

But I absolutely agree with Sentaapua that K&C should make a Seal Team 6 commemorative set. It reflects an historic, proud moment in history, and I believe it would appeal beyond TS collectors. Perhaps a portion of its proceeds could be given to charity, like Britains is doing with its "Heroes" wounded in Iraq set.

I don't think there should be a set for anyone as there are thousands of soldiers world wide fighting this fight and to get to the point where he was killed took alot of soldiers lives not just this seal team,well done to them but i think everyone deserves a pat on the back who is fighting this war from every country.

If there is an argument that persuades me to change my view this could be it.

I am just not sure this is an iconic moment in history. Bin Lid from everything I have read and seen was a past figure who had lost his appeal or, a significant amount. What influence have they had in the arab spring??? zippo so, the people of the arab world want different things than what was offered by Al Queada which, is more a thought process than an actual unit. thats why killing him makes no difference as there are several leaders now far more dangerous than bin lid.

To stop our troops and civillians dying here in our countries we need to sort out the isralite/palastinian question now that would be iconic.

Oh I dunno, first leader the US actually killed in a combat operation, I'd say that's pretty iconic.

Yeah, suffice to say, it is IMMENSELY iconic.

chris...

If that makes it iconic for the US great and, I know from my wife and, her family how happy they are to see his demise. I am glad he is gone but, it has not stopped the war, it has changed very little actually, if he had been caught and killed as quick as Saddam at that he was very influential but, we are not talking a physical real enemy in the sense of a soldier fighting the Taliban in the fields of Afghan Al Queda is so loose in form.

It could be a negative iconic moment if more soft targets are hit as a result. already in the UK, 5 dubious characters have been arrested the day after bin lids death trying to get into a nuclear plant. For me, the uprising by the muslim people is more iconic and could play a greater iconic role in the cessation of hostilities in the middle east and, from that, the actions on our door steps.

????? The forum IQ just rocked up a couple more points............. :p:tongue:

dude- seriously????

SERIOUSLY????

Let me ask you this- when was the last time the British army killed or captured an identified foreign head of state?? As aQ operates as a terrorist unit not really affirmed to any political boundary, and they themselves identify UBL as their guy, then he is in fact the duly appointed representative of that mob of delusionals who we took out. It's never happened in American history-EVER- we didn't kill King George following the AWI, Jefferson Davis wasn't killed as part of a Union army operation, Kim Il Sung and Ho Chi Minh died free of American intervention. This is a first- it's iconic as all get out!!

Hop a flight over here to Mechanicsburg Pa and bring your notepad- I will happily give you 20 pages of notes on this subject matter. {sm3}

Cheers mate

In your opinion the IQ rocked but, I am stating valid points and, the need for that comment was unjustified and, not been a part of our many conversations on many subjects.

I just don't think its iconic he, IMO is just one of many terrorists that need sorting out one way or another its also a fact that his number two is the real brains behind attacks and organisation so, IMO had he been killed it would have been more iconic and, destructive to terror cells everywhere.

if, it meant the troops come home the day after his death, and, the crackerjacks stopped killing civillians in our countries and elsewhere; and the middle east moved forward in peace thats, IMO iconic. but, none of this has happened or is likely to happen. What I said was bin lid was a leader of what? not a great deal, Al Queada is a terrorist franchise no more no less and, for the last several years has been less influential. The real terror threats lie far away from where Bin lid was allegedly killed.

The minutia is debatable but, we are on the same side about the outcome, no problem with his fate. The world is a better place without him
