Tom: As an afterthought, ATS goes very well with Trophy.

Potentially new Trophy? What kind of paint and what kind of painting? Could be nice, could be dreadful. Hard to vote when you cannot see the potential goods.

Hi JW,

Honestly I started this thread to express my own opinion and find what others thought. It has meandered around.

Here is my main points: (IMO)

1. THere is nothing ever like an original to me and I would rather chase old trophy than have it be copied (That said, Mike Norris at Little Legion has done an outstanding job producing some complimentary figures in his own unique style).

2. The group that now owns the Trophy name has had it for a good long while with no new figures except a Matte Finished World War 1 Bus which in my opinion would have been better off not produced. I don't like Trophy in matte, again my opinion.

3. I think the original Trophy names and moulds should stay retired. Len was a master and I don't think he will be duplicated. I would rather see them not produced at all and continue to chase the oldies on the secondary market.

4. Folks on here can say what they want, but I think we will see the proverbial biblical land to the South freeze over before the owner of the Trophy name every produces a single piece.

Off the box.

A mould - is a mould - is a mould. If a mould exists - and is a good one - I couldn't care less who pours the metal. As long as the resulting casting is good and true - I don't care. Bring 'em on.

Also, as far as I'm concerned - leave them as castings - as I prefer to paint my own anyway.

Good luck to whoever owns them - someone sold them to you - and you bought them - do your thing.

Tom,

You’re probably right, but why would anybody go to the expense of buying the range and rights and then not produce any figures, so might see some in the future?

For me I would like some remakes as long as they were upto the previous Trophy Standard.

The prices for originals are just utter lunancy and many just cannot get on the ladder.

Dear "theBritfarmer":

Ah, the time to buy original Trophy Miniatures of Wales sets was just prior to the end of 2006 when Trophy officially went out of business. I believe that Trophy was in a state of decline the last 4 or five years before they closed shop on 12/31/2006. When I sold off some of my Trophy sets in 2005 & 2006 I only got about 50% back on my original costs. In early part of 2007 when I sold off the last of my Trophy Sudan Wars sets I got nice profits. "Good luck" to collectors looking to buy Trophy sets now! Later this year I plan on selling Trophy set XM-11 & I probably will get at least a pretty good price on it.
