I watched it today. I missed the first episode. I thought this episode was very good. I like Liev Schreiber's acting and Jon Voight is always good!

I just stumbled onto this myself...

what a hard core little series this is!!!

Season 2 is starting soon...
I watching all the Season 1 episodes...
I'm hooked...this family is tough...
what a crazy plot...

gotta love the episode...

"The Bag or the Bat"...

I might have picked the bat if I knew what was in the bag...^&grin

Ya'll talked me into it. I'm going to start watching. -- A;

Al...it's a pretty hardcore/gritty show...I'm trying to get George to give it a chance...

It's a fantastic show. However, try to watch the first two years before starting to watch the third.

Brad...

this is season 3 coming up?
I have missed 2 seasons already?

I'm up to episode 6 of season 1 now...

Yes, Michael, this is season 3. Wait till you get to season 2. It's tremendous.

well that's a promising endorsement...

I'm still in season 1 and thoroughly enjoying it...
they have really defined all the characters really well...
such a dark, gloomy, troubled bunch huh?
^&grin

Ya my daughter of all people got me started on this one and it is great! Like you guys say, no holds barred, great actors, great script. Problem is it is very dark in places and I find myself wanting to take a break cause you so much want to like these characters and they do some really bad things, all in all a pretty ugly story but like a horrific car wreck it's hard to turn away.
Ray

Yes, it's very dark, talking about things that have been secret for years.

Fantastic series :salute::

We have had Seasons 1 and 2 and in a couple of weeks Season 3 will premier over here on Sky Atlantic {bravo}}

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks to all for suggesting this show. I'm about 30 minutes into S1-E1 and I am HOOKED. Hard to beat the opening and this thing is so well written it's impossible not to watch. -- Al

Al...

yes...it's a cool idea for a show...

a "fixer" for the law firm's celebrity clients...^&grin

I'm a newbie to it also and just finished Season 1...

it has not lost any steam yet...
there are some extremely convoluted plots in it...
lots of "unusual characters"...
and lots of unexpected twists...

I'm starting Season 2 today...
I believe Season 3 starts on July 12th...

and Marsan plays him well...

Terence is an interesting individual in the plot...
the dialog written for his life philosophy is a great character study...
he seems to take life's bumps and keeps on grinding...
a sad lonely character...
he does it well...
great facial expressions...

he played in Snow White & the Huntsman as a dwarf along with Ian McShane and Bob Hoskins...
with their make up and diminutive size...
through "trick photography"...
they were not so easily recognizable...

Binge watched first 8 episodes, season 1 and really enjoyed it. Don't much care for Ray's wife, reminds me of Carmella Soprano whom I didn't like either. Think all the brothers are very good but Voight as Daddy walks off with this, so far. What a sleeze, but he doesn't hide what he is, not completely at least. Not much use for the kids, especially the rebellious daughter. I like Ray's right-hand man. -- Al

Into the 2nd season now and I find myself engrossed in these characters and stories. Sorry I didn't know of this show from it's beginnings. The Donovan's are one unusual family. I find myself wishing Voight was the main character. He is superb and has brought such depth to Mickey that it is almost impossible to guess at what he is going to do. -- Al

Al...

that's funny...

she reminded me of Carmella also...
whiney...but strong...not too soft to look at...wiry and unpolished...not attractive to me...

until I finally figured out where I had seen her before...

she played the prostitute for Al Swerengen in Deadwood...
and she was one tough cookie in that show...

and like you...

I agree...
Jon Voight was the perfect cast for Mickey...
Voight does him very well...
I never cared much for him...
maybe Midnight Cowboy...
but never a favorite of mine...
I really like him as this character...
