Forces of valor stuff is still very good value & me selling mine got nothing to do with that , I think it got more to do with having a baby on the way & having way to much stuff :wink2: Going back on topic for me £35.00 for any toy soldier is not good value for money but that just my option%^VUksubs,
Peoples perception of value for money can vary considerably. Questioning the value of an unknown figure from an unknown brand appears a futile discussion. Or are you talking about a particular brand and figure ? Is it an intricate medieval figure or a GI in olive drab ?
Some might consider 35 pounds a lot but I know many who would pay more than that for the right figure regardless of the brand. I recall Alex mentioning paying several hundred dollars to have a figure painted. Good value in his mind but others might find better value in say having 20 figures for the same money.
Your own concept of value for money (not neccessarily for figures) appears to change a lot. I recall many of your posts last year constantly comparing various brands to FOV and how FOV was such good value. However recently you indicated you were selling your FOV to fund other purchases. I think this illustrates the point that value for money is in the eye of the beholder.

Yes. but you were asking for other people's opinions, and you still haven't clarifield which kind of figure.

Brett and Mitch make very good points, with which I agree.
It's hard to argue your statement, witho brut being more specific about the brand and style, though we have brought up Forces of Valor, and matte figures.
Generally speaking, you do have to take into account the cost of the labor in producing the master, making the molds, casting and painting a couple thousand figures. You also have to take into account that the market is limited, and depending on the brand and style, the market may consist of buyers who are willing to pay the price, so though some buyers may drop out at $35, the manufacturers haven't yet priced themselves out of the market.
I agree with you, to a point. Personally, I wouldn't pay $35 for the modern made-in-China figures, because they're not my cup of tea. But I have paid that much for some Stadden 54mm castings, because they were relatively rare, and for some kits from Germany. We each have to decide for ourselves, how much we're willing to pay for anything, that's how markets work.
Prost!
Brad
Well Brett your wrong my FOV stuff is one of my last things to go funny that  & don't know what this has got to do with the price of figures ,saying that you being a seller of toy figures maybe you could give us a average price of a figures you sell ?:wink2:Uksubs,
Interesting that FOV was your first choice of brand that had to go compared to others. Suggests to me that you don't value it as much as other more expensive brands. Funny thing "value".

I do wish people would be specific when they have a gripe about something. Whose prices are you complaining about? To just quote a price of £35 or $35 means nothing, are you referring to foot figures or mounted? Because if you care to carefully examine ALL makers you will be able to find figures far cheaper than that. And when asked to clarify what type of figure to just reply "Matt" is akin to being asked what type of car you drive and replying "A blue one". If you are a dedicated worshipper at the temple of one particular maker and will not countenance any other offering then take up the argument with that maker. If, on the other hand, you are interested in figures in general then take a long look around, many makers will happily provide their figures in either gloss or matt finish if you bother to ask. There's a lot of choice out there. Trooper
You make some good points Brad but like you said at the end of the day it down to the individual
Funny that you bring up the value of FOV when today on ebay a 1/16 FOV King tiger went for £750.00 , not bad when you could buy them for £325.00 , I won't be selling my one ^&grin
