Project X (1 Viewer)

Detailing the ladies after finalising the pose.

Here are a father and three kids. Kids' heads are from 1/35 scale Hornet.

At this stage, I have no suggestions for clues except to say maybe, some of these figures are red herrings?

Adding four more figures with Preiser heads. The cast is growing.

I reposed the two ladies and continue to sculpt them.

Added arms and legs to the school teacher with kids. One of them has a book. Oliver?

Two more pics of WIP.

First one shows one of the titans cut down to size. women are 1/24 and the titans are 1/20.

Second one shows more work done on the women (fuller skirts) and two kids nearing completion.

I've cut another titan down to size. The smaller bearded man has been given legs.

So far, nothing is obvious, right? Even I don't know the plot. hahaha.

Almost completed the women pair. I sprayed with an undercoat to reveal imperfections.

Hi John,

We Chinese have a saying - you are one big sharp cookie.

But I am prone to sculpt badly and make revisions so I don't trust even myself with the photos....hahaha

I worked more on the titans, paying attention to the folds of the robes. As you can see, I do a bit of soft sculpting. When the putty is hard, I carve back on the material. The black marking are the areas that I will apply the putty next.

More WIP on the kids. Adding folds and details.

I gave the women a coat of paint to approximate their appearance in the painting. I think this is an opera. Carmen is a good bet.

A coat of paint to brighten up the figures. Huckleberry Finn is a good bet.

Now on a painting spree. Adding linseed oil to my paints to keep painting. Working on Huck, Tom and friend.

Hi John,

thanks. I'm making good progress on painting these first few figures.

Here are pix of the kids and the ladies, and also tiny Tim.

I'm now working on the long haired guru.

I resculpted the face on the guru and have now painted him according to the painting.

Here's a pix of the ladies and kids juxtaposed together.

Tiny Tim is posed next to ***in which will have to resculpted.

These 5 figures will be sculpted next. They are behind the ladies/kids grouping.

I selected the next batch of figures to do.

I have grouped them for juxtapositioning and easier identification.

First pic- ***in with two figs. Notice the third fig is a bearded Fujimi racing queen 1/24 scale. Below are 5 figures which are behind the kids and ladies.
2nd pic - Two mtd figures and 4 new figs. The skirted fig is taken from a Preiser Victorian set, supposedly 1/32 scale but closer to 1/35. The last fig is a converted Sarum Teddy Roosevelt figure.
3rd pic - upper row - developing te pose of the two larger figs. More details on the three figs turning out to be a woman and a fat man. Notice I used ethnic faces for all three figures. Lower row - lone fig is turning out to be a boy. I used Verlinden 1/35 legs taken from a male nude resin fig.
4th pic - upper row is ***in with the two figs. Middle row - boy is almost finished. The next three figs are turning out to be comic opera types. bottom row - these figures look rather elongated. Three of them are finished as most of the figures are hidden.

5th pic - I finished sculpting the locks on Tiny Tim's hair.

I present to you an European production of Les Miserables.

Going thru my collection, I came across this hollowcast Britains farm horse.
It seems suitable for inclusion in this project to create visual perspectives. Is nothing sacred?
Here it is placed next to the Historex horse figure.
