Thanks again gentlemen; George, Joe (Sahara), Scott, Joe (Playsetaddict), Alex, Noah, mark, Kirk, Geb, Martyn, Brad, and Randy . . . .

Mike,
Excellent photos. However, what struck me was the composition and the thought that went into creating the overall effect. You mention that the Chosen Ground base was made by WB. Is this something available or just a one of a kind piece that I would need to contact Ken about?
Brad

Excellent Mike. Now TF has to find a way for us to add sound to our posted scenes. I love the background you are using. Is that the one Ken created for WB?
Randy

Brad and Randy . ..
The base, with background, is WB #DISP10 "The Chosen Ground". Limited Edition of 550 released in May/2010. It was made by H&A exclusively for WB and is still available through some of their delaers or as a direct order from WB. This base was designed for WB Chosen Ground sets #31051 set 1, #31073 set 2, and #31074 set 3 for their Art of War series promoting the work of artist Keith Rocco. When all put together the base and the three sets make an incredibly nice representation of Keith Rocco's painting "The Chosen Ground" depicting the 2nd Wisconsin of the Iron Brigade moving up McPhearson's Ridge towards Herbst Woods on the first day of Gettysburg. I find that this base and background is very versatile and I have used it in many of my photos.

Also, the large tree on the left hand side of the photo is JG Miniatures JGS01 "Large Oak Tree" another one of my favorite photographic and scenic props.

:) Mike

Aabsolutely wonderful set-up you have there Mike, and of course your FL unit looks the perfect part for this dio, great pics...Sammy

I received my latest FL order this afternoon, five Confederates, which completed the FL ACW Confederates I wanted, and four Romans which started my FL Glory of Rome collection. Here are a couple of photos of my finished Confederates advancing in line towards their Yankee opponents . . . . from where I sit, I can almost hear the Rebel Yell . . . These Rebs are photographed on my WB "Chosen Ground" base w/background which was made excluisvely for WB by Hudson & Allen (Ken & Ericka Osen). Photos of my small detachment of Romans to follow this evening or tomorrow.
:) Mike

Hello Mike

Great pics and display, I am a fan of this period (even I am french;)) and FL figures are fantastic.

Xavier

Mike

Superb composition and some pretty spectacular photography too. Might be just me but advancing Rebs always look more menacing and foreboding than those boys in blue {eek3}

Note also with interest Mike especially after your help/advice on the dismounted cavalry guys that the left shoulder arms poses didn't stop you in the end from completing your Reb ranks ^&grin

Well done Mike I raise my old gray kepi to you yet again

Thanks Bob, much appreciated. I still would have liked to have them all advanicing at the Right Shoulder Shift position, but I figured I could tolerate the five that weren't . . . . gives something for their Sgt. to yell at them for :wink2: The excellent sculpting and painting of the figures, which First Legion has become known for, overshadowed the minor concerns I had for these Southern Gentlemen.
:) Mike

Nice pic's Mestell alway's enjoy your dios very nicely done. You make them Confederates FL has produce
very tempting.

Nice job on the vignette.

The southern figures look well done but the poses are not to my liking. Most are positioned the same, with their rifle laying on their shoulder. Seems that works well for building a "line" dio, but not much else.
That is just my personal opinion, of corse.

Terrific work as always Mike!! It must have been awfully frightening to have a line of yelling Rebs come at you..Not to mention all those Bayonets glistening in thes sun!!!.

Steve

Knew sooner or later you'd give in an add selected figures from FL to the ranks of your ACW collection Mike. Thanks for sharing them with us.
