I remember the first time K & C offered one of these kinds of repaints....it was MK009. The figure was repainted as a Hospitaller and given out as the Chicago show figure a couple years ago. It's a very nice figure. K & C also offered the Hospitaller to those who wanted it but could not attend the show as long as they bought $300 worth of merchandise direct from K & C. I think there were some mixed feelings about this among some collectors if I remember right. I thought it was a nice idea.
But since then I believe K & C has offered three other figures under the same type of terms (only available direct from K & C w/ a minimum purchase). However in these post-Hospitaller instances the figures (and a tree) were not associated w/ any toy soldier show. I'm just curious about other collector's feelings about these special offers.

I don't mind the concept but I am guessing that is not a good promotion for your local K&C dealers. Basically K&C is potentially taking $300 from your local dealer as you direct your money to HK instead of them to get the figure that they cannot sell. If Andy wanted to be fair he would offer the deal via their local dealers. For the consumer you are basically getting the free figure but it is now costing you at best 30+ for shipping....

But for example I think the french KC dealer in Paris has those promotion figures, so I guess also the KC dealers in other countries have...

I'm not saying its a great "deal" when you factor in costs, but I have a hard time complaining about it. it's not something that K&C HAS to do and to complain about how they decide to go about giving something away seems unfair. it comes down to what is the figure worth to you.

If I collected this range (nice looking figure by the way), I wouldn't have any compulsion about getting it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we see some on eBay, which will, to a certain extent, pay for what you purchased with the $300.
Glad you got one. Yes, their customer service is really good, unparalleled in my view. I don't know if you are a big collector of K & C but joining the Club is not a bad idea. They send you all the brochures they put out and you get to buy some nice figures from the Collectors Club. Theoretically, you could get the brochures from your dealer but this way it's easier and the cost is not very high. I collect the brochures (have them all the way back to the beginning) so I like this aspect of the Club.
I'm sure we will see many on eBay. I remember that when Kings X started to give away their Western figures if you bought a certain amount of product ($500 or so I think), these figures were fetching a nice sum on eBay so that the figure was basically paying for the amount you spent.
