I e-mailed the seller on the set, per the instructions and i got a "How much are you willing to give me " in response. Not good.
Mike

It's the same listing...I'm thinking a scam, since everything in the description has been copied and pasted.
Mike

Mike,

There are too many red flags on this one.

I have come to the same conclusion as you have.

Raymond.

A penny for your thoughts Raymond.
It is a different seller so it cannot be that the previous sale fell through.
The second bidder should do well, as his main rival is obviously out of the running now and it really was a two horse race the last time.

Damian,

This one is dodgy, very dodgy.

Thanks, Raymond.

Verbatim from the seller when asked if I could bid from the US...

tell me your best price you can offer me.

email address is a gmail one. I use gmail so I would hate to say that is dodgy, but if a business uses gmail you do wonder a bit.

Gotta agree this is very strange.

The second bidder has withdrawn his bid

I've asked the original seller of set# 163 if it is his set but I haven't received a reply yet.

Cheers

Martyn:)

This early Egypt and The Sudan set recently sold for more than I thought it would and it looks like the Officer is missing

This one is the same set, with the Officer, and is on Ebay now

They are becoming quite common these days particularly set no 163 perhaps that is why the seller is only looking for £1,400 this time round.

Same seller e-mail....has not gotten back to me after I declined to offer any money and inquired into shipping. DO NOT BID ON THIS SET.
Mike

Also... New seller has never sold anything on ebay.uk....last activity in August. I beleive the scammer is using sellers ID that have lapsed activity and includes the scammer's e-mail. I have notified this seller and am waiting for the news (that he/she has no clue about the listing)

I guess we drove the other listing underground, I can't find it. Good job Men of Harlech!
Mike

I ealso emailed the other seller listed as lisault2k but same ebshopp and got the same how much will you pay response.
Interesting that was listed as Kent so I offerred to collect without committing to any price ....silence
This listing now shows as Northumberland the other end of the country.
They obviously move around a bit.;)

Regards
Clive

Trophy collectors are a pretty savvy group who will not be taken on a wild goose chase.

The seller can change ID, email address, location and whatever else but there are always ways to tell when something is not right.

Sincerely, Raymond.

Indeed ! Give us the tools and we shall finish the job !!!

Set# 163-#3 removed...Good job Men of Harlech!

Mike,

Unless the seller is suspended, he/she might lie low for a while and then slip back in under the radar.

If there is a next time, the seller could be located anywhere from Land's End to Inverness with a new modus operandi and email address.

Extra caution is the order of the day for the Trophy storehouse when it appears on eBay.

Raymond.

Was the seller going to take payment and then disappear?
I thought paypal had a protection dispute facility in the event of such an event.
Doing something like that would be a criminal act ( fraud) and for 1 400 quid would be sufficient to get the boys in blue interested and would probably earn you a bit of free board and lodging courtesy of Her Majesty's generosity.

Great "Combined Operation" everyone ;).

Let's be careful out there.

Cheers

Martyn:)
