The bidding is heating up over 800 pounds.

A couple questions,

How many of this set were produced?

Did Trophy always produce the same number of sets or did it vary form set to set?
It says in the item description that there were 200 sets produced. -- lancer

I was curious if this was accurate or not. I know some of our Trophy experts will know the answer. I tend not to trust descriptions on EBAY as many of the items listed are described as rare.

Hi Brian,

The bidding on this set has gone through the roof. When is the madness going to end?

I do not know how many sets were made for the 1st Edition (1991) and 2nd Edition (1997).

That said, I think the 1st Edition is more representative of the "Defenders of Rorke's Drift" as it has the 11 VC's and 4 DCM's.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

What did it originally retail for.
I seem to remember 300 quid.
I think La Haye Sainte was about 500 quid.

Around £250 to £300, something like that.

Some of my sets of 6 figures have a price ticket of £39;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

SOLD FOR £2,250.00 or $3,708.79

I am not sure as to what to say , except someone really wanted this set. Or could this be a case where two bidders put in a really high final bid figuring the other bidder would not do the same thing.

My hiers are going to be very happy when they inherit my set.

Interesting, I only have the 1997 versions.

First one I bought about a year ago from a dealer for £500. Second one I picked up this July on ebay for £230 (inc postage). That was the only thing I've won on ebay since March.

This is my “Defence of Rorke’s Drift” set packed in it’s original boxes.

Original packaging is great, I think it adds so much to the sets. I always keep priginal packing if I have it.

I found a couple of old Trophy catalogues and this is a page from the 1997 one.

Hi Martyn,

I sleep with my Trophy catalogues and price lists under my pillow.:D

Best, Raymond.:)

Good Morning Martyn,

Something is not right.

The set number is the same as the previous one i.e: #163 of 200.

The images are also identical.

Raymond.

A penny for your thoughts Raymond.
It is a different seller so it cannot be that the previous sale fell through.
The second bidder should do well, as his main rival is obviously out of the running now and it really was a two horse race the last time.

I e-mailed the seller on the set, per the instructions and i got a "How much are you willing to give me " in response. Not good.
Mike

It's the same listing...I'm thinking a scam, since everything in the description has been copied and pasted.
