Great pics - love the tour of China !

I plan to get there one day - never been outside of Hong Kong in the old days of 1990.

I understand - especially after the Olympics it has become very tourist friendly ?

Ron

Why thank you Ron. Very kind of you indeed.
I've no idea if China has become very tourist friendly - having never been a tourist in that country. I do know that I sincerely love the country and its people - who are very warm and friendly once they accept any foreign individual. I can't honestly say that I admire the Politburo, but I'd rather not drag that into the conversation.

Regards
Harry

Harry, those are wonderful pictures of your trip. I really enjoyed them. That's as close as I'll ever get to being in China I'm sure. Oh and your "skelp lugger" is quite lovely as well.

Well Mr Cap, we have to go back to Beijing at the end of May to pay a visit to both the British and Thai Consulates, but that'll take only 2 or 3 days. Shall be taking a side visit to my company's office to pick up a miniature figurine order that I'm going to enter tomorrow - maybe. So due to lack of time, we won't be visiting too many touristy places.
However, plans are afoot to visit the British Consulate for a 3rd time in July, and this time the party will consist of another Chinese couple and some other friends. Reckon we'll take a full week this time and do The Great Wall, The Ming Tombs, more of the Forbidden City and some other places within a cheap taxi ride or underground train that I'm considering.

Some more good ones of the Military Museum coming up tomorrow (my time).

As for the lug skelper, well, she's just the cross I have to bear - and is the reason behind all these trips to the Brit Consulate. Wish I'd known what I was getting into when I persuaded her to take up with me....

Regards
Harry

I initially thought these were Mongols – but apparently they depict the Han invaders. Might be wrong but I think the Han are the most numerous of present-day China’s 54 different ethnic groups – not counting a certain Scottish Itinerant person….:)

Very nice Harry, I especially like that chariot. Imagine a First Legion version of that

Scott,

I'd simply LOVE to see a First Legion version of the Chinese warring states period - there's no doubt in my mind that it would be stunning.
I'd also LOVE to see them do a Mongol Empire range. The possibilities are endless.

Cheers

Well, thanks Scott. There does seem to be a small hard-core of members here who have evidently been enjoying this virtual trip to the Military Museum in Beijing. As I've mentioned, we have to return to the Brit Consulate in May and then again in July. So hopefully the weather will be a lot better and I'll take my UV filter and other lenses with me. This ought to result in improved snaps next time.
That's it for today (my time of course) cos its time to get some kip.
Some photo's coming up tomorrow of Beijing Day 4 - "The Summer Palace"......only - I really don't think it was.

Cheers

Beijing Day 4 #1.
Last day. Flight home is at 20:00, so what shall we do today. Okay, let’s go check out this place

Beijing Day 4 #2.
According to Missus H this is where The Empress Tzu Tsi had her “holiday house”
Hmmm....maybe so, but I don't think this is the Summer Palace

Beijing Day 4 #3.
In fact I'm sure this isn't the Summer Palace that the “Badaah British” burned down in 1860

H,
No intention on intruding on your trip...Hope it was great as it was written by afore-mentioned thread author...
Are those siege contraps and crossbow multipilier for real or reproductions?
Interesting stuff there including the "spy plane" 104.
Mike

Harry, I m enjoying our trip to China. Really great pictures and thank you for sharng them with us.

Hey my undead and kilted friend – I was unaware that you’ve been on this “strange trip” along with a few other buddies. Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying it.

I have absolutely no idea if they were originals or knock-off copies Mike. They did look rather old, so I'd like to think they were originals.
As I've said, we're going back in July, and I'll be better prepared for taking indoor photo's, and through glass displays, next time.

Well you know all your pictures of those places are blanking cool! The Chinese were the premier artisans of war, long before the Europeans. Really interesting stuff. I love it! And wouldn't nary get a chance of seeing them besides your priceless pics. BTW-the same woman shows up in a lot of pics. Is she jumping into the shots on purpose:p I can't get mine to even go to anything cool like this!

The Lady who keeps popping up throughout this thread could be any one of a set of identical Chinese triplets.
I think I'm married to one of them, perhaps two of them, or (heaven help me), maybe even all three of them. I have no idea which it is.....
:cool::cool:....:eek:
